I think he mentioned 5.1.2 setup, that sounds like atmos.

5.1.2 IS basically an Atmos/DTSX setup, what are you talking about?

For the height speakers, are you planning on on-wall near ceiling placement or in-ceiling placement?

How do I recommend him a height speaker if I don't know if he's doing in ceilings, on wall or up firing? Jeez man. rclxub.gif

So I just list out the speakers that are obvious first.

A bit tense here so try to stay cool. I believe its just a misunderstanding here.

I am not saying anyone is doing it in the wrong way. I just want to put it in a different way to avoid any tense feelings here.

Ok... let's put it this way...

When I need further info before I can give my full recommendation, I will just ask for the required info ...

1) by posting my answer that "I will give my full recommendation after you tell me whether you want to use in ceiling or height or up-firing speakers for Atmos/DTSX". If I can ask for more details on Room size and dimension and waited for Deion's reply, I can also wait for another reply too, before giving my recommendations.

OR

2) and by posting this way below...
* Denon x2300w AVR (RM2.8k)
* A simple Klipsch Setup:
* RP160m L/R (RM2.5k)
* RP250c Center (RM1.7k)
* RP240s Surrounds (RM2k)
* SVS PB2000 sub (RM4.5k)
* 1 pair... Atmos/DTSX... Upfiring R-14SA (RM ___) OR In ceiling ___ (RM ___) OR Height ___ (RM ___)

Please don't misunderstand, I am NOT saying anyone is wrong and NOT criticising anyone here. Eventhough SSJBen was answering to Deion, I do acknowledge SSJBen's efforts and appreciated his help to Deion.

All it needs is just a different way of "ask, wait and reply" so everyone here will feel good and people can continue to help whenever possible. Ya, I do have my frustrations too. A cold glass of apple juice helps me to cool down, hehe.

Cheers.

I have bought a 55 inch TV recently. The speaker from TV is pretty flat, so I am intend to get a set of speaker that can enhance the sound quality. Could u please advise me which to choose? I prefer something not bulky and I don't use high volume too. The living room is only 4m by 7m. Budget is around rm2k only. Thanks

You may consider Yamaha sound bar. Btw, there are many brands of sound bar around 2k, you may walk in to the shop for an audition.

Since you just bought OLED Tv, it shows you are inclined to have better home entertainment experience; hence I wont recommend soundbar.

If you budget is low, try sourcing towards, used AVReceiver and speakers. You should be getting decent system within rm3k.

One place that you could visit is style laser, (they are online sales at mudah and lazada)

maybe SSJBen can provide more pointers

I have purchased sonos playbar. It's big enhanced compare to stock speaker from TV. Will get a proper speaker set once I move to my own house.

Anyways, I am pretty bad in hearing especially on high frequency. Did the hearing test for 3 test for last 4 years and all showing that my hearing capabilities dropped dramatically at high frequency.

Thats definitely an upgrade compared to stock ...enjoy! Sorry about your hearing prob sad.gif

It will be beneficial to many, if you could write some review on the Sonus soundbar you bought on; spec, price, and your own review.

Thanks and enjoy! rclxms.gif

I upgraded to a 55" led & find my current aego m very lacking even compared to cheap speakers nowadays.

Dug out my old sony mini compo speakers & want to compare against the aego sound but its using spring clip wires.

Is it possible to connect this to the led ? I think i need something in between but have no idea what blush.gif

For the height speakers, are you planning on on-wall near ceiling placement or in-ceiling placement?

With a fairly healthy budget like that, you have several options. Prices are estimate, better to check with dealers for the best pricing.

A simple Klipsch Setup:
RP160m L/R (RM2.5k)
RP250c Center (RM1.7k)
RP240s Surrounds (RM2k)
SVS PB2000 sub (RM4.5k)
Denon x2300w AVR (RM2.8k)

Above is just a standard recommendation. You can mix and match speakers for your surrounds and height channels, it doesn't absolutely have to be of the same design family.

There are other speakers to check out from the likes of ELAC UNI-FI line, SVS Prime, DefTech, QAcoustics, and Wharfedale just to name a few.

what you suggested is actually quite nice for a simple Atmos 5.1.2 setup. Saw your siggy and tried googling it, they are even better but a whole lot more expensive.

Wondering whether a RM12k-ish budget would allow for an Atmos 5.1.2 setup with a Denon XV2400H with Atmos-enabled height speakers, not the mounted typed, all floor-stand speakers. hmm.gif

Unless your ceiling is no higher than 8-10ft (optimum being closer to 8), is completely flat, reflective and you only have ONE single main listening position, I absolutely cannot recommend upfiring speakers. You'd either end up hearing next to nothing or the more likely possibility is that you compromise the entire soundstage of your other speakers.

If you cannot do in-ceiling or on-wall, my suggestion is just to put all your money into 5.1 or 7.1 instead. Quality over quantity, Atmos is awesome and all but if you want to do it, then do it right.

the Atmos-enabled upfiring speakers wont do the tricks? my upper room ceiling isnt that high also, around 9ft high.

my concern is portability still. Anyway still waiting for the LG SJ9 to arrive. Have to experience it first then start from there whether it's worth it to go for a full setup. Now doing some readings also on a proper Atmos setup, maybe planning to have a 5.1.2, the wall-mounted Atmos speakers is somehow not really ideal for me, for now.
