here's something to think about when it comes to custom roms, especially those with Note 3 features.

in a way, one can say these ROMS are infringing on copyright by providing these features. some of these features may actually be copyrighted/ patented (be thankful we're not talking about fruit company that practically patent anything and everything).

if they are not 'featured' in any official stock Note 2 ROMS, then by adding these into the ROMS... you get what i mean, right?

i mean... when we expand this further, we'll end up with people putting stuff like Asphalt, Final Fantasy, etc into their ROM -- maybe just because they like it.

no doubt these Note 3 features are 'made by Samsung', but technically, unless they said its OK (or by bundling it with Note 2), otherwise, it can be considered piracy, no?

just wanna check... coz i noticed my contact birthdays dun appear on my s calendar anymore.

what i did... added birthday into contacts. then let it sync. when i check on gmail (website), i can see the birthday appears on the contact list.

but check with s-calendar, birthday does not appear. seems to happen only for newly added birthdays. the earlier contacts with birthdays, their birthday is showing on my s-calendar.

any settings that i can check? i have checked calendar setting and allowed sync contact birthdays.

ya, i understand your point and i can see both sides as well...

but in one way (just an example), some DELL laptops comes with Windows 7 OS, MS Office and some other stuffs. Some comes with just Windows 8. Does not really mean that we can grab the MS Office and say since its from Dell/ MS (ya, maybe I guess I should have used a MS hardware instead as a better example), we can use it.

anyway, back to the custom roms for our Note 2 that has Note 3 features.

* it would seem from my 'quick glance' that there are quite a few 'complete' ROMs -- meaning they are 'stable' and actually have lots (if not all) the s-pen functions

* so far, i'm actually keen on DN3. i understand latest version is v3.1?!? i'm actually looking for some improvement in performance + s-pen functions (plus s calendar, etc). any other suggestions? or is there a summary on the internet where these ROMS are compared? most games would work, right?

just curious...

anyone here uses wireless charging? which brand (the charging pad) and how much? i'm thinking of getting one for myself -- as a present.

wow... looking at this... looks like the IPMart deal is kinda 'cheap'. rm169 for charger pad + coil.

i was thinking more like explosion -- something like what we face when buying 3rd party cheap china-made chargers.

but i actually did some reading up just now and it seems most wireless charger din do trickle charging. i was hoping for this. anyway, i might just hold off on wireless charging first... wait another year or so la.

ouch, that one also i overlooked... i've got my casemate which is quite thick at the back. looks like confirmed that i can shelve this plan...

rm1399. way cheaper than note 3... and also cheaper than note 2... heh heh...

i have my eyes (and wallet) set on Asus Transformer T100 instead. Windows 8.1. keyboard dock. MS Office Home & Student. extra 500GB harddisk. rm1399.

played with one demo unit i saw at Digital Mall. actually, quite impressive. the pen works like note... can hover. i guess wacom technology...

it was quite smooth scrolling from screen to screen. but din really test further like play games, etc...

but even though its got 2 front speakers, they were kinda horrible. could hardly hear a thing.

ya, agreed on GoF being RPG.

and yes, no mention of Square Enix games. and Zenonia & Chaos Ring is just 'honaorable mention'? not to mention, i think lots of Kempco games are good RPGs.

last time, i heard Battleheart had very lousy response/ update from Developer. not sure if that has changed.

the Legend series... having tried Pocket, Star and also Dark, i felt they were more like Hack & Slash. oh well, its all a matter of opinion.

i got my San Disk 64GB Class 10 from ipmart. it was a good deal abt 2 months back. i know some will think its overkill, but considering that you can do a lot with Note 2 (watch movies, play games, record fullHD video), it's something worth considering. plus, they come with adaptor that lets you plug into other devices, including laptop. but ya, hassle taking it in/ out of the phone. but at least if your phone breaks, you can still use it for other things. digital camera too.

just curious... SDS is not entitled to warranty claim? or was the note 2 already no longer under warranty?

i'm trying out Cover (beta) apps... it's a 'smart lock screen' apps.

just installed today and it's supposed to learn my habits over the next few days. let's see how it goes. but so far, kinda like it.

it's supposed to be only available for US/ UK but i've always had problems with my Google Play settings so, I get US contents.

and just wondering... anyone uses any password manager apps? i've been considering this -- to use or not to use. and there are quite a few out there... some of which is FOC. nice... but good idea to use it?

a fren's note2 just died. said was making a call when it just died. thought it was power so plug into wall... nothing.

looks like SDS. wah, thinking about this... its kinda scary.

for car manufacturers, if there's a defective chip, brake, etc... they do a recall and replace. no questions asked regardless or warranty period coz clearly defective.

in the case of phones... seems makan sendiri... :S

mine is AP set and just got my update yesterday...

having tried it for about a day, I noticed my favorite pop up browser no longer there. quick Google showed some other functions/ features no longer there. I recall when note 2 was launched, they "marketed" the pop up browser... so annoyed it's no longer there. I'll give this update a week or two just to be fair... then probably have to start looking at custom roms.

I do like the pop up browser, pop up video, and a few other stuffs... sigh

did a quick search and it seems some of the APK i found are already modded (for S3) or the fullscreen dun work. do you have a link to ori/ clean apk from note 2 and meant for note 2?

some even said can't resize which is weird since i know we can resize by holding and dragging the edge of the pop-up browser...

also... just wondering... DN3 rom got this? this seems to be the best-suited custom rom for me, based on what i read.

update 2: now i know what they meant by not resizeable... seems that apk dun allow resize. weird. coz on my old OS, i could resize the pop up browser.

ouch, i was leaning towards TWRP... heh heh...

anyway, need to just clarify again... no concerns whatever for KNOX as long as I;ve not somehow touched (enabled/ activated) it, right? currently only stock 4.3 and it it is kinda sucky.
