i haven apply, jz considering this as it involves a large sum of money.

er.. the 'help' i mean... usually, those who going there will have the college that have twinning program to assist them whether they r in malaysia and when they reach UK, right? the help i mean was the service provided by college/uni to do the procedure, visa, application and how to settle down or get used at the new enviroment at there
*
About settling down, don't worry. Most universities provide some pretty good welcome week where you get loads and loads of information about living in that area.

i'm not sure if the twinning programmes actually help u with all the itsy-bitsy part, but so u know, most msian students did not apply through twinning programmes. u just need to apply at the university, get ur fundings ready, do medical checkup, get in touch with british council in msia, sort the visa issue, buy tickets, and fly away!

really, it's THAT easy.

usually the university will sort the accommodation and everything else for u. all u need to do is get urself from the airport to ur registration office of the university. they'll get u sorted out.

they handled thousands of international students who are technically first time outside their own country, alone and far away from home. so dont worry about it!

yeah... as long u have ge the offer letter from the university and u have prepare ur funding, then the visa have to sendirian berhad.. settle yourself lo... have to go to british high com and apply ur student visa. when u got ur visa, make sure ur visa is enough for u to stay in uk including ur graduation ceremony.
usually university will have 1 or 2 week welcome week for international student. this welcome week, will tell u about living and studying in uk. also about the area of ur campus.

oh yesss.... do make sure that ur visa covers graduation day! dont be like me!

i actually finish my masters in sept 2004. since the university graduation is in july/august, my ACTUAL graduation is in sept 2005. so i missed my graduation!

but then again, when i came to the uk in 2003, i had a walk-in visa (the one that they stamp the visa in ur passport at the airport). late 2004 they applied the new ruling where u must apply a full visa before boarding flight to the UK. so it was kinda stupid anyway. i still missed my graduation!

huh... what a waste... miss your graduation. if i miss my graduation, i sure cry for all my life....
yeah.. now they stamp the visa when we apply the student visa but when arrive immigration (uk's airport), they will check the visa and put date on the visa. anyway buy the air-ticket, they don't check whether you have the student visa or not, weired when i bought my air-ticket. she didn't ask me about my visa. anyway i didn't bought student ticket, but my air-ticket open for 1 year.

i think it's depend on ur course duration. for example if ur course from nov 2006-nov 2007 then ur visa will be from nov 2006 until jan 2008.
then if ur course is 3 years, then u will get 3 years student visa. when u applying student visa, make sure u prepare all the document and ur proof of ur funding.. otherwise they will reject ur application and u hv to reapply. at that time, u have to pay another RM600 for reapply student visa... good luck for apply visa.. hehe... happy.gif

yeah: No offense, but you should start doing some of your own homework. Do NOT expect spoonfeeding. You will need that change of attitude if you wish to get into, and to survive the more decent UK universities. Try to search for the information, and if you are really lost, then come and ask.

That would be around end of September. And yes, asking Sheffield representative is a good place to start. They are current/ex-sheffield students

owh ask me! ask me!

LOL

most UK universities will try to avoid intakes other than september/october for their undergraduates. so regardless of whatever year u'll be joining in anywhere in the UK, it's almost always will be in september.

snow is the least of my problems. when it snows, or after it snows, there's be little wind. u see, wind is what carries the cold. sometimes the actual temperature is not that cold, but the wind is what brings the chill. i dont mind walking in the snow. heck it's fun. but walking in winter wind...

Snow is nothing compared to ice! Ice is what sends you ass over tits. Ice is what makes your car drift when you don't want it to. Ice... it's evil I tell ya!
