QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 30 2014, 10:29 AM)
It's all to do with viscosity of oil. Viscosity is a name given to the oils tendency to flow , and indicated by numbers. Higher the number, thinner the oil. Thin oil flows freely, if too freely will lose lube protection value. Thick oil does not flow freely, but if it does not get into minute clearances, lube protection is also lost. Thus the oil has to be thin enough to flow quickly into very tiny clearances and at the same time thick enough to provide adequate lube protection.

A chemical called polymer is added to oil to provide protection for both thin and thick situations. Polymer allows the oil to flow freely when cold and prevents the oil from thinning out when hot.

The manufacturer decides which oil grade provide the best protection for the engine. Recommended for our engine is 5W-30. What it means is that when cold the viscosity is at 5 and when heated the viscosity is at 30. We are not so concerned about the 5 cos it caters for cold climates. At our climatic condition we are concerned with the second number. Beyond 30 the oil starts to get thin and may not provide adequate lube protection.

Noted the recommended lubricant for NA is semi-synthetic 10W-40 or synthetic 5W-40 as per maintenance book. Noted the SC (Sg besi and puchong) is using syntium 1000 15W-50. Is that okay? Other NA owners, you guys using the similar grade?

I saw this Total engine oil chart for Peugeot cars from www.servicing.peugeot.com.au

I guess the SC is using Syntium 1000 (15W-50) instead of Syntium 3000 (5W-40) for NA is due the cost of the engine oil is cheaper. Next service, I will check with them on the type of oil that should be used.

QUOTE(roxx @ Apr 9 2014, 10:07 PM)
Done 40k service at glenmarie today..

Total damage RM570.50

Normal service including changing of pollen filter..

Then they said my brake pad almost finish left about 40% and they quoted me RM616.25 per pair.. I was like huh..??

Can I know:

1. How much it cost outside for brake pad?

2. Where can we get it outside?

Hope any sifus can clarify on this.. Thanks smile.gif

Walao, almost half of my damage by Puchong SC. Next time I need to bring along the maintenance sch when send the car to service. Can we insist not to change those items which are not due yet? I remembered the SA did show me a list of items to change for 40k.

This is due to some SC brought forward the cost of 50k and 60k to 40k service, bring down the cost of 60k. Hence ur 40k is cost higher than others. But u enjoy lower cost at the next service.
The only worry I have is, how they know what we had done on previous service? Would they duplicatr the service? Or they have the record in Peugeot system?
*
I will bring along the bills from the past service. Just in case they don't have the record.

Hi all. My car unable to start due to battery out now. I at customer site here, Terengganu. I already called to peugeot Careline, unlucky night already. How to lock all the door? Can any assist me please ?
*
Sorry to hear that bro. Hope you managed to lock all the doors.

Else, for the rear doors, use the child lock. There is a black cap located on the edge of the rear door. Use the car key to remove the black cap. Insert the key to move the latch (without turning) towards the inside of the door. Lastly, remove the key and refit the black cap. Now close the rear door and check if you can open it from outside. To open the rear doors, you need to unlock it from inside.

For front door, as usual, use the lock to lock and unlock.

Firstly, I use your method for rear door and then use car key to lock front door., but why one of the rear door still can open?
*
I'm not sure about that cos I never tried the child lock before. You may want to get the SC to check it out if your child lock is functioning properly.

Hi all.

I jump start my car this morning then I mange to drive from kijal genting resort, kemaman to service center Kuantan..this is new sc I think. They change new battery called 'delkor'..
This is old battery called Yokohama. Manufactory date 13/12/2012. I bought this car on September 2013..
[attachmentid=3926407]

Service advisor told me that all Peugeot car have battery issue, not only 408..
*
Yes… I guess most if not all, had battery problem with this Yokohama. I managed to claim new battery to Delkor at 19,000km.

Meaning we need to show them our privilage card? Why they never ask about it? Done services all this while but never get 10% discount on labour..

Get them to enter the privileged card number into the client database. It will be printed on the bill.

Got to ask this, my car engine won’t start at first crank. Try the second crank and the engine starts. Is there anything that I should be worried about?
