Some people says tht VW is considered as proton in germany, lots of problem even for the malaysian.
Go read review on lowyat first.  There's a lot actually.

I've actually read all those. But did VW really improved over the years?

Like the dq200 mecha problems is solved by changing to mineral oil and etc.

looking for friend =P

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : 60-70k preferably
3. New/Used/Unreg : new
4. Specs : any
5. Transmission : AT (5 speed and above preferably, not a must)
6. NA or FI : any
7. Type : family car (6/7 seaters i suppose? like proton exora)
8. Remarks : must be brand new, currently he is looking into the brand new proton exora that's coming at about RM60k but if there are better choices out there for slightly higher price, I'd definitely want him to get a more reliable car.

Hi guys. A lil bit info about me.

Will be married this September and currently looking for 2nd hand car that matches the requirement above. Will be using that car primarily for weekend ride as my fiancée and I are going to work by motorcycle on weekdays. Looking for 90% loan for 5 years only so probably will find a new car 2 years after the loan finished.

What I currently have in mind is

1. Gen 2 - I somehow like the car for a long time already. I like the design but the latest manufacturer year is 2006 which makes me kinda question the reliability of the car on the road as it's a Proton @ 2006 technology.

2. Honda CR-V 2.0 - Spacious, Honda should be reliable right?

Thanks in advance guys! thumbup.gif

sorry i haven't really had the time to get it done.

long story short cheapest base model is better than Vios J or E in terms of safety, spec and looks. most expensive is much more worth it than Vios TRD, good enough if budget do not permit for a civic or want to avoid 1800cc roadtax as it is good enough for family needs eventhough it is a B-segment the rear is very spacious.

Mazda 2 sedan looks real ugly with high ass.
Mazda 2 hatchback is no upgrade from a Myvi in terms of space nor performance.
VW Polo Sedan is the Vios of this brand, cheap and cheerful but don't expect much in terms of FC and performance -- spacious though.
Ford Focus is decent choices you get everything in one package except maintenance might be expensive.
Ford Fiesta is a better choice and with many on the road the parts are easily found and rather cheap if you stay away from 3S.

sylphy might be ugly but its cheap to maintain, cheap to buy, not very old.

almera - under power, ugly
forte - it's korean!
insight - good choice, not as spacious as a sylphy
city - for your budget only can get the basic one from the newest range, quite a good car but interior feels cheap.
city - previous gen, high FC

Saw previous generation E-spec can get around 68-70k. Previous E using disc brake instead compared to current using drum. Better value I guess. biggrin.gif
