Hi again. I've noticed that my AW14 can get a little hot (uncomfortable) on the right palm rest location after a few hours of usage. I've checked the manual and I found that the primary HDD is under the right palm rest. The current HDD temp is about 41 celsius. My question: Will SSD help to reduce the temp? Tq~

yes, ssd runs cooler than hdd in general so it helps (due to its characteristics such as no moving parts, much less power draw). previously i had a weird experience with intel 520. it generated more heat than usual in an r4; solved with bios update. (i still don't know what caused the abnormal heat). for the rest of ssd brands (tested with samsung 830 and 840 pro, plextor m5pro xtreme, crucial m500), it's usual to have 33+ c but normally not more than 40c.

however please bear in mind that heat dissipation in laptops also depends on many other factors.

edit: correction - plextor drives have no sensor so i couldn't check their temperatures. however one of my laptops is running 2x plextor m5pro xtreme and a m5m msata ssd. no overheating issues.

yeah a cooling pad helps, too. i have a coolmaster u3 and x3. u3 is more flexible so i position all fans to the intakes lol! x3 is a huge fan blowing the whole bottom of laptop.

I second you on U3 for more flexible. Me also using U3 at the moment..you also can buy additional fans for that. To avoid power consumption i just plug in the usb fans to Roccat Apuri rclxm9.gif

It is good if you can share the temp details after stress test your laptop using benchmarking software (3DMark / 3DMark Vantage etc etc). Maybe somebody here familiar with that CPU temp activities. If the temp slightly heat, we always can re-paste it! thumbup.gif

Just got back my M14x (R2 now) from bro Oscar putochip123

https://www.facebook.com/pages/DellAlienwar...1751731?fref=ts

Awesome and friendly seller, who managed to upgrade my old and almost-dying M14x R1 (3 years old, super heavy use) to R2 in just one day at a price that's almost a quarter of the original price tag of a 14" Alienware- a STEAL! XD XD

I was originally expecting upgrades of the interior hardware, but bro Oscar basically changed the entire thing for me, except the base plate with my name on it LOL... dang awesome!
I'm glad I'll be able to use back my M14x ^___^ Although old and outdated, being able to get an Alienware is a dream come true for me, and I'm definitely not going to abandon my laptop that fast hehe

Again, thanks bro Oscar for the awesome service miahahaha
Highly recommended seller... I don't think anyone in the market would do this for customers (^___^)

agreed. this is exactly why i always recommend putochip123 to those who wanna get good deals. if you haven't engaged him before you have no idea what he can offer you. (just don't be a lowballer. it does you no good. to him, he has nothing to lose)

personally i have gotten some good stuff from him, with damn good price. seriously never get disappointed, every time smile.gif

Yealo, sometimes I think he is making a loss with each deal haha laugh.gif And many people doubted the genuineness of his notebooks (they are ori, of course) because of the low price haha
Not sure how he does his business haha~ laugh.gif

His service alone is already enough to keep me sticking to Dell/Alienware haha, even though there are plenty of interesting stuffs from other brands now tongue.gif

Well, I am feeling like a little boy now with my "new" M14x haha rclxm9.gif

ah.. all those nonsenses about genuineness, ap sets, etc. are cow dung assumptions and imaginations based on nothing. (i said cow instead of bull because cow doesn't have something hehe)
