Hi, I am IAM program coordinator at MC Orange Institute. We will be having our first intake in August, www.julianconsultinggroup.com

Well, most fresh graduate will ask me, how much should I quote in my salary?

I reply in this way,

RM 1500-1800 before 25 YO
RM 1900-3000 before 30 YO
RM 3000-5000 after 30 YO

But, you need to justify what is yor qualification and what kind of skills do you have. Usually, employer will judge based on one on one skills that you have. Like if you have computer skills, I give you RM200, if you know how to negotiate, add another RM200 so on and so forth.

You can prepare a list foryourself as well.

To be honest, I think our entire salary structure should be re-structured again to suit the current economic state of our country.

Else, then we need to live a prudent life.

lol ... yes, salary fix by company budget 1 whistling.gif ...

for boss, they all wish to hire those people that 'know' everything in cheap price so they can bao san bao hoi ...

example i saw a programmer's advertisement with those criteria

proficient in c/c++ is a must...
knowledge in java and .net is preferable....
knowlwege in web design also is preferable .....

best way is to do a full time job + part time business(not MLM). then no need to be so stress relying solely on the job for survival.

Agreed. Most of YOU earn more than 3K before 25YO except me hehehe but seriously:

I assume that relevant experience is the guideline to decide the salary, but if you talk about age, younger crowd esp. fresh grad tend to be more eager and are more open to innovation. Thats how I got *tricked* into my current job too, the promise of being allowed to innovate.

Asking salary is very subjective, most companies oredi have a set budget no matter what ur asking price is. Its not often that the hiring department (e.g. IT) can tell HR to offer beyond their salary scale or make exceptions.

If ur a fresh grad, go for the challenge. If you get easy job as first job later damn suffer...

Hehe is that RM or RPM? Fair enuf lah I agree too...

The going is very tough right now with all the increasing expenses. Most companies also gonna transfer the increase to consumers as well as their own staff also - i.e. making tougher appraisals, less welfare and all sigh...

haha u made decision too fast, but dont even think of negotiating ur salary with your boss, you might juz lose your job and i believe you wont have the courage to speak up to your boss bout ur salary kakakaa...either you leave or you accept...choose 1.. ^^ i chose to go on sales, higher return if you work hard... you determine how much u want to earn ^^

dude, pls take this personally, u're spoiling the employees market u know that? ppl like u offer to work for that price, i mean i agree with Mr. Boltonman, b4 petrol hike is OK, but now..... shakehead.gif

its also not good for u, but looking on the bright(realli) side, u've got yourself a job bette then none, if u negotiated u could get at least 200 more, but let the bygone b bygone......its not the end of the world pls survey the market price b4 u agree nextime:sweat:

when they want u its all negotiable, unless they dun give a f**k who they hire, then i dun see u hav any prospects there, jz step on them n move on (aka stepping stone)

also, wish u good luck in your future career

To be fair I don't believe they WANT to take low salary, sometimes its the situation where they oredi 3 months no rice to eat, have to get a job, or the employer promise all sorts of things and you believe the bugger, and such.

don't so fast make judgement..
my case is same as your one..
starting salary only 1.8k.. probabation 6 months, no increase salary after probabation..
salary review based on yearly performance..

and i thought i'll be stucked at 1.8k for a year..
it took 8 months til they confirmed me, and i got raised for RM200..

i was a fresh grads last year.. and my target is only 1.8k (thz god the job also gave me 1.8k)..
i don't know what's the starting salary now.. perhaps 1.8k is maybe too low..
cause i found that without car and house, i still cannot save money sleep.gif"
maybe i also should talk to my boss to increase my salary.. tongue.gif

If I'm an investor and wanting to invest a plant in Malaysia and I see you people asking 5 K salary, I'll be looking elsewhere like China or India smile.gif

This is definitely not a very correct statement, investor will have to worry about IP when they setup a plant in China. Chinese are very good in mimicking the original products and sell in cheap price. That's also the reason why you won't see big companies like Intel, AMD are going to setup a wafer fab there. doh.gif

Although your point is a well known fact, still China has become an investment pit and India is not far behind. Where is Malaysia sitting ? Malaysia still can't come up with revolutionary ideas, no patents and technical skill. If we cannot stay competitive in terms of cost, times will be bad. Singapore has already move to R&D and less on manufacturing. Malaysia is suffering from brain drain and increasing cost.

Normally who start their career in mnc will get that price and starting pay is rm2.5k.

I guess you're working in local SMI rite ?
Just discuss with your boss when you feel you have holding something important and can negotiate with them and it is also depends on thier budget. Or just hop to mnc.

No matter how much we complain, the cost of living will definitely soon overtake our income. I believe that the income gap will increase as well to two extremes.

The rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer.

I guess it really depends on your lifestyle. There are many methods to make your RM3k stretch quite a bit.
