i wanna ask, i bought tis psb subseries 125.. my room is kinda small, 11' x 13' like tat.. then if i sit near to the wall, which is where i put my desktop, the bass is kinda overwhelm.. but when i seat at the listening position, which is around the middle of the room, the bass is not kinda strong.. the sub is placed beside my right bookshelf. crossover i put 80hz, speaker size small.. distance around 1m+ to listening position.

QUOTE(paskal @ Jul 10 2014, 01:08 PM) move the listening position, don't sit at the middle of the room. ahh.. kinda hard to move lol.. basically the room is so occupied >< no other solution? because for an 11x13 room, with 9' ceiling, you're gonna have a huge null at the middle of the room no matter where you move the sub to. ![]() the null is nice nice at the 55hz, causing the response to sound like no omphh, no midbass punch, lacking in where it's mostly needed. good room ratio won't directly translate to good response at the listening position. |

i think they way cinema and for home use is different. cinema really have 64speakers, but for home, they just rely on 2 extra speaker shoot to the ceiling, or maybe 4.

ppl can argue between solid core and strand wire until tomorrow also cannot finish. electron tends to travel more on the skin of the conductor, so solid core tends to have more losses. Housing main cable are solid becos they are cheaper. Making wire into strands and braid them is more expensive.
the thinner the strand, the better, becos more strands, less skin effect. |

Need some help in my listening position.. now i managed to draft out my room layout.
room size 11' x 13'6" table to cupboard 10' x 2.5' wall to bed 5'3"x 6'7" wardrobe 4'2"x 2'11" listening position 6'6"x5'10" Front LR from wall 1'5" the back wall and the left wall if facing tv got windows. the drawing is not to scale, rougly est. If i stand near to the back wall, the sound is better, in terms of bass is nicer and the corner.. but just the listening position not so good.. i can try push my bed to the back wall and move ard with the smaller furniture that might can move my listnening position 2-3ft further back. Cant really move to other room, or extend room or do anything as i am staying with my parents.. only can do watever i can with this small personal space of mine my current setup is: front L/R WAF-1 from curveacoustics Center X-CS from curveacouctics Sub PSB but kong oledi, so no sub, most probably gonna get goldenears 3 AVR rx-v475 TV sony 42w674a Mainly setup for gaming and movies. Sometimes i will let it play music while i am using my PC on the table on my left bottom corner of my room. There i can hear the music is better compare the listening position.. more bass probably becos of corner.

QUOTE(ktek @ Sep 29 2015, 09:20 PM) distant between front spkr & distance to listening point. keep them similar is most basic kinda hard to switch there becos my pc setup and cupboard is around there and not enuf space for listening space..i would prefer using 13.6' wall to setup increase separation between front lr to center |

Hi guys.. i bought a new lf 55c9 oled tv.. i am thinking of upgrading my current puny HT setup. I am using WAF-1 front speakers, X-CS encore centre then no sub as my PSB subseries 125 broke down. All is driven by yamah v475. However as my yamaha unit is an old model which is around for 5yrs, i would like to change to a new model to utilize the potential of my new TV. May i know what is the valuable setup for me? Or should i just go for soundbar for ease of use? I cant add the surround speaker as this setup is in a very small bedroom. and i cant hang my tv on the wall as it is a gypsum board type.
i am actually planning to declutter my space as the new tv will eat up alot of my front space.. so seems like soundbar is a more viable option.. but i am open to possibility. This post has been edited by ben3003: Mar 9 2020, 08:02 AM |

QUOTE(kevinlim001 @ Mar 9 2020, 08:34 AM) considering the space issue you are facing.. downgrade to soundbar could be an option or slim 5.1 set. give and take you would no longer feeling the power and channel visibility that you have now. Even your 475 is an old model i believe powering only 3 speakers is more than enough. if u still like the sound of ur existing setup just buy a subwoofer and you can do 3.1 just fine. but i will have problem doing 4k passthru right.. v475 macam only support 4k/30p passthru. actually i think because too cramped so the channel visibility is not much especially left and right, but middle channel is good for dialogue and voice. if passthru my input via v475, i also lose out HDR and VRR.. dang..LG actually chip in lgsl5y free for the TV. i think my current setupd definitely pawn it in terms of sound quality, but i get ease of use and definitely free out damn lot of space at front. my room is only 4.5m x 3.5m, with a queen bed and a desk for PC and wardrobe cramped in lol in the meantime, i believe i can only do ARC HDMI from my TV to AV receiver.. will lose out watever DTS HDMA TrueHD shit but i can get hdr and others working. QUOTE(kevinlim001 @ Mar 9 2020, 09:57 AM) if like tat is same like using ARC right.. optical out also only got DD+ or DTS.Bro so will it be better to get a newer receiver than can do HDR and 4k passthru with eARC? so i maintain my speaker setup, but i still cant declutter my front space lol.
