looking for tint film to diy on room's window panels (estimated 40sqft), whats the cost effective option to block uv and heat per sqft and where can i buy and install myself?

if it works well i might do a review and install same film on car later on.

If you wan DIY, perhaps can get it around Pudu or Pandan Indah ~

hi

need advice on this picture

user posted image

what is the diff between single/double pane and tinted/clear?
*
Where did you get this reading? This analysis more applicable to commercial/residential windows.
Most of the car windows fall on 1st category.

I'm thinking of tinting my "old" car but won't go for very expensive tints.

I'm considering LLumar Silver, would appreciate if everyone can share your reviews.

1. How is the quality in short & long term?
2. How does it reflect on window? Is it dark or easy to see-thru?
3. Is it JPJ compliant if I apply LLUmar silver for all windows?

Below is LLmuar silver info:

VLT 57%
TSER 41%
IRR 90%
UVR 99%
*
1. How is the quality in short & long term?
The quality is for short term only
2. How does it reflect on window? Is it dark or easy to see-thru?
It will not so dark, but still able to see-thru
3. Is it JPJ compliant if I apply LLUmar silver for all windows?
Based on the specification, it only comply if the film is install at side and rear.

is vcool any good ?

My car dealer tell me go buy vcool with solar and anti break
*
VKool + Solar Gard 4Mil
This combination only give you average performance.
If you have budget, upgrade it to full VKool Safety film.

In fact, I'm interested in blocking views from outside looking into the car.

1. Is there any tint you'd recommend but comply with JPJ requirement?
2. Is dark tint better than silver tint based on my requirement to block the view from outside?
3. Do you have any brand you'd recommend?
4. And my car is considered not a new car, will there be any difficulties in tinting?!
*
1. Is there any tint you'd recommend but comply with JPJ requirement?
- This is very hard, the JPJ rules is >70% VLT for FWS, >50% all side and BWS

2. Is dark tint better than silver tint based on my requirement to block the view from outside?
- No, reflective tint with VLT 50% might be able to achieve your requirement but honestly ppl still can see you thru
but at least you can create some mirror effect on certain angle. If you want those totally block ppl view from outside, you need at least
20-30% VLT film with high reflectance but that does not comply with regulations

3. Do you have any brand you'd recommend?
- You can try out VKool + Solar Gard Safety Series

4. And my car is considered not a new car, will there be any difficulties in tinting?!
- This not an issue as we will remove and clean your windows before put up brand new tint.

I have my car tinted with huperoptic, supposely i requested c50 (4mil) for side but ends up they give me c40+ ??? 6mm transparent film on top of it for security.

when i ask what film they use fpr the transparent film, they can't answer pula.. hmm
is it common practice to put a security film on a solar flim??
*
Ummm sounds fishy here.

There are 2 consequences I think

1. They try to cheat you !
2. Perhaps the Ceramic 50 4Mil is out of stock, thats why they put 2 layer.

Another question, did they give product warranty and summon warranty?

I have the warranty with me, but it's incomplete as it didn't state what is the product used for the side and rear tint.
That's why i call them up for clarification.
anyway, all huperoptic should come with a summon warranty too (the physical document)?
*
There is no summon warranty, is verbally promise because JPJ never approved any tint

Not recommended, it will cause blur vision.
Remember the glass is laminated.

That sounds good, but how to identify reflective film?

How long it takes to clean the oily windows? I was been told that the process could take more than 10 hours as certain cleaning product will be applied and allow it to dry.
*
Follow the simple step to identify reflective film.

1. It always dark, silver or stainless steel color.
2. Take a look at the film, if you can see your face. Congratulation you have found it !

When you send it to tinting, they will do it for you ah ~~

I have seen a video where two brands of tinting were compared whereby the demostrator put sticky tape on the two samples and when he peeled them off one the color came off and the other the color stayed. Just can't remember the brands involved. Anyone can help?
*
Its not about brand. The purpose of the video is to highlight the consumer about the dye film.

Have been using Huper Optik for past few months and sadly, I'm not really impressed with its heat rejection especially the front (Sech60) and the sides (C50-4mil). Somehow, my other car's Wingard Royale performs better especially during scorching day.
*
Do you mind to tell us what car using Huper vs car that using Winguard?

Huper on Prius C and Wingard on Vios.
*
Based on spec from both product, Huper Sech 60 performance is on par with Winguard Royale
but the Ceramic 50 4mil heat performance is lower than it. I guess that why you feel the heat.

Any reliable tint brand to recommend? Just came back from JPJ and my entire Pro Gard tint had to be destroyed due to noncompliance with JPJ even thou stated 50% VLT on side windows.

Original front and rear windows already 76% VLT without tint and side 70% VLT without tint - tested with JPJ VLT device.
*
What model is that? The original glass already so dark... In my opinion, if you want to pass the JPJ test next time.. Your front film VLT have to be 85% and side 70%

Perodua Alza.

These are the device that JPJ used to measure VLT.
user posted image

Another thing I notice that the device sometime are not accurate. My rear windscreen are without tinted and they checked and told me that my VLT is only 33%. I confronted them directly and the just brush off with maybe there's dust on the windscreen.

After that another guy bring in another device, it says 76% VLT.

I am planning to re tint my car, but definitely I won't go for Pro Gard brand anymore. My criteria is simple, I don't need to be dark. JPJ compliance, best shatter protection for 4 doors and small rear windows for Alza. Maximum UV protection for front and back windscreen. The workmanship must be good. Any recommendation?

I am tired of handling this issue with JPJ, when things happened, the tint shop will just brush it off.

Your case is common. This good case studies too.
