but i will have problem doing 4k passthru right.. v475 macam only support 4k/30p passthru. actually i think because too cramped so the channel visibility is not much especially left and right, but middle channel is good for dialogue and voice. if passthru my input via v475, i also lose out HDR and VRR.. dang..

LG actually chip in lgsl5y free for the TV. i think my current setupd definitely pawn it in terms of sound quality, but i get ease of use and definitely free out damn lot of space at front. my room is only 4.5m x 3.5m, with a queen bed and a desk for PC and wardrobe cramped in lol

in the meantime, i believe i can only do ARC HDMI from my TV to AV receiver.. will lose out watever DTS HDMA TrueHD shit but i can get hdr and others working.
*
possible to do optical out to AVR and video to TV?

QUOTE(yonghong @ Mar 9 2020, 10:06 AM)
thanks for reply bro. my living room area only about 16ft x 14 ft, will the speaker loud enough to cover?

I don think i will make full use of 5.1ch , 2.1 ch seems common use daily.

Mainly for music and also movie. i tried on SOny Ht rt 40 spound bar, which is 600watt,
the sound is super loud, but...so so only. not clear as even my home cheap Edifier E2100.

But most ppl recommend Edifier s350db, no doubt, the sound quality should be nicer lot than any soundbar?

only concern is it loud enough to make me immerse in the movie? lol. Anyway, i m not audiophile. as long got the ;feeling; , then is nice enough.

Any advise bro?
*
i believe yes but a lot of factor to consider like ceiling height and the placement of ur stuff that will absorb the sound wave.. S350DB really play loud..

i dont really trust soundbar so i hardly comment here.. lets see if we have some owner that can advise you on this..
S350DB got a solid box and sound solid.. i believe you can enjoy ur music a lot.. as for movie the subwoofer will give u some decent bass but dont play it for too long.. i feel that edifier amp tends to overheat over time and component start failing.. moderate use is recommended

Thanks for reply again bro.

Ya. soundbar....only the so call watts  make me confused only. n there is no display sets to let me test on Edifier S350db unit.

Mostly used on daily , music, n movie in weekend , should be ok for the subwoofer?
*
yea man.. i faced the same issue i went to harvey they do not have a display set only an unopened box.. no demo available.. i can only relies on online review..

just dont turn loud for long time to protect the amp.. turn off the power when you are not using it..

my c3 i left it on standby over weeks and it gave up on me doh.gif

try to buy ofc pure copper cable online..14awg or 16awg will work for you.. consider thinner cable (smaller awg) if the placement is near and thicker cable (higher awg) if your placement is further.

corrected thank you KTEK laugh.gif

okies thanks for the info.. i found 1 cheap onkyo receiver which can do 3.1.2 the tx-sr393.. it is much cheaper at 1.5k, but is like really barebone receiver with dolby atmos support. my current setup i definitely will not be doing any side firing and back surround as this is a bedroom setup, my listening position for movies is always when i am lying on the bed, similar to like a hotel bed and the tv setup. So i can only do 3.1 as the side is left side is wall but right side is wardrobe.. only way is to diy and mount the speaker to my divan head lol.. so is this receiver worth or i better just spend more to get something like v685 or denon s750h.. so dilemma on my setup, i can also only do upfiring for atmos.. my room height around 8-10ft but listening position is like 3m from my TV.
*
for me i will prefer 5.1 over 3.1.2. because as for current there are more movies/video with 5.1 than atmos. Some movie even with atmos also only have 10 to 20 mins of ceiling sound so ur speaker will be sitting idle there. 5.1 however is a more common setup. Basic surround movie will give u this surround effect. the placement can be on the side of your bed..
user posted image
just slightly behind ur bed will do..

upfiring is hit or miss.. it required perfect reflection to reach your ear.. u need to adjust the speaker to reflect to you properly.. you may end up ur speaker being place at the awkward location like the middle of your walkway.. if u really wan atmos u can consider ceiling speaker for better effect..

Sorry for interrupting.
I am also thinking to fix ceiling speaker for atmos. But from what u said it is like the ceiling speaker is not worth at all to install. Is it means that 5.1 is actually more than enough for a home theater??🤔🤔how abt 7.1??
*
i think shifus had help to reply.. both ktek and ssjbean made my point..
if u wan to play atmos ceiling speaker is better compare to upfiring speaker. For me 5.1 is the fundamental of surround.. other are extra that will give u the oomph... if the movie utilize those channels then only you will experience it... i would say the utilization for the rest of the channel pretty low.. if u watch non action movie i would say 90% of the audio will come from your front set only..invest ur best buck to give the best of front then slowly add the surround then to rear/atmos.. those are consider luxury if u have the budget then go ahead.. 1 rule thou.. buy those amp > no of ur speaker.. if u r planning for 7.1 get avr that support 9.1/11.1.. especially denon.. the more speakers u r connecting to it the more power being distributed to each speakers.. thats why i m still running 5.1 even i have a 7.1 capable avr

Hi Sifus here,

May I know how much basic budget will we need for a sound system in a small living room, use by 4K TV?
Mostly for Listening to Music, Youtube, or Watch Movie.
*
depends on what you want bro.. if u r looking for sound bar/component system you can settle at 1000+ to 2000+, if you are looking for AVR and 5.1 speakers it can easily cost u RM4000+

I'm using the 2x4HD.

Yes minidsp acts like a pre/pro. It takes some effort to set it up though and you need to know exactly what you want to achieve. Pretty much limitless possibilities in what you want to do with a minidsp.
*
some call it dac also bro? or is it a different thing in your context?

any reason why you are doing this? if you wan to have more low.. u can lower the crossover but it will take away some of the responsibility of the subwoofer

it's not the cable, because when playing music it's fine. only when I'm playing more than 2 channels (say 5.1 file) then voices become mixed up with the bass
*
change back to stereo output because 5.1 split all the work to all speakers.. center for vocal/voice, LR for music and .1 for explosive/low freq

and your tv cannot use for center.. it doesnt work that way

hi guys, i have a small room (approx 3.2m x 2.8m)

i wonder is it suitable to be a HT room? (aiming for a 5.1.4 surround setup and 65inch TV)

any advices? thanks.
*
can i say its not good? its 10x9 feet i m considering this as square room. its bad for standing wave.. can u make ur room to become 9x12?

light reading

normally we just utilize the room we have for HT. so we will have bear with the standing wave issue or to rectify it with acoustic panels.

if you are not able to adjust your room size, just do it my friend.. start enjoying.. the room is not small at least you can place all your speakers.. you will see how HK folks play HT in their tiny apartment. they dont even have space for speaker placement

any Denon AVR users here? which Audyssey mode u using and why?

Reference? Flat? or disable OFF?
*
reference.. they will apply room correction..
flat will remove room correction but your speaker distance , level still applies..
disable - no room correction/no timing / level correction.. all speakers playing by themself happily but not as a team.. bad for movies even song in some case

His room is an exact square. How does the standing wave affect his system's performance?

Yeah, they are the dealers, but I do wonder if they will be able to perform under warranty repairs. And they are located in Seremban which is at least 3 hours away from where I am.
*
where r u from? johor? if your are from north max has dealer at north you may able to get emotiva from his dealer.. but best to check with him.. so far i bought couple of sub and speakers from max. he is a friendly and patience guy. warranty wise if its within warranty period, not much hassle except you need to send in..

i am using a ultra center also.. but definitely your 6700 will give more power than my x2000. if you already decide the speaker just buy and put in your setup if you think is not enough you can always upgrade to power amp.. thats how we upgrade without waste.. ultra center work brilliantly in my case.. just sometime its too reflective sweat.gif
