just use it... seriously... i havent touch cwm since i went with TWRP... dont have any problem at all...
*
hmmm... coz mine AP unit. worry it might be a problem. anyway, later might also try to change modem/baseband/CSC (?!) since i'm having some serious issues with u mobile at my area -- though i'm 99.9% certain its u mobile issue.

update 1:
just gonna tag a few ppl... coz they know my phone's still virgin.
waveweaver joytest

update 2:
ah, forgot i need usb debugging enabled. seems its not explicitly mentioned anywhere... and on 4.3, developer option is 'hidden'. had to tap something like 7-8 times on BUILD NUMBER (settings -- more -- about device)to enable it

ouch, did a bit of search. it seems like if you have 4.3 from OTA/ Kies, chances are, you can't downgrade to earlier version... this is due to KNOX.

i was planning to keep a copy of the earlier stock ROM for later use... coz really dun like 4.3. I still like the pop up browser on 4.1.2...

now have top go read up if i can actually flash DN3 on my note since KNOX seems to be a pain.

i just realised i have Opera Mini browser on my Note 2.

wanna uninstall it and Play detects it as not installed. from Application manager, it seems i can only turn off at browser, not uninstall. this makes me wonder... is Opera Mini part of the stock ROM?

dang... :S

Guys, wanna ask. My note 2, screen doesnt go off by itself. This happens when i lock the screen, and when unlock, it doesnt show the lockscreen. Instead, upon unlocking, it immediately bringa me back the last viewed page.

Anyone got this issue? Happens aftee the update
*
this has happened to me... i noticed the apps that appears when i unlock as an apps with permission to "prevent phone from sleeping/ screen turning off". i think that could be why your phone screen is not going off.

should this be happening -- logically, no.

i'm on stock rom. 4.3. not rooted yet.

Just bought this phone for my wife. Now thinking whether to root it or just official update.
Any advise?
Never used Samsung before. But I believe if I root it, can unroot it easily for warranty claim just in case, right?
*
any reason for rooting? and the way you put it... it seems like you're into custom roms (mention of "official update")?

unlike iphones, rooting not required on android to install third party apps. you just need to enable the function (under SECURITY).

i've used my note for more than a year now without the need to root. unless you (your wife, actually) need something that is currently not on the phone (like Note 3 features), otherwise, no need to root.

QUOTE(oneavaya @ Jan 8 2014, 11:45 PM)
Hi all,

Need help here.  icon_question.gif  Recently got my new Note 2 and happy exploring.

However, I am now curious about creating appointments (not event/task) in S Planner. As shown below (the yellow label)

[attachmentid=3807055]

I managed to do it once (but now forgot), then unable to delete the entry. So I did force close and the appointment entry is gone.

Now I have tried many ways to recreate it but to no avail.
*
to create appointment, just click the + button at the top (on the widget). or if you use the s planner apps, there's also a + and then you choose whether its an EVENT, TASK or MEMO. but it is a good idea to check the calendars you have (especially if you have a few Google accounts on the phone). That way, you know which color is for what. you can actually choose which calendar account to use when creating new item.

just start S PLANNER apps --> MENU (left button) --> CALENDARS. You'll see a list of calendars here (and the colours).

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jan 9 2014, 02:26 AM)
Forget about S Planner

Google Calendar + Google Keep is the way forward.

Plus you can keep your calendars synced between your devices and computers.
*
i still prefer S PLANNER. main reason being that the widget gives me a full month view. I dun have that with Google Calendar. It gives me a quick overview and when i need to zoom in, click on that day.

Also... I recall previously, i could use the pen to hover over the item for preview. but it does not seem to work anymore.

QUOTE(edan1979 @ Jan 9 2014, 07:08 AM)
to whoever still using stock 4.3 there are Snote update on samsung apps. The new snote.
*
thanks for sharing... ya, just updated.

now, same thing like note 1 (if i recall correctly)... now i've got 2 S NOTE apps on my phone. they are both different apps (different look, etc but the new one imported my files over)... how silly is that... *sigh*

Hi guys!! Nice to be here again and now need your help:)

I upgraded to 4.3 way back dec 2013 and I just keep seeing Google Music Player is always running behind the scene even though im not using it..

Is this a 4.3 bug?
Thanks in advance!
*
what do you mean running behind the scenes? as in... appearing at the notification bar on top?

i am able to exit and remove the player each time i finish with it. if i'm not mistaken, it could have been triggered when you plug in your headset.

HI, thanks for response. However, I could only see "Quick add", "add event" and "add task" after clicking the "+" sign. I could not add appointments which will then create the yellow label on the date itself. (like photo shown above)

Any ideas?  rclxub.gif
*
are you sure its 'APPOINTMENT'? could it be that its an EVENT... and customised with background/ icon?

update 1:
btw, wanna confirm... you are using note 2, right? and do you know your Android version? coz it looks like your calendar seems to be the old one... compared to what i have. i'm running stock rom, 4.3.

update 2:
i just played around with it. the yellow colour square means its a MEMO.

Just recently gotten myself a Note II. Is there any use to sign in to Samsung Apps? Is there any exclusive apps that's only available there or just stick with Google Play Store will do?
*
QUOTE(tiensong @ Jan 9 2014, 12:19 PM)
hehe...I also want to know the answer too...
*
some apps are given free. i recall back then, there were a few games.

also, like pointed out earlier, there's a new version of S Note as well.

besides that, at one time, they gave out free vouchers to purchase books. and i think its single sign-on... you can use Samsung Dive, backup for address book, etc to Samsung server <-- i suspect this is to prep users when they launch Tizen OS later on

on the note about backing up address book, there's also a function to backup sms but i have never gotten it to work. anyone? biggrin.gif

Personally I got rid of non-essential Sammy stuff the moment I rooted my N2. Sure, I did keep a few things but most of them were really just bloatware to me.

YMMV though, but I chucked Sammy Apps out with the rest of the other stuff including the "learning" hub crap and Dive too. Would have dumped everything if not for the fact that some of it was essential to to the TW framework, and would cause mass panic FCs if removed.

Anyway, I just got my first tempered glass scratch, a tiny thing about 1/4 inches long. I wonder how it happened but at least it wasn't my screen lol.
*
lolz... ya, but for me... can just turn them off... most of them anyway. they do take up space, but well, space is not a major issue since we have: microSD, USB OTG, etc... smile.gif

but ya, if rooted, then can consider throwing the junk away.

but some apps are free on Samsung Apps and not free on Google Play. so, depends la...

and ya, some apps are part of TW framework... like Paper Artist. I had disabled it... Then noticed I could not share via Gallery. Google and found out that was the culprit.

I just upgraded to 4.3 and found that the font size for text messaging is big! shocking.gif  Did anyone else find the font size too large for comfort? I reduced the size with the volume control to the smallest possible setting but it's still too big. The system font size is set to Tiny and it's just nice. Only the text messaging is too big. Anyone has a way to reduce it?

Thanks!  smile.gif
*
you still find it big with TINY + volume down? i think OK la... smile.gif

just a matter of getting used to it. anyway, these days, hardly use SMS... so its not an issue for me.

i think i can understand this wifi bug thing now... with 4.3, i noticed my wifi connection gets 'disabled' if the wifi connection is bad, even though i have disabled this in the wifi settings.

what happens is like those hotel wifi where u get a login page, after a while, i get disconnected. i see some message about wifi being disconnected and i'm on 3g connection again. what a pain...

i've also made sure the wifi setting is on even when phone screen is off/ sleep.

haiz... is this the wifi bug that dr ketan patched up?

l managed to create the yellow label memo but could not view or delete it. That's why I clear data/cache. Now l cannot create it anymore.

How to open from widget? l usually open from apps.
*
from widget = click + (see your screenshot)

from apps = go to apps --> S PLANNER --> +

ya, when i was testing this morning, i also could not figure out at first how to delete it. then i created another memo. when you have two memo on the same day, you can press it and you get option to delete.

ya, a bit silly... again, its like the S NOTE update (that was shared this morning). we end up with two S NOTE apps.

Smartphone not like laptop....won't cut off electric when phone fully charged...so, it is advised to switch off electric after 100% charged....(correct me if I am wrong)
*
i leave my phone charging overnight... it usually gets to 100% by 2 hours. have been doing that for years and i dun see a problem.

and from what i understand, ori chargers and battery can actually trickle charge/ stop charge when full.

*
seriously... not first time i hear ppl say they lost contacts... on dumbphones, i can understand la... some dumbphones can't sync (though my old S series siemens could many years back)...

but on smartphones... we can sync with Google/ Gmail. or if paranoid about Google, there's also Samsung (not the best, but its still a choice).
