QUOTE(horns @ Apr 18 2014, 11:07 PM) you must install intel rapid storage app in order to check it out. I always choose to clean install! No headache, no wasting time. Just get the Alienware Initial Driver Installation correctly! Can refer here for this --> Pre-drivers install orders for AWBy the way this is just my suggestion. Every person has a different view.

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 21 2014, 10:09 PM) yes, ssd runs cooler than hdd in general so it helps (due to its characteristics such as no moving parts, much less power draw). previously i had a weird experience with intel 520. it generated more heat than usual in an r4; solved with bios update. (i still don't know what caused the abnormal heat). for the rest of ssd brands (tested with samsung 830 and 840 pro, plextor m5pro xtreme, crucial m500), it's usual to have 33+ c but normally not more than 40c. however please bear in mind that heat dissipation in laptops also depends on many other factors. edit: correction - plextor drives have no sensor so i couldn't check their temperatures. however one of my laptops is running 2x plextor m5pro xtreme and a m5m msata ssd. no overheating issues. Laptop cooler also will slightly help your laptop to reduce the heat

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 22 2014, 06:34 PM) yeah a cooling pad helps, too. i have a coolmaster u3 and x3. u3 is more flexible so i position all fans to the intakes lol! x3 is a huge fan blowing the whole bottom of laptop. http://www.coolermaster.com/mobile/laptops...ing/notepal-u3/http://www.coolermaster.com/mobile/laptops...ing/notepal-x3/I second you on U3 for more flexible. Me also using U3 at the moment..you also can buy additional fans for that. To avoid power consumption i just plug in the usb fans to Roccat Apuri

QUOTE(faisal_smks03 @ Apr 22 2014, 11:03 PM) Are these temperatures normal? Just for normal browsing and music after a few hours. I ald put a notebook cooler [attachmentid=3942050] It is good if you can share the temp details after stress test your laptop using benchmarking software (3DMark / 3DMark Vantage etc etc). Maybe somebody here familiar with that CPU temp activities. If the temp slightly heat, we always can re-paste it!

QUOTE(dark_axl21 @ May 16 2014, 04:07 PM) So far, to hold the screws in, I had to used those white colored tape called "thread seal tape" where people tend to wrap it around pipes for leakage and so. And that advice came from one of the repairmen from a repair shop. Another shop told me that they could just glue it, which I find too risky and what if I had to remove it the next time right?. So I guess getting that part itself is quite impossible, unless changing the whole piece. Parts are just kinda hard to find down here at JB. Maybe there's a possibility in KL? Imho white tape cannot hold the screw properly. Stock screw came with spring to tighten and hold the bracket/backplate. Yes i heard about the glue/epoxy things. Don't try it yet. Probably can find it in KL (Lowyat/Imbi) but need to check with those bangladesh geeks at their store (faulty board parts)

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 12 2014, 10:10 PM) note: this is a lesson learned when you have all the stuff around you, but you don't actually test it yourself (taking everything for granted) the 330W adapter actually works very well with m17x r4, without any mod. the bios detects the adapter as 330W, and the battery charging is working fine. why use a higher-power adapter? it provides more juice to your system, especially when you overclock cpu/gpu, and put everything into full use (all hdd slots are full with ssd/hdd, including hdd caddy; ram slots are full with 4x8gb ram, etc.) I second you on that mate!

QUOTE(horns @ Dec 17 2014, 09:03 AM) wow thanks a bunch for the heads up. yes for m17x r4 it's just .inf mod. for aw17, that cannot even be called as 'working', like what those card sellers are advertising. m15x + gtx 980m ftw!

Just need to get the replacement mobo. Try ebay or ask dell malaysia quote you for it. Well..better check with dell whether they still can proceed with the warranty extension on your m15x. Last time they quoted me RM650 only for 1 year. The GRAND TOTAL cost for this Warranty Extension = MYR 650 Kindly provide me the details below if you would like to proceed the order This post has been edited by HackMyAlien: Dec 18 2014, 05:12 PM

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Dec 17 2014, 09:50 PM) M15x can be work, but need to disable the IDT Audio. The audio just conflict with NVidia driver. M15x, M17x R2, M17x R3 all have same problem. COz I tried to upgrade GTX 860M in M15x before. It couldn't work unless I disable the IDT Audio in the bios. Reported that 980m (plug and play) on m15x increase 3x times for performance and of course with extreme processor Imho m15x is legendary item This post has been edited by HackMyAlien: Dec 18 2014, 05:09 PM
