Lost about 13% of battery life to Google Search when I was sleeping. Wifi turned off, Google voice hot key turned off.

Full wake locks from Google search draining the battery. How do I prevent Google search from keep on waking up?

Already disabled Google Now, will monitor wake locks for the next few days smile.gif

As for my purchases, I bought a generic USD 1 TPU case and a USD3 Ringke Fusion look alike case, both off EBay.

Also waiting for my Nilkin Glass Screen Protector!! rclxms.gif

Even though it doesn't offer the best protection out there, it is still a better option than going nekid. Our camera lens are kinda popping out from the device and by going nekid, if it scratches  shakehead.gif

This casing seems to offer some protection to that while still keeping the device slim. For the price, I think there is no reason not to get it for those who are not using any casing  tongue.gif

Too bad it doesn't cover the top and bottom.

At USD11 from ebay, it's damn cheap already, not sure how much lower people expect it to go for them to opt for bulk order.

When it comes to Nexus devices, ya don't need numbers, graphs or benchmarks to tell you how smooth it is. It's the experience that's important brows.gif brows.gif

Thats you and you can keep to your opinion  -  I WANT numbers  whistling.gif
*
What a big e-pen** rolleyes.gif All I wanted to convey is that the Nexus 5 is super smooth and you know it because of the user experience with it and not because of what Mr Benchmark A, Numbers B or graph C are telling you. Numbers mean nothing.

Don't know why you are being so defensive though.

That allow you to make Emergency Call even without unlocking the screen. (for other ppl that may need to use yr phone to call for emergency)
Same with the Camera function on the right bottom corner.
You can use your camera function even without unlocking the screen.
*
How do you do that? I cannot open the dialer in lock screen mode

planning to get one Nexus 5. Am wondering will the 16gb be sufficient for daily use? I won't be playing games on it and everyday apps would most likely be taking notes, taking and edit photos, usual social apps - whatsapp, fb, twitt, etc.
*
Sounds like me too, don't store videos/movies, I have a lot of storage left now. 7GB free rclxms.gif

Any rooting method that doesn't trigger the binary counter?

Might wanna save more juice nod.gif

And another complain is the notification panel, I don't want to keep using 2 fingers to bring down the toggle window which is almost impossible for 1 handed operation

Question
How can I enjoy 4G LTE speeds?
Answer
∙Purchase an LTE enabled device (if you don't already own one).
∙Subscribe to a Mobile Internet plan of 1GB & above OR sign up to a rate plan with bundled data more than 1GB.
∙You must be on either a nano-SIM or a micro-SIM.

*
Just to add that mobile internet plan of 1GB for prepaid does not qualify for LTE, it's only for postpaid.

This is such an awesome app, gives Nexus 5 much easier to access toggles. It doesn't even need root or custom room, I was honestly very surprised!

What screen protector is recommended?
*
Some of us here are getting the Nilkin Glass protector off EBay for around USD11, or the super glass protector (can't remember the name) for about RM70+

For normal plastic SP, can go for SGP icon_rolleyes.gif

Franco kernels known to give wonderful battery life compared to others. You might want to give it some time to settle down if you have just flashed it..
*
How much improvement in battery life?

So far no intention to use custom Rom as stock rom is already so good.

Just received my generic TPU case from Ebay. It only cost me USD1 inclusive of free shipping from China.

Was only expecting it to arrive somewhere mid January because usually my orders from China take about 1 month or so. Quite surprised that I received it today because the item was shipped out on the 18th of December 2013 and it only took 2 weeks. Great job rclxms.gif

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...d=1020915127005

Above is the listing I got. And surprisingly, it's USD6.99 now ----> http://www.ebay.com/itm/151176832035?ssPag...984.m1497.l2649

You can probably try to look for something similar.

Opening the package, I was happy to find the seller including a free Screen Protector and a mini stylus! thumbup.gif

The case fits nicely into the phone. While it isn't very tight fitting, it doesn't feel like it would come off the case easily too. As some were complaining about the SGP Ultra/Neo Hybrid and Ringke Fusion being too bulky, I'm happy to say that this TPU case doesn't add that much bulk. I'm happy to say that my Nexus 5 still looks sexy as ever, especially that thin bezel wub.gif

user posted image

The back of the case has a smooth but matte kind of feel, it's more slippery than the back cover of the Nexus 5. The sides are glossy TPU material.

user posted image

The cut outs for the speaker, microphone, 3.5mm jack are slightly rough which is to be expected for this dirt cheap price. They don't look that bad like in the pictures actually. The volume and power button keys do not have tactile feel to them but they are still easily pressed with a little bit of pressure

This case should be able to provide some protection, especially against minor knocks/dents but do not expect anything major like a drop from 4-6 feet. You would have to invest into a bulkier case with thicker rubber to absorb impact like the Otterbox cases

user posted image

The finish isn't that good to be honest but still it's quite bearable for me at least, you'll only notice it by sight and not by feel. But nevertheless, it still feels good in the hands, just like any other TPU cases in the market (not counting the expensive ones)

In conclusion, I think this is a pretty good purchase, more so with the free Screen Protector and mini stylus laugh.gif You can't beat a TPU case for USD1 that comes with a screen protector and a mini stylus!! thumbup.gif

I don't know if I'm going to use this case or not because I may prefer a flip case. For those who loves TPU cases, please do get this!

p/s: My Ringke Fusion look a like case would be arriving soon, I hope! Will do another review then tongue.gif

Here's the one I'm waiting for next: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171177115078?ssPag...984.m1497.l2649 Only USD3.57!!!

Not sure which brand, probably a generic one. Got it together with my Nexus 5 and the casing.

Still waiting for my Nilkin Glass Protector then I guess I can forgo a flip case and go full TPU or Ultra Hybrid rclxm9.gif
