hey guys.....wanna ask u guys a question...

when you setup your dedicated HT room.....would you prefer with windows?
if no.....how do you treat those air as after a certain period...there bound to be some 'wet' smell.....dunno how to describe it better....like stale air....

if yes, where would you have the windows?

currently my HT room is in the midst of building
the room is about 15.5' x 26.5'......i only have 2 walls to choose for windows

the 15.5' wall which is behind the projector screen
26.5' wall to the right of the projector screen....

i also thought of windowless room...

last questions....what colour scheme is the norm for HT room.....
my plan is to put acoustic panels on the wall and relevant places....but obviously over the painted surface

opinions and feedbacks much appreciated

dear sifus......i'm having this HT system in mind.....appreciate feedbacks and comments

Screen: 106" Grandview tab-tension
Projector: Sony VPL-55
Source: Oppo 105D
AV Amp: Onkyo TR-737
Front: KEF Q300
Rear: KEF Q100
Center: KEF Q200c
Sub: KEF Q400

cables are entry levels that just meets certain standards like HDMI 1.4 high speed
speaker cables are entry copper ofc

am not a real HT snub per se but would like a system that is separated from my audio

is the above setup ok???
is it necessary to go 2 x subs???

So here's my final setup.....

Projector : SONY HW55ES
Screen: Grandview 106" motorized tab-tension
Amplifier : Onkyo TX-NR737
Source: Oppo 105D
Front Speaker : Kef-Q300
Center Speaker : Kef Q200C
Surround Speaker : Kef Q100
Subwoofer : SVS SB2000
HDMI: Golden Sound HD-V1000
Speaker cables: basic ofc 16awg
Power cord: 2.5mm core power cords

Just had my projector calibrated today

based on the initial readings....Grandview + Sony 55es combo...the blue is higher than the rest of the colour
therefore during grayscale, the light gray shade had a purplish blue tint

it was under contrast and brightness was not set properly

I also had issues with the projector installed tilted down.....corrected that error and adjust projector to flat against horizontal line....used lense shift to adjust image height instead of V keystone which affected the full HD output....which also explained my 3D movies wasn't sharp.

LaminatedButterfly this setup look very familiar...hehehe

VeeJay20k is a good budget to start with

13'x13'obviously is not a preffered room but doable...

I'd get a 5.1system to start with....
Personally i prefer Onkyo avr....but other brands latest models do support Atmos and DTS-X as well.

I would go for minimum Oppo 103D for source....

Thinking to upgrade my focal dome front to bookshelf or floor standing speaker..

Any recommendation..

Was thinking moving 2 front focal dome to rear.. creating 7.1 then add another 4 ceiling speaker to 7.1.4 for dolby atmos

Hope some audiophile sifu can help

depending how serious an audiophile he wants to get into

using the AVR as pre and a separate power amp is an option....

for me....my audio and ht is separate setup...

What I meant is using AVR to output front L-R to another dedicated hi-fi setup for the AV duty, and use the hi-fi setup for audio without the AVR.
That is if you can only setup the gears in one place, and do not have space for separate front speakers for both AV and audio.
*
as good as having separate system in that case....am i right?

In of what it is not allowed to doing so?
My HTS speaker is not those hardwired with connector, it is more close to those AV receiver where it is wire clamp, you can easily plug in any speaker without any connector.

Another concern, maybe is the Ohm or Wattage of the speaker itself.
So, still need to change everything?
*
generally AVR supports 4ohms to 8ohms speakers

if you don't mind used stuffs...there are quite a few AVRs in several forums that may meet your budget

Dear HT sifu sifu....seeking some thoughts/opinions/ advise...

I have 2 SVS SB2000 subs....if i do level matching in terms of volume for all the speakers....should I make the volume level the same as the rest of the speakers??

I am using pioneer lx88 which has dual sub output....but not sure if they r left n right output coz they only label output 1 and 2.
In the MCACC...it does show which is left and right though

in MCACC speaker level, the test tone will play...and what I understand is that we should have each channel tuned to 75db based on spl meter....
When i did that to both subs individually...during playback time...the subs like overkilled and i hv to reduce the sub volume

The current xover setting is 100hz

Am i doing this right or wrong????

sub1 can put as left. sub2 is right.
u calibrate both to 75db.... sure over power
u may try use a y splitter to calibrate first, then adjust the same db to sub 1,2

i use ear to find the correct crossover by playing 1 setting per day.
*
Hmmmm good idea.....using a Y splitter...wont it change the lfe output impedance???
