my indoor princess Meguiar's ultimate liquid wax + sonax BSD is still holding up quite decently since prior CNY late January/early February rofl.

Will be finding time for re-application soon as the gloss/shine isn't as striking as it was although water still beads/sheets strongly laugh.gif

as g88 commented, surface preparation is critical prior to LSP (eg: wax, sealant or coating)
that could be proper wash, claying to remove most/all surface contaminants, polishing to have less defect/better gloss or shine so on so forth.
*
blink.gif blink.gif feb till now is like... almost half year, and the ULW still holding up good??? or is it the BSD that you keep applying (weekly??) i wonder is it the ULW that's protecting or the BSD hmm.gif hmm.gif

anyways yes, thorough wash > clay > (polish if you want to properly prep/correct defects) > IPA wipe downs if you're OCD enough, then LSP (can be wax or sealants of your choice)

Today I went to Daiso and found this pretty decent microfiber cloth. Couldn't find the gsm information of the cloth, but my guess would be around 300+ gsm.

[attachmentid=3777065]

Just bought it and haven't tried out. Hopefully it won't leave any lint strands and discoloration  biggrin.gif

Anyone uses the Daiso microfiber cloth before?

One of my all time favourite tire dressing. For RM58, if you apply every week (which you won't really need to cuz it'll last longer than that - provided you apply in on CLEAN rubber), for the average OEM tire wall size, you would finish that bottle in....errr....maybe 4 ~ 5 years time.... tongue.gif  Expensive if you consider the initial investment but, in the long run, the cheapest tire shine around (even when it is a little bit overpriced locally if compared to how much it's selling in the US).

Use a 'sponge'. When you finished, store it in a plastic bag (something like those thick 'bungkus air' plastic). When you need to use it again, just hold the sponge from the outside and turn the plastic inside-out so that the plastic would now become a 'glove'. Whatever left on the sponge can still be use and you'd only need to add a little bit only. And best thing is - NO MORE OILY HANDS.... rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif
*
notworthy.gif this is super nice tips..! normally we would've clean the sponge, wasted all the product still soaked inside the sponge. Btw does the endurance gel comes with its dedicated sponge?? if not, then going to need to buy a wax applicator pad to use dedicated as the tire gel applicator.. (i mean when i finally buy endurance..)

but, i think this method only suitable for tyre gel product? wax or polish will all dry up i think?

I know the feeling. I remember I finished my first Megs Quick Detailer within one month. That was why I decided to go for the gallon once I can afford one.... icon_rolleyes.gif  Maybe you can share with a few guys and buy one gallon of Megs Last Touch. Diluted at 1:1 (1 part of LT to 1 part of water) you'd get 2 gallons (that would be 3.78L x 2 = 7.56L or 7560ml) of quick detailer at the price of...errrmm...I think it's around RM150/gallon.
*
LT need dilution one ah? will keep in mind (for when IF i really buy it). Also if for D156 spray wax, need dilution as well?

Meg Ultimate Quik Detailer
RM 70 / 650ml (RM70 discount 20% = RM56)

Last Touch
RM150 / 7560 ml = 11.5 bottle UQD = worth 11.5 * RM56 = RM664 worth of UQD! (after 20% discount somemore) drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif its like 77% discount!

EDIT: wrong info above, D155 is not equal UQD, should be equal QD (redbottle)

This is the one I'm talking about:

user posted image

It's actually kinda small...maybe around 2" or 2 1/2" in diameter. But I find the size is just nice for my low profile tyres (217/45/17).

scoutfai, you're right. Most of the Kiwi sponges are already loaded with their shine/polish/wax, but the one above isn't. Actually, if you bought one of those, why don't you try it on. It actually gives quite a nice mat/satin sheen to the rubber...kind of the 'new rubber' look. Very nice looking if if you ask me, especially since I'm the kinda guy who aren't really fond of those shiny/wet looking finish. Something like Dodo Juice Tyromania look.
*
Daiso has the exact same thing!! (not kiwi brand la) but upon my first polish on my shoe, the sponge fall off from the plastic holder already haha.

Last Touch is Megs Quick Detailer equivalent - the reddish bottle, not Ultimate Quick Detailer - the black bottle.

Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer equivalent would be M135 - Mirror Glaze Synthetic Spray Detailer

D156 is Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax, equivalent to Ultimate Quick Wax

I seldom see much of Megs Quick Detailer around anymore. Not sure whether it's still around or not. But if I'm not mistaken they're around RM45 or so for a 16oz bottle.
*
ooh ok ok ic thanks for enlightening notworthy.gif
so what's the different between this D155 & M135?? I think Mirror Glaze line is more pro and also more expensive eh?
a quick search on google, most says that D155/QD works better as clay lube than M135/UQD. For for quick detailing purpose, M135/UQD still better, give better gloss, etc, but not good as clay lube. Also read some say when use as clay lube, D155 dilution 1:1. If use as QD, no dilution. but i suppose i can use 1:1 dilution as QD purpose also? hmm.gif want to save that bit bucks lol

rework my calculation a bit:
Meg Quik Detailer (red bottle one)
RM 45 / 473ml (RM45 discount 20% = RM36)

Last Touch
RM150 / 7560 ml = 16 bottle QD = worth 16 * RM36 = RM576 worth of QD! (after 20% discount somemore) drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif its like 76% discount/ or RM 8.63 / bottle of QD

Is thinking to get D155 & D156 rolleyes.gif for me i think its like the maintenance twin?? same as UCompound & UPolish normally referred as twin.

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Aug 6 2014, 09:43 AM)
Normal super glue would harden the foam, making it brittle and destroying it. Gorilla glue would soak into and fused with the foam, it bond with the foam structure, and doesn't cure as hard and brittle as super glue.

For QD job, I tend to also dilute D155 at 1:1 and spray it more liberally than 'normal'...much like using a 'no rinse' or 'waterless' wash. I know the instructions says to use it neat but it's just my personal preference and it worked for me. Maybe I just didn't get the technique/method right but most of the time I would get *very* light marring.

You might be onto something there....D155 & D156 being a 'maintenance twin'. But just be careful with the QD though. For me, it worked quite well as a clay lube but I just couldn't make it work as 'light cleaner' of dust other right after a good wash.
*
why the master here knows so much about a super glue as well... sweat.gif lols

Anyway, if i buy D155, my original main purpose would be as a kind of very light duty cleaner worr. meaning like a QD wipe after washing car, or QD wipe before wax (if i do wax), or QD wipe after wax. Or sometimes OCD want to wipe off those very fine dust 2-3 days after a car wash. And of course as clay lube as well (currently use shampoo mix) I suppose QD mist & wipes will not damage the wax layer right? (ULW here).

if i get D156 as well, will plan to spray it once a month. but D156 also seems more expensive than D155. and not sure if can be used with 1:1 dilution as well haha.

QUOTE(kalvinkhoo @ Aug 6 2014, 09:47 AM)
We should join venture since is worth that much for a QD!! :] drool.gif  drool.gif
*
for D155, i plan to get one for myself only rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif can use for like.. many yearssss
for D156, maybe need share share a bit haha.

D156 is meant to be used on a clean surface - no dust / dirt - and will leave a hydrophobic layer of protection, while D155 is meant to clean light dust / dirt. They serve different purposes and shouldn't be compared?
*
not comparing the 2. i'm just considering want to take D155 together with D156 or not. D155 spray wipe, then after that D156 spray wipe... both are consider optional steps if i wash with wash&wax weekly i think, and rewax like... 3-4 months once?? just that D155 & D156 combo is very convenient and fast to make the car looks instant shiny.

Convenient and fast aside, need to consider the price for those stuff too.. so.. get D155 first maybe.

And here's my suggestion. If you were to start with one product, I would suggest you get the D156 first. Very rarely that you would need to do a round of QD after a good wash unless there's something wrong with your washing. And also a QD won't be able to do much on the appearance side. D156 would be more suited and meaningful to use after a wash, to top up the protection and amp up the gloss. To tell you the truth, before I have the glass coat on my ride(s), I use to top up with one form of spray wax or another *almost* after every wash sweat.gif
*
yes i've been thinking the same thing as well... after first proper claying & waxing, if weekly wash the car nice nice, i wouldn't need claying (and therefore needing QD/D155) in a longg time. probably need more UQW/D156 after 2-3 washes to top up shine & wax a bit. hmm.... blush.gif blush.gif

btw, besides the 3 bottle gallon Megs in your picture, noticed your lower rack is FULL of the same bottles.. shocking.gif

QUOTE(LazyJin @ Aug 7 2014, 11:51 AM)
+1 on all counts. I use Megs D156 on my 2 daily drivers almost weekly, finished a gallon in about a year lol. But some of that was down to poor technique of course (read : Applying UQW ). An equivalent to D156 would be Duragloss #951.
*
wohh can last a year. good good thumbup.gif

for me, I use it for usual washes. It doesnt foam / leave marks when it dries by itself. Also leaves a good sheeting effect. I use 3 caps for each wash and it lasted me 1 year plus, avg 2 wash per month, sometimes less/more.

really hope i can find it somewhere. for now i use Duragloss wash and wax.
*
so.. the Petronas's is better than Duragloss's? On the Petronas's Wash & Wax's pic as shown by you, it reads "Self Drying". What exactly does that means? meaning no need to rinse with water after wash?

I only saw petronas's spray wax before lols

while washing my car today, got a few questions wanna ask you all. Took a photo of the water beading when first rinsing the car (not yet wash). is it considered good water beading?? this was after 4 weeks of apply ULW. in between weekly got car wash with UWW, and got once apply UQW after wash 2 weeks ago. the other photo is after washing today, after rinsing, before drying.
Before WashAttached Image

After Wash, before dryingAttached Image

Also, wanna show this paint defect on my car. this is the one i suspect i accidentally dropped a drop of rain repellent on the paint and unattended. Phobia ever since. Last week finally break the phobia and bought PG DuraZ & PG Washer Fluid combo pack. the combo pack is cheaper than a single bottle of RainX. I know RainX is the defactor brand to go, but just wanna give PG a try. First clayed the wind screen (and rear, side windows), then polish with a cheapo waxco Glass Polish compound (not sure if it's any good/effect lols, but i think at least it can clean). Then apply DuraZ. At the back label of DuraZ, it reads 'apply every 6000km or 8 weeks for optimum results'. 8 weeks, wow rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Today the water still beading pretty good, no sign of wear-off yet.
Attached Image

also, had took some time to take pictures of other easily spotted paint defects on my car.. so far i've keep ignoring them first, haha.

Should be D115 rinse free express wash and wax, aka equivalent to Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere?

And, D156 xpress synthetic spray wax aka equivalent Ultimate Quik Wax?
