Are u a car tinter?

Is there any car tinter can verify this FAMOS brand?

The seller told me this haven't even been launched in Germany.

FAMOS S3 Complete.
*
no need to be a car tinter to know the good and branded tinted.
for me, only 3M, V-Kool, huper optic & Llumar are really a branded and using a imported tinted...
just make sure go to authorized dealer then you know..to avoid fake tinted...

Hi,
Would u advise on the best tint of both safety and solar ( the darkest JPJ passable ) for Honda Jazz?
i am not taking the promo tinted offered by my SA ( V ARMOR )

currently looking at reputable raytech/llumar/3m in kuala lumpur.
if possible with the current market price would be nice.
thanks you all smile.gif
*
for 3M in Kuala lumpur...... i recommend you to go 3M ampang.. alongside MRR2, nearby flamengo hotel...
I tinted there before raya... really satisfied with their workmanship, friendly boss.. and so far 3M is the best heat rejection tinted i ever used..

The price is for windscreen only, are you sure it is cheap? I did 3M last year, RM500 for windscreen only. RM800 is the crytaline grade, I took lower grade one tongue.gif
*
what type of 3M you put at your windscreen.. might try on my windscreen. is it a smart tag friendly? thanks

Sorry, I not sure the name of my grade, I only remember they told me the best grade is crystaline. I opt for lower grade (RM500 compare to RM800), also because this is not my daily car.
This car change name of ownership, and puspakom tear off my windscreen old vkool, side window pass the test. I kind of regret choosing the lower grade one, because this compare side by side to my Vkool (already 4 years) side window, the old VKool feels cooler. Anyway, I get what I pay for lo. Just dont expect after tinted, you car will become super cooling  tongue.gif

Ya, it is smart tag friendly, but about 90% la, but I dont think it is the tint problem. Should be the smartag problem, sometimes battery weak, sometimes that smartag toll lane just want to screw with me  biggrin.gif
*
Thanks 4 your expalination boss.. btw i heard most of the crystaline is not smart tag friendly...but 3M had a smart tag friendly one... RE 70 i guess... i used this one few years back..
may i know your specs... tser? vlt? where did you install it...?

QUOTE(brobro @ Jan 22 2016, 12:28 AM)
Today I went to a raytechcs shop (location undisclosed), went to see their quotation and recommendation, I say my budget max RM2.5K. What they quote me is :
1. RX (black) for 3 rear windows,
2. 2 RX normal front side door mirror,
3. and for windscreen, they quote me raytech 70 (?), I didn't remember the name though, but it has 78% VLT, that one I remember. I try to find this in raytech website but couldn"t find similar name.

Then I pay them RM50 deposit, book a slot in the evening. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it and when I try to refund the RM50, they refuse, saying it is in the system already and later big boss asking why customer cancel and bla bla bla. I told them I will be going oversea for 1 month and will only come back end of feb, but they still refuse to give me the rm50 and ask me to come back later for installation.

My question/comment is:
1. Is the tint they quote me really worth RM2.5k? Is the spec overkill?
2. I think I should be getting back my rm50, but since I didn't have time to argue more, I just told them I'll come back next time. Truth is, I think they are not customer friendly.
*
If i were you.. i will never back to that place anymore.... in the system already my #ss..!

Bro, the boss also talk with kerek attitude towards me, like I cannot afford the 2.5k when I cancel the installation. Truth is, I have other business I have to attend to. And they have no right to take my booking fee, they should refund me. I don't want trouble and I also short of time, so I just leave the shop without the rm50.

Btw, do you think the spec they give me is worth rm2.5k? Or is that an overkill?
*
with RM2.5K you can find another reputation brand like 3M or Vkool (got selling in other countries too, not malaysia only..) like one of forumer said before and the most important is attitude of the seller...
if their attitude like that. how could you sure they won't cheat you by installing low quality film... actually the tinted shop made much profit since the film they bought in bulk...

I'm on a budget coz I have an ICE project coming up. Frankly, I don't really care about brand since they all seem to crap out after 5-6 years anyway. And I'm not prepared to shell out over RM1000 for high end tints that are purported to last forever.

I called, they quoted me an extra RM100 because my ride is an SUV and another RM80 to remove the old tint. Sunroof will be another extra depending on their measurement.

I'm going Tuesday next week at noon.

ok boss... , please give some feedback .. quality of film and the workmanship.. smile.gif
and attitude of seller too.. biggrin.gif if possible..

OK so I went to VNESS tintshop yesterday in Sect 15 Shah Alam for the Hamel tint promo. Here are the results:

1) They tried to upsell me the Hamel III package. I refused.
2) Hamel II RM559 package ended up costing me an extra RM150 to tint the std size sunroof + RM80 to remove the old tint. Add in GST, I ended up some RM940 poorer. On a hindsight,  should have rejected that sunroof quote...
3) They called me an hour later saying they couldn't remove the old tint from my rear window without destroying the rear window de-mister element. I had no choice but to let them destroy it.
4) When I collected the car, they didn't tell me about the rearview mirror they broke too. I called them later and raised hell, then he agreed to let me buy a replacement and give them the receipt for a refund.

Broken rearview mirror.
[attachmentid=5925043]

Hamel II promo says 50% VLT. Does this look like 50% VLT to you? And it looks to me like the front windshield has the same tint as the side windows too, and this results in an annoyingly hazy view for the driver whenever direct sunlight hits it. WTF man...

damn... i really hate the shop that promo something.. but offer something different when we arrived at shop... sometime this tint shop is like crooks or mafia when we didn't accept their offer... i am afraid the break your review mirror on purpose.. thats why they didn't inform you..perhaps this becoming the new strategy for tinted shop..if you read in the earlier post of this tread.. one guy..his roof car had been dented with 'paku' when he ask for discount.. so bas##rd these seller..

QUOTE(3ping @ Apr 28 2016, 12:48 PM)
Well, just want to share some of my personal experience when surveying for car tint.

1. Don't bother so much wheater your car would remain 'cool' after parking long hours under the sun.
Because your car is an 'closed room' which has the tendency to trap heat. Unless your car tint can block 100% of the light (which is also the heat).

2. TSER is a better prediction of heat rejection/reflection.
Though I found out, when test using heat reading meter, different brand with same TSER doesn't perform the same. In fact, the difference is huge.
So don't believe the brochure/ website info blindly, even it's an official website. Go test it out on your own at respective authorised dealers.

3. To get cheaper price, you MUST shop on your own.
Meaning you need to call/ text/ visit Facebook page/ WALK-IN to negotiate for best price with authorised dealers on your own.
And please insist that no one refer you there. So they save up some referral fee, you save up your own money.

This is my real experience when I wanted to tint my new Almera Klang Valley. I'm referring to one same brand and exactly the same product series.
All prices are quoted from authorised dealers listed on official website.
a) Car sales person bring me to the tinting shop next to him. Tell the car tint person in charge to give me RM500 discount. So the last price was RM3300.
b) I check with one forum friend. He did his car RM2850, but he is not in Klang Valley.
c) One person refer me to another branch, RM2800.
d) I call up on my own, RM2600 in Klang Valley. And that branch happens to be the nearest branch to my house.

4. If you are going for genuine product, please make sure the product name offered to you is listed on official website.
I came accross an authorised dealer offering me a product which cannot be found on official website. And they eventually admit that that's other brand product.
Just beware la.

That's all my sharing.
