My Nilkin H+ Glass Protector should be on the way to my place, maybe take another 1-2 weeks time (still in shipment). Selling it as I'm opting for the Rhino Shield Protector instead. Anyone wants my Nilkin Glass Protector please PM me. When it arrives, will let you know
Btw, slightly off topic, my new toy today ![]() |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Jan 2 2014, 10:00 PM) Thanks man. I also did some research and came across the same findings as above. Pretty much limited by the kernel of the phone. Custom kernels may allow charging with higher input amperageIt also appears that even if you use a 2A charger, if your device is rated for 1.2A, it will only draw 1.2A and not the full capacity afforded by the charger. Can anyone confirm this? |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Jan 2 2014, 11:07 PM) Guys, I just got my Nexus 5 last night. Always been an iPhone user, so this is new to me. Definitely something working in the background during idle. First up, hardware. I have the wobbly power button for sure, volume rocker wobbles slightly too. This does dampen the premium feel of the ceramic buttons, and is kinda a bummer, but one day on I don't think it matters anymore. Certainly nothing something I would RMA for. Those are the kind of people who will cause the next Nexus 5 to increase in price. My girlfriend's unit also has the same wobbly buttons, so it's gotta be a widespread thing. Other than that I didn't notice anything wrong, not sure if my screen has light bleed but I don't notice anything so it's all good to me. Viewing angle is bad from the corners, but again not a biggie. Overall the screen looks fabulous. Now I've heard about the battery life of the Nexus 5, but I think mine's performing even worse. Last night I charged the phone up to 95% and unplugged it. It was connected to wifi with mobile data turned off. When I woke up in the middle of the night (2.5 hours later), it had dropped 13%. I've been hearing how good the battery is when idle, and this drop looks really bad. I charged it to 100% at 9am, by 9pm I had 35% left, with only about 1.5 hours of screen on time. Again, looks bad. Any idea what may be causing this? I'm new to Android, so all the sifus out there, point me in the right direction? I'm on stock everything. Didn't change anything. Some stuff I noticed:- - One thing I observed is that it fetches my emails instantly. How do I turn this off? Does this eat up a lot of battery? - Is there a on-screen volume adjuster? I listen to music using my phone and earphones and the physical volume buttons aren't precise. Sometimes its too soft and one step up its too loud. I miss the on-screen volume adjuster on my iPhone. Any other music app to recommend? - For Chrome, is there a way to put the back and forward buttons on the main browser instead? 1) Go to Wifi, go to settings the three dot at the bottom right. Select to keep wifi on only when plugged in. Check Wifi Optimization, uncheck network notification and scanning 2) Do not use Google Now. Deactivate it. 3) Next go to Location settings, off Location Services. Under Mode, select battery saving and then off GPS. 4) Go to settings, language input, off voice hotkey 5) Go to Data usage in settings, click each of maps and google now (or all google apps) and scroll to the bottom. Check "restrict background data" |

QUOTE(Tsukiyomi001 @ Jan 3 2014, 12:47 AM) on #1, WRONG. "Keep Wifi On during sleep (KWOdS)" should be set to Always Thanks for the correctionreason: the phone uses mobile data to connect to internet when wifi is not connected, if KWOdS is set to "only when plugged in", your phone will end up using mobile data when you leave it on the table with screen off. Mobile data uses more power than Wifi. Voice Hotkey has no impact on battery life. Disable Sync when you don't need it. I usually switch it on for about 30minutes before I sleep and switch it off after that. You can confugure the frequency the email apps connect to the server to fetch new emails. I find that 3rd Party apps are better than the bundled ones. On GPS, GPS module is not activated unless required by a service or an app. For me, I turn off any location reporting settings in my apps (FB, Twitter etc) except for navigating apps. I turn off Google Now (Voice Hotkey still works) and Google Location Tracking / History too. As for location settings, I don't see much difference between battery saving / high performance. As I said just now, I have disable location reporting on non-navigating apps. Besides saving battery, I think it helps maintain privacy by denying the app my location. Touch sounds and vibration are also not good for battery life. It takes a while to get used to, but it's just something you get used to. Keyboard retains vibration even if you switch off vibration in Settings > Sound, if you need it like me. to further improve battery life, you can flash custom kernels or ROMS, the guides are on the internet My usage case, as what I described above, gets me around 0.7%/hour battery drain on standby. Some people achieve even better battery life. This post has been edited by -kytz-: Jan 3 2014, 01:22 AM |

QUOTE(apendots @ Jan 3 2014, 12:21 PM) just want to ask u guys opinion. My Samsung SIII screen cost me RM490 to replace at the Samsung service centre, which is damn cheap already. is it too expensive if I change the cracked screen with Rm500 price tag. thats only the price of screen, not include the postage and labour service I'd say go for it since it's your only option. |

Thinking of flashing Franco kernel since a few forumers here mentioned it's for battery life |
