most manufacturers (for general HT) are not really into eq. audyssey is not part of denon/marantz. onkyo ditched it years ago. pioneer mcacc was crappy too. frankly speaking, there isn't any good eq from all of them. too bad that audyssey stop developing multEQ and venture into headphones, mini speakers and car audio where there could be more money. the fact that most avr fail to set a proper crossover proofs how lousy the stock eq implementation is. that's why we need to learn a lot from communities like avsforum, get a mic and measure ourselves with REW. eq advancement on general consumer avr is already dead for many years.

u want a decent eq, u gotta step up to the next tier. that's how the market is. minidsp DDRC-88A with dirac became a hit for "budget" upgrade.

for me, yes, it's a better route if you just wanna stick to 5.1/7.1 as ddrc88 is limited to 8 channels. it exists in the era before atmos/dtsX. you can have 2 units of ddrc88 but it's more like a band-aid solution currently. too late to join the party.

in malaysia, anything with 5.1 or more channels is home theater
speaking of adequate sound, driver size matters. can't bend physics.

my advice to fellow sarawakians, just buy direct from oversea or local distributor (normally in selangor/kl). our situation is totally different from those in peninsular.

room with zero noise pollution
speaker that can playback with no(minimum) distortion
amp that can drive the speakers with no(minimum) distortion and no coloring
processor that can decode all the AV formats that you need to play
accurate display in a "black hole" room where the only thing you can see is the display itself
clean power supply for everything above

your samsung dvd hdmi out > hdmi capable avr > tv and your current speakers

always cinemascope and AT screen

Users with network receiver, what are the internet radio stations that are available here? is it (internet radio) easy to use? plan to buy for my old parents.

all brands use vtuner? i'm planning for yamaha.
vtuner $4 per year. also AiFM not in the list it's a big NO.

no. it's for my parents who listen to local radio stations. we have other means for oversea info.

i bought this kind of metal stand (1 pair) for approx RM300-400 many years ago. dunno the current market price. very heavy. provision for adding more weight if you think it's not stable enough.

did you find anything that is not too pricey in malaysia vs the us?

what you are experiencing is common if you watch a movie with 5.1 audio (or any surround audio) on a stereo speaker setup. 5.1 downmixed to 2.0 will create this mess.

At launch, the only microphone supported is the Audyssey ACM1h / ACM1hb microphone that is included with the AVR. However, support for existing pro customers is coming soon.
