Do share back how it is with the sound bar
*
Unfortunately nothing much to share, I went to test it but it was open space and lack of testing songs etc. The promoter just played one song via BT and seems punchy with enough bass. I guess for this one just have to trust the reviewers.

Oh and AVR confirm much more expensive than sound bar.... Or rather AVR with good speakers give better sound, but less high tech for the same price. eg no dolby atmos almost same price range with sound bar.

I will go with Samsung Q950T. If Q950A review very good and price diff not more than 1k, I might consider.

Depend on your objective vs budget. AVR and speakers for sure will win over sound bar even the most expensive sound bar. So you want quality sound or you willing to spend more to get the better quality sound

what sort of AVR keck seng carry now? do they still do denon 5.1 package?

for sound bar just keep it simple will do.. dont expect high tech thing because surround sound from sound bar required perfect reflection to work.. ur room layout need to be like how the sound bar was designed in order for you to experience it. In most of the case you wont get clear channel separation like what you are expecting for dolby atmos.

Thats why a lot of HT enthusiast do not recommend sound bar but instead they will encourage you to start with AVR + 2 front speakers as the starting point and start working out from there..

depends on your budget denon x3700h is a good starting point else x2700h will do the trick if you do not plan to do external amplification in future

They carry denon and Yamaha. Got a few obsolete brand on display where I don't know what they are. Mainly Yamaha and denon.

Hi guys, need some opinions on my home theatre system. Currently, using VSX-520, with Infinity speakers 5.1 setup. Due to cabling issues, I place the surround rear right/left in front together with front left/right speakers (yes, i know its not optimized). Mostly use this to watch astro, Netflix, youtube & downloaded movies, I noticed that whenever i watch astro, movies, Netflix, I need to turn on the volume louder to hear the dialog clearly. A lot of the times, the background/ambient noise of the movie drowns the dialog, is this a receiver setting issue or speaker issue? I am thinking of changing the 4 satellite speakers in front to 2 speakers, any recommendations for this setup? Budget around 3k.

Using the Advanced surround effects
The Advanced surround feature creates a
variety of surround effects. Try different modes
with various soundtracks to see which you like.
• Press ADV SURR repeatedly to select a
listening mode.
• ACTION – Designed for action movies with
dynamic soundtracks.
DRAMA – Designed for movies with lots of
dialog.

• ENT.SHOW – Suitable for musical sources.
• ADVANCED GAME – Suitable for video
games.
• SPORTS – Suitable for sports programs.
• CLASSICAL – Gives a large concert halltype sound.
• ROCK/POP – Creates a live concert sound
for rock and/or pop music.
• UNPLUGGED – Suitable for acoustic
music sources

have you tried to change to drama mode?
some are because the content are like that..
if you are not watching movies with surround effect you can try to switch you multi stereo to make all your speakers to run left / right only to see if that helps

receiver setting. since u place them side by side.
mcacc should adjust manually to same distance & db

a trick is wire surround set backward. black swap red and red swap black. so they wont conflict direction with front set

regular drama & stereo content use PL II music mode.
this mode speciality is u can fine tune center focus & surround focus separately.
almost achieve 5.1 feel where each speaker have own direction.
PL II MOVIE cannot. PL II GAME cannot

only surround codec like a dolby true hd & dts master use straight mode
vsx520 good enough to play around

yes, tried it before but seems like when i switch to DRAMA overall sound becomes softer. I am currently using EXTSTEREO as it sounds louder.

How is your center channel placed?

Everyone talked about receiver settings, but didn't mention how the center channel is placed which is the number 1 most important thing before anything else.

Center channel is placed right in front of TV, which i think should b its ideal place, no? Or do you mean there are center channel specific settings? I thing i noticed is that using EXTSTEREO effect, the center channel is louder compared to the left/right channels, which is why im using that effect.

Yes in front of the TV is correct, but I'm pretty sure that it's still compromised by the positioning of it.

1) Is it at the edge of your console table?
2) Is it titled upwards so that the tweeter is at ear level when you sit down?
3) What is the crossover set to for the center channel?
4) EXTSTEREO simply means all speakers are playing a 2.0 signal, you are no longer playing a 5.1 soundtrack. The center is louder because you didn't level match them.

1) It is not at the edge of my console table, but slightly to the left of the TV, not directly center. Because my TV stand is quite short, and when i put it dead center, it blocks the TV receiver signal.
2) No it is not tilted. The speaker is directly facing me when i sit down.
3) I'm a noob at this crossover thing, do you mean the cable or setting? Either ways, i did not set or change anything.
4) Noted.

I tried adjusting the speaker channels individually, i increased left/right to 3db & center to 2db, seemed to help a bit. Is there a recommended db for these?
