QUOTE(skeelee @ Sep 22 2015, 03:16 PM) Big size wire = Good cable? Not so, if you follow Allen Wright's Supercable Cookbook, in which I find the an explanation or pseudo-theory on what attributes of good audio cables are that I think make sense. The gist: Multi-strands are no-no. Solid cores are the best. The thinner the wire, the better. Similarly, the thinner the connector, the better. from my view, fat cable is not best but it gurantee wont bottleneck in electrical world, stranded for ac wiring while solid for dc wiring. i will aim for material type & purity percent This post has been edited by ktek: Sep 22 2015, 03:47 PM

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Sep 22 2015, 03:42 PM) ppl can argue between solid core and strand wire until tomorrow also cannot finish. electron tends to travel more on the skin of the conductor, so solid core tends to have more losses. Housing main cable are solid becos they are cheaper. Making wire into strands and braid them is more expensive. the thinner the strand, the better, becos more strands, less skin effect. yeah solid core electrical wire is cheaper but solid core for network cable is higher price This post has been edited by ktek: Sep 22 2015, 04:00 PM

distant between front spkr & distance to listening point. keep them similar is most basic
i would prefer using 13.6' wall to setup increase separation between front lr to center

QUOTE(LeChuCk @ Oct 16 2015, 10:00 AM) Might have a problem there as the fronts are mounted on the TV panel and I don't want to do any modifications to move the wiring if I get bookshelf speakers. Anyway, what do you mean by harmonized sound? Do you mean better staging and balance between both fronts and center? i got single piece spare speaker, ae aego-t u want to borrow ma?

QUOTE(gme @ Oct 17 2015, 10:56 PM) if i upgrade av to sr7008,...sound quality improve or same? given my choice will be keep sr6006 as processor only & connect pre out to power amp. 7008 has more spkr channel, 4k support & audyssey xt32 but not essential upgrade if aiming sound quality

QUOTE(LeChuCk @ Oct 19 2015, 09:06 AM) Unfortunately the center is already directly pointed to me and the L/R is placed higher but angled downwards.. Yeah, I also think so..sometimes can hear the speakers sound strained as well..looks like time to change them The Aego is also a cube compact speaker right? I am looking for a bigger driver speaker for my next upgrade. Thanks for the offer though. thats aego m mine is bigger aego t

QUOTE(LeChuCk @ Oct 19 2015, 05:01 PM) ok bro..thanks! my recommendation is minimum 5.25" driver to produce wide coverage of front stage & mid frequency going from aego t (single 4") to kef q200c (2x5") make me realise that i have wasted the av receiver capability This post has been edited by ktek: Oct 19 2015, 05:28 PM

alrite this is the binding post of front pair.
notice the HF and LF has copper link/ jumper removed. i make another run of cable to sr5006 amp assign port (zone2, surround back) have to very careful that red and black must follow, just split the HF to front spkr A port while LF to amp assign port. from avr menu, go system, spkr setting, amp assign to spkr-c which is the bi amp mode. after that make low volume test to ensure they are correctly connected. may need to calibrate audyssey since it cannot enable yet. QUOTE(d1huskey @ Oct 19 2015, 11:55 PM) I just bought a Velodyne cht10 subwoofer that I connected to a Denon AV receiver but it doesn't want to workunless I run speaker wires to my receiver. My receiver has a pre amp plug that I ran to the subwoofer but it will not work with that alone unless I have speaker wires ran to the receiver and it doesn't sound like it should. Any help you can give me I would appreciate it. denon what model? use mono rca from avr subwoofer pre out (purple??) to sub lfe input rca set subwoofer=yes, front spkr to small, crossover 80hz or accordingly. it should pass the bass unless ur in direct mode (dont use direct and pure direct) This post has been edited by ktek: Oct 20 2015, 01:05 AM

QUOTE(plumberly @ Nov 22 2015, 03:45 PM) Thank you very much. Thought some AVR is also excellent for music. Which system will you recommend for music? Amplifier only? Just to help me out, comparing 2 very good systems (AVR and XYZ system for music), on a scale of 0-10, are we looking at difference of 0.5 or 1 point? I know different ears different scores. But on average? Many thanks. You open a new chapter for me to find out! Ha. definitely got different & not 1 or 2 point

Anyone can share their setting on this? ms aviano 6 u can start from remove jumper link behind & change to short length copper spkr cable. play the binding post arrangement will improve too klipsch rb51 is reference model, quite flat eq design.

QUOTE(plumberly @ Nov 23 2015, 10:03 AM) Did some hunting on the web. The A850 is for audio and video. So for watching movie, use that? For music, use only IA? I guess it is possible to have separate dedicated video and audio systems (instead of AVR) to watch video concerts? I guess costs here will be very high. Cheerio. i would say, see the codec needed. dolby, dts surround must decode by avr. music disc (no video & codec) just need rca output to integrated amp.
