You are spot-on on my old trusted Wira.

Yes, it lacked safety features compared to  Preve,  but again in the nineties not much budget Japs car comes with safety features too. But then again, driving is a risk & even if your car have all the safety features, shit does happen. I once kena knocked by a student driving an Iswara from the side, rear left passenger side & my Wira spins a few rounds  but just did not not overturn [ maybe due to Wira's low profile on factory 13" rims + standard 175/70 tyres. damage only to the external body of my Wira but not to my wife & myself, just shaken with the impact. It was on the 6 lanes highway in front of Kg Pinang Tambahan[ KL ] & luckily not much car was around that area that time , only another car, a W124 was grazed on the side from the student's carelessness.  sweat.gif
Btw,regarding the changes to insurance premium, when will it commence & what major changes will take place ?
*
Wira can just simpanlah, unless everything happens to be at once or if your car is rusty...

Bout the insurance bit, I would also like to know more.... All I know is they gona slaughter me.... cry.gif

hi all,

wanna to buy Preve, but the p1 SA said he know one second hand car dealer, ask me to go negotiate with them myself.. since we have to nego ourselves, why they put a "tinggi trade-in" in their brochure...

Car going to let go:
P2 Viva 850 (M), year 2009, genetic silver

Anyone here familiar with second hand car dealers at Melaka? Plan to find dealer myself this round icon_question.gif

Real talk, will i be able to afford the maintanence and running costs of a Civic FD / FD2 with this income? I know its kind of
delusional of me, but hey a guy can dream right? Thanks
*
ill just answer the real talk bit....
technically depending on the amount of your commitments, you might be able to afford one.... but frankly speaking, if things do go badly wrong, it will be very tight for you.... why take the chance?

if you like this, cause of its looks, well this particular car is on the verge of ahbengness (my 2 sen sahaja... im a frim believer that a car should look as fast as it can go), all looks no go. if you want an fd due to its performance, i shall redirect you to the inspira, u save more, you get more performance

*another thing to note is, hold off buying one of these for a while, i think its value will depreciate further once the new civic is launched and starts to run about....

I know, some of the kits make the car look so ahbeng.
I don't know, design wise, i prefer this generation rather than the newer ones (2012 and above).

I guess ill hold on to my iswara till the prices drop then. Never considered the Inspira, tho it is a handsome car.
Nothing will sway my feelings for the FD looks. Thanks for the feedback!

may drop, may not drop im not the expert, but it definitely will not appreciate so no real harm waiting abit to see what happens.

For daily beater, 130km/day (90% highway, 10% town road). Which one would you suggest?
Important Criteria(in that order)
1) Reliability
2) Maintenance cost
3) Fuel consumption

I usually drive a car till its burned to ashes. So I'd like this one to last me at least 10years or 250,000km
*
Reliability
-both also relatively reliable
Maintenance cost
-civic being the bigger, more powerful, more performance oriented car of the 2 will cost more to maintain
Fuel consumption
-1.5 vs 1.8, generally speaking long distance almost the same, town driving ofc city

Guys, buy used Altis 2001-2006, what are the usual car specific problems to check for?
*
reliable tank.... just check for wear and tear, stuff like that
-wear tear (see if realistic)
-accident damage
-check if everything is working (being a tank usually ok)
-check what has been replaced (whatever it is, assume its a lie unless receipts are provided OR you can obviously tell by looking)

ok thnx

this kete kebal normally just need to add strut bar to stop it from boating right?
*
that depends on you....its a pro con kind of thing. the bars do make the car a little harsher so it really depends on what you like...

some pipu say its very stable.... imo a car built for comfort isnt really something that would really be considered 'very stable'
to be fair, its not that bad... not like it feels like it will roll over every time you turn unless you are speeding that is

yes wira is a very good car. However it is an old car. yes exora is the cheapest bunch of the cfe model in proton. The price is around 67000.00++ after rebate but preve cfe is around RM70000.00 after rebate. and suprima s cfe is around 70000.00 after discount. And iriz mt which paultan say it is the best affordable car is around RM 41000-51000.00. So which proton car do you want me to buy in miri?or do you want me to buy waja cps which is around 20000.00 or perdana v6 2008 which is around 19800.00 or iswara lmst 2006 which is around 3000.00 or wira 2007 which is around 6500 in kk. i found new price of proton cars in miri because the chinese sales man named issac thai gave it to me

-skip the perdana, imo not worth it at 20k and that gearbox is a pain in the ar$$ if not maintained
-thats no lmst.... not even an lmss

fixed

i guess it will be suitable for you? (other han the performance, its horribly underpowered which inhind sight, is alittle strange since you were concerned about performance)
abs ehh... it has its advantages i guess.. but imm a sucker for old school stuff, id pick a good set of tires, pads and brakes over that.... technically abs increases your stopping distance alittle bit, but keeps you going in the right direction. BBK ftw

Try putting negative keywords like "lousy, crap, fail, etc" for newer Proton cars in youtube, you won't find any, you'll find lots of positive marketing videos and reviews only. Is it truly that good?  innocent.gif
fyi the older genting taxi model has a complicated multi link suspension for the rear while this newer one is a torsion beam only, so handling isn't as good but you're not flying up genting everyday right?  sweat.gif
not to bust your balls but local reviews are more like paid advertisements even if they're not paid to say nice things about the car they can't be honest about the negative side of the car, they have to skirt around the issue or state it but not highlight it.

additionally, in a B-segment battle what kinda idiot would put the Axia (A-segment) in the mix?

i'm not surprised as these are the same guys that compared Mercedes CLA, BMW 316 and Audi A3 as if they're of the same class/segment only because the pricing in malaysia is similar.  rolleyes.gif

anyway end of the day the choice is in your hands and you've gotta pay every month and drive it everyday, think about that before you buy it, if it makes you happy driving it everyday and month end paying it you don't feel cheated or you could've gotten something better then choose what u wanna choose.

i'm here to help newbies be better informed not help people choose cars.

in bold is what got me facepalmed in the 1st place.... and their really lousy 'no abs' reasoning

italics is why i dont watch any paul tan videos

but still proton iriz beat axia and myvi in terms of handling and others except fc
*
my personal opinion between the 2.......
maivee beeats it in a few aspects...
-built quality (no by much but at least most of the dash aint as fiddly)
-power the 1.5 seems alot more friskythan a 1.6 axia
-comfort back sets of the myvi are nicer to be in, not sure why.... iris rear leg space seems to be very cramp though reviews say otherwise?

iris basically
-better handling, safety, gadgets, (i do like the interior looks as well, fancy)

good knows which engine is more reliable, the myvi has old proven tech, the iris has new, old tech (cause they are still behind times) which might be reliable (not proven yet, still pretty new)...
now, when it comes to maintananceim going out on a limb here and going to say that the myvi will be cheaper to maintain... lots of parts already out there you can salvage parts off the boon and passo and many other toyota/diahatsu's...

proton iriz mt is a good car in terms of build quality right now and it is better than myvi and axia in terms of handling, build quality, suspension, nvh, performance, safety and others thanks proton gen 2 and waja cps's qc were also good before but that was in the past
*
well.... have seen both cars almost side by side (both top specs), have to disagree about the built quality part frankly speaking while im not saying the myvi has fantastic built quality, its less creaky and less scratch prone than the iris.....

i also stand by my opinion that the iris is really an underwhelming car when you talk about performance.... there literally is no rushed feeling in its acceleration.... stable it is, but a fast car? nah... the 1.6 does not feel anything like a 1.6, my dad's old junk 1.6 satria felt alot faster (significantly faster)

nvh..... this is another aspect where i will personally disagree with you i dont think its much better if anything its about the same.... (myvi i sat in had older tyres hence why im guessing it was alittle noisier)

**and dont use quality and the words waja, persona,or gen 2 in the same sentence.... friends 6 yr old (about 6) gen 2's dash is pealing.... no idea how to even help him solve that cheaply short of wrapping it

so wira is out. I am left with exora bold mc2 cfe or cps or preve cfe or iriz mt or waja or saga lmst or suprima s

But sadly proton iriz was placed in 3rd place in the history of proton

you are right but i agree with a disagreement. Proton iriz has to get the third place because you still do not understand about iriz because it is better than myvi in everything except fc.
no in the 5th should be proton exora bold mc2 4th place is waja 4g18 right. but in the 6th place should be suprima s
and next 7th place should be preve cfe.
*
dude... consolidate all your replies into one please.....

that site you linked... seems more like a troll site to me..... i mean look at its arrangement, it contradicts even you! if you are gona take that seriously, best you dont get a proton in the first place

we can only agree to disagree then, simple.... anyway i understand the iris well, and if you disagree with me and like it, just buy it, nobody is stopping you.......

you know what, im just gona agree with you now. iris > bmw sweat.gif

done.... explained here... heck our ministers even said it, how can i disagree with them doh.gif

Hi Folks,

I am looking for a 2nd hand car and i am not willing to shell out a big chunk of money for it as I will only use for 2-3 years and will be using it just to roam around KL and PJ.

Im thinking of getting:

-Viva Elite
-Kelisa

between the two which is better? i know that kelisa is a bit older but a lot of people say that this is a very reliable car although viva is much more modern in terms of the year.
*
Personally would go for the viva.... Simple reason, its newer that's it
(Does not mean you should run it to the ground and ignore servicing it ofc)
