Any tips to improve fuel efficiency?
My 2 yr old alza seems to be getting less miles per tank... Max city n mix driving full tank can get abt 350km

so should we consider the warranty extension to 5 years? (3+2) cause some that take 9yrs loan if after 3 yrs sell will rugi hell of alot  rclxub.gif
*
Makes no difference… 3+2 is basically 3 years from Perodua, 2 years from insurance… If you know of VW's 2+3 years warranty, this is the same shit… Don't bother extending it...

2nd hand value good? This new Alza gearbox i think is ok after MK 1 problem, very smooth and better NVH. Silverstone M5 now is the biggest issue, noisy and noob grip. Thanks man, rattling sound is coming from 3rd row more day by day lol sweat.gif

Bought mine Premium version 62k… After 3 years, 35k only...

aiseh no way to avoid not forking out or avoiding some major problems on the alza, did you manage to soften the blow on your pocket by taking any counter measures? (im sure u will say that you sold of and bought the jazz laugh.gif )
*
Oh yes I did… tongue.gif

Since I did not take any loan for the Alza hence no extra payment for loan interest, 27k depreciation is still well below the half price mark, dump everything else on a Jazz…

Don't get jeles yea…. whistling.gif

QUOTE(singk @ May 30 2014, 10:53 AM)
fellas, for the Alza facelift, do you observe that the air cond water dripping on the steering rack? in other word, the drain hose wasn't extended to get the air cond condensate to drip on other place than the steering rack. I just took the new car for my dad and found out this. I'm kinda concern on the long term effect on the water dripping and the rusting. I'll go to feedback to SC during my 1st service and see what they says. The car is just 3 days on the road, so far everything OK albeit i heard some ticking noise intermittent, too rare to happen that i able to nail it down.
*
el-crappo…! I thought they fixed the issue with a recall on both Alza and 1st-gen MyVi 2 years back…

Check your steering rack again see if the affected area is wrapped with some sort of transparent plastic, and if the water hose is extended...

Else go highlight to SC and get them fix it for you… It seems like P2 never improve on quality...

I just read through all complaint at myperodua fb page. New alza got so much quality issues, from tint to paintwork.... So im not waiting until next friday, instead Monday will cancel my loan....so frustrating with perodua.

Subangkidz,  new vios also got unsolved prob, a knock sound at front when hitting a bump/uneven road. Many cust 'hentam' umw toyota at their fb page...
*
Any newly designed models bound to have some issues, that's why facelifted models are introduced… However for the Alza, it is currently on the facelifted model, still plagued with pre-FL problems…

I bet when you go cancel loan, your SA will bug you to say "Your car just arrived!"… And some poor sap will have to wait for his/her car even longer… tongue.gif

QUOTE(subangkidz @ May 31 2014, 11:52 PM)
how abt the new honda jazz 2015? prelaunch is staring now. but will take long time.

therefore only options are:
1. honda city
2. honda jazz 2015
3. toyota vios - i still think it is worth it even with problems, resale is good
4. erm suprima s - gearbox not really good for the price range, if near alza then okay
5. kia rio?
*
And I thought you were laughing at me for getting a Jazz… I supposed you have to eat your own words then whistling.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Here's my take before finally got my current Jazz:

1. Honda City (old model) - facelifted, outgoing but less problem of a model. Very interested, but sadly I couldn't get one on time, ran out of stock due to 10k discount.
2. Honda City (new model) - Can't wait for the new one coz 3 months wait prior to lunch. Going back to CVT I takut a bit since Honda's debacle with CVT two models back. Rule of thumb, new stuff maybe problematic.
3. Honda Jazz 2015 - Not yet launched, some improvement over current Jazz, the rest pretty much the same as new City with CVT gearbox, probably only 2 disc brakes, if Honda introduce multiple variants like City, then low-end Jazz no VSA, else get ready to fork out 90k.
3. Toyota Vios - Never give a damn, expensive and no ESP, not even on G or TRD spec.
4. Suprima S - Engine of unknown reliability (nanti turbo pecah), noisy CVT box, and high FC.
5. Kia Rio - A really serious contender to the current Jazz. I was thinking of getting this one as well, lots of toys, pretty well-equipped. Downside, only 4-speeder for a 1.4, FC makan like a big ass SUV, not yet facelifted, so a lot of problems to sort out as well. Noises everywhere (especially mechanical, not aesthetics). Some even resort to pumping RON97 to get rid of some engine noises...

So that's why I ended up with a current facelifted Jazz… cheap and basic, so far no problem, comes with VSA (or ESP), 4 disc brakes, 5-speeder, peppy engine… Only downside is the smaller cabin space compared to Alza…

So if your arrogance still get the best (or the worse) of you, then you can ignore my advices here. I bet they can still benefit other people here.

My Cons on Alza:
1) Rattling sound from behind, need time find out but i'm lazy so i can tahan, still new not prominent the sound.
2) Brake pad is poor, brake press height level can be adjusted.
3) Bumpy absorber - change better absorber when is kong
4) Stock tyre less grip and noisy
5) Alternator kick in too frequent, light dim when it kick in.
5) Still finding.......

Engine performance:
0-5000km -  Lack of power can be felt. After 2nd oil change, smooth and responsive.

NVH:
Better than previous gen alza due to added sound insulator for this new facelift alza. Engine sound 3K above sound only start noticeable.

Conclusion: Still the same, i buy this car is because of price and worthiness. Alza SE Ivory White owner 3 months here is recommended for a buy. Previous car: 1st Myvi, 2nd Forte, current Alza. Hope my review can help you all. smile.gif
*
1) It may come from the blackbox at the rear window of the trunk door. Stuff some insulflex inside it… ALso could be from your spare tyre compartment where the tools for changing tyres are stored… They can give out rattling sounds if not properly seated. Fill the gaps with insulflex or whatever you can find...
2) Change to better brake pads for stronger braking and lesser dust on rims...
3 and 4) Changing to better tyres may alleviate some of your bumpy ride… SS Synergy M5 is hard...
5) Did you mean air-cond compressor…? Go look for uncle tyenfei, get his Edge VS…

And why did you move from Forte to Alza…? blink.gif blink.gif

In terms of safety, yes suprima so much better. Abs, ebd, ba, ha, tc, esc, 6airbags....80k price tags for that safety its worth.

Vios all range only have 2airbags, abs, ebd
City only highest v spec got 6airbags, traction control
Altis all range same like vios, unless u buy altis 2.0v + safety package then it'll equipped with traction control n 6airbags.

But as u know its proton, SC will be my 2nd home after this...

True.....scared most on cvt not the turbo.... Hehehehe..

Maybe dats why perodua stick to 4sp mech gearbox... Not say its 100% prob-free, but the risk to fail should be lower i think...
*
Perodua should at least source a 5sp AT for the Alza and MyVi... 4sp is ancient considering most manufacturers are into 5 or even 6sp

another way to look at it is i'm worried alza will disappoint me with too many faulty problems. (but i do drive a 01 wira 1.3 a/b, so my driving pleasure is satisfied quite easily)
*
Used Camry nice to drive, nice to show off... But once it comes to maintenance, your pants gonna drop...! 2.4V petrol makan minyak like shit... Full tank RM 125 on a sluggish RON95, but gives you mileage about 600km or less, that's about 10km/L or 10L/100km...And with age, it's gonna makan more...

Alza can at least still can give you 12.3km/L or 8.13L/100km lugging the heavy ass, of coz don't expect much power compared to Camry lar... And when it comes to repair, you have 3 years to warranty, so if it does give you NIGHTMARES, you don't have to worry about forking out money for repairs, you will only need to fork out TIME going in and out of SC... tongue.gif

Else fork out more for a City, more warranty, more fuel efficient, more peace of mind... whistling.gif whistling.gif

QUOTE(Miaovin_cat @ Jun 9 2014, 12:37 AM)
I had installed UR strut bar, this is my review on 3 months usage so far

Pros: Handling and stability improved. Good combination with the already installed stock stabilizer bar behind on every Alza by P2. 130kmh stable like forte. 130kmh above noob stock tyre face showing in - noisy and less gripping ability on Synergy M5, you will more likely stay below 130 for cruising. Car body and steering is more solid feel. Car is more rigid and can improved slightly brake performance (not too significant) due to reduce of body roll.

Cons: Steering is became more sensitive. If road is straight and your alignment is out abit, here comes the cons, you need more little effort compared to no strut bar to keep align the steering straight.
Price: 120 (Included install)

Misc:
I went Gua Musang go and back from kl today(terrible jam), go and back 15+ new alza spotted. Very hot car now, with myvi price get extra space. My support to this car again is well worth -best of the price for mini mpv.
Exp: 1) With 4 pax inside overtake trailer or lorry, revv like 1.3 1st gen Myvi.
        2) Ueven road like sea wave pattern road, get your seat belt tighten you will be a kangaroo. I'm thinking spring
            buffer will solve this?

More or less is like this i can share.  smile.gif
*
I won't call that cons... Now that you have UR bar installed, get grippy tyres like Michelin PS3, then you can throw your Alza on every corners you can find with confidence... By the way, does that UR bar reduce vibrations and harshness...? I never install those bars, instead I foamed the chassis, so I get less vibrations and harshness, at the same time improve handling, whack corners and potholes with confidence... Usually I cruise 140kph avg steady...

But one thing I hate cruising on the Alza is due to the 4 speeder. 140kph goes around 3.5k rpm, noisy engine like strangling the chicken while forcing it to chicken-run around...

980 for the underpart chassis lor...

A, B, C, and D pillar separate charges... 300 per pair of pillars... Yes KL Auto is pricey... But that was the only one I knew of at that time (say 3 years ago) before other competitors started sprouting...
