anyway to save up for a 7.1 most probably my budget would allow me to go for a normal bookshelf one (looking at Klipsch R-15M or RP-150M), so that I could put another pair as back speakers as the price of that RP250s is quite expensive.
*
If you plan to expand to more speakers (7.1.4 or more), it is advisable to use the same speakers everywhere. Atmos / DTS:X is here to stay. You want seamless panning of sound with the most minimal change in sound.

Another tips, make sure you choose a speaker that can handle your required listening level. Minimum distortion = priceless feeling. brows.gif

May I know what cables are you using for your setup? I don’t really fancy the idea of paying too much fo the cables as I noticed some shops do sell ‘high-quality?’ speaker cable but the price per meter is beyond what I am willing to pay. Any ideas where to buy reels of cable for a 15-16ft long room, I assume 12-14 awg suits for what I plan to do?
Yes, that’s what I have in mind now. All same brand speakers coz I’m just noob and honestly I like them all to look the same, meaning no mix and match for me I guess except maybe for the height speakers. Downgrading my last planned setup to an initial 5.1.2 or 5.1.4.

Plan to downgrade the AVR to Denon 4400H and add up Stereo amp later on down the line when budget is healthy once again.

Anyway saw Style Laser latest Klipsch HT 5.1 RP280 setup. Kinda tempted to take that. I forgot where I read on this forum but do they have good after sales service? Last time I remembered reading one thread from one forummer that buy from them and forget them afterwards. That scares me a little lol.
*
What after sale service do you expect from buying speaker? Do you think the HF driver will fail easily? Or do you expect some kind of speaker defect in the near future?

Bro, thousands of ringgit worth of equipments, the AVR, they CAN fail. Of course I expect some kind of after-sale service out of any place that I plan to buy these from.

Even all of my TVs they have extended warranty slapped on them. Brands ranging from Sony, Samsung and LG. I don’t trust brands, all electronics, sometimes they just fail.
*
make sure you know speaker companies that still continue to manufacture and provide support for parts that are 20 years old (or older) in market.

I used REW to measure then have it calculate the filters. As it won't match exactly, I choose as close as possible. Then I measure again and the results are pretty good. I can tell it is getting better as with each iteration the suggested correction filters are less.

Knowing what are my problem frequency, I can also set my own filter in REW according to what YPAO Manual can support and have REW estimate the outcome. I can then apply the filters on YPAO and check the results. It's time consuming.

YPAO correction is extremely limited, but I work with what I have and go from there. I'm thinking of investing in UMIK now that I know I can do the correction. I'll consider more professional EQ if the need arrises or when I have the budget.

I really hope that speaker companies do not follow the fate of Oppo digital... Now I can't find a competing uhd bluray player but the Cambridge Audio CXUHD. I want to future-proof my system but it seems like it's the format wars happening all over again, so I haven't pulled the trigger to get the player...

How about the Panasonic UB820?

as for ATMOS ceiling 6 or 8 inch make big different? planning to get 2 or 4.... haha.. 2 or 4 in small area.. maybe i would go for 2..or 4 is plausible?
*
Go as big as you can.
I'm using Klipsch CDT-5800-C II. Despite being 8", I'm quite disappointed with the audio quality due to lack of enclosure/backbox, but it is to be expected.

Because astro has only 1 hdmi out.
Leaving my soundbar dunno to plug what to get around.

So i tested when i plug the hdmi soundbar , got sound.
So not enough hole.

Can use optical astro cannot to soundbar?
*
I dont understand your English.
If the sound comes out from your soundbar, it's already a success.
Not enough hole for what? Astro sends both video and audio to the soundbar. The soundbar plays the sound. Connect another hdmi cable from soundbar to the TV. The TV display the picture.

astro > hdmi > soundbar > hdmi > tv

Great LPT.
I've been saving for more than a decade for a complete JBL Synthesis. Probably need to save till 60yo. tongue.gif
End up venturing into pro audio world as recommended by AVSforum members. No regret.

Ya i am using DSP Enhanced setting n only yammy A30.. series got this setting. Can any yammy users confirm its original like that or my avr got problem. Secondly bro normally what dsp setting u put for atmos format.tq
*
I don't t think it's avr problem. More like dsp effect. Why don't you set to straight (aka pure direct) mode and confirm?
I'm always on pure direct. Dialog lift if you need the front height speakers to augment your center channel. Other than that, i don't see the need for extra dsp, but some may like it.

Hello everyone...
I am planning to do a feature wall/feature tv cabinet for my HT area, refer attached picture below.
My idea is to remove my current tower speakers and get new bookshelf speakers along with a new center speaker.
Any advice for my setup in terms of design or recommended LCR speakers?
Pardon the novice doodling  sweat.gif
*
Since you are getting new speakers, I suggest you to buy 3 identical speakers for LCR. Place them above or below the TV.

So pay over 10k for this pre pro CX5200 but cannot even do bass EQ properly? Btw why you mention bass management? I thought bass management is just to set crossover which is any basic receiver can do?

I read abit on minidsp. Seems like a good device, but I cannot understand why must spend even more when already paying for premium model pre pro.
*
bass management is a very general term. speaker small/large, speaker crossover, lfe crossover, bass on subwoofer, bass on speaker+subwoofer, eq, phase, etc.
basic receiver can do basic bass management. to better ones with more tweaking options.
people buy prepro mainly for cleaner audio. eq is a totally different subject.
"premium" is subjective. if you think yamaha is premium, what is dirac, storm audio, jbl synthesis, trinnov etc? brows.gif
if your prepro has good eq option, you don't need minidsp (too noisy). minidsp is actually a budget hardware for eq. tongue.gif

QUOTE(JustCheeze @ Aug 4 2020, 03:19 PM)
Then why yamaha advertise like they are the best? Scam and bullshit?
I heard people say use good power cables and speaker cables is better instead of spending so much on room treatment which look ugly. This is what one shop told me. Is that true?
*
marketing.
your shop has failed terribly. they are trying to sell u stuff. the room or room treatment is number 1. electronic eq cannot fix that.

QUOTE(JustCheeze @ Aug 7 2020, 03:41 PM)
So you use minidsp for sub only? How you bypass the yamaha YPAO?

So you say cable story is maybe snake oil. This whole cable topic really making me headache. I don't know who to listen to already.
*
minidsp eq is downstream of avr/prepro eq. if the bass is well eq-ed by minidsp, there is nothing much to be eq-ed by the avr/prepro.
if u wanna try a budget auto eq device that is better than yamaha ypao and audyssey multEQ XT, u may get a 2nd hand dspeaker antimode.
join avsforum to learn the science. i'm a reference over preference kinda guy.
