but I want usb 3.0 transfer speeds biggrin.gif It is weird because sometimes it works. Most of the times it doesn't I end up using the e sata port then.
*
i know. i want that speed too. the worst part is that it's kind of random. to me slower speed is still better than nothing productive to be done.

you're lucky to have r4. it's even more obvious for newer haswell machines smile.gif

It's annoyinggggggggggggggg. There should be a fix. I will try to find it in my free time. Dammit USB port.
*
hehe that's why intel classified its usb 3.0 bugs as nuisance (the last time i checked there were still many of them unfixed in the errata) biggrin.gif

i am not sure if your problem is related to intel chip, or just hardware or driver issues.

I am pretty sure it's Driver issue. I used to face this problem on Asus ROG laptop too.
*
ok. actually i have very less issues about usb 3.0 with my r4's and rog laptop. i'm not sure why also.

wo. at last?! look at this. is this for real? however, can a usb 3.0 do the job well? (i thought thunderbolt port is more promising :/)

yeah. limited 500 units only. however for gpu, i think it's better to wait for nvidia gtx 900 series. if the news is true, it will be worth waiting for biggrin.gif

*
it's just business biggrin.gif it's better to sell them off cheap than keeping them in warehouse. (need to pay rents; need to pay jaga lol!)

but settled down with desktop now laugh.gif plus 17" is a bit too big for me when it comes to laptops sweat.gif
*
desktops are more fun biggrin.gif yeah it's much better to grab something light when you're usually on the move.

--

it's better be clear: dfo units are cheaper because for some reasons or the other, they are considered as 'not perfect' by dell's standards. one thing to note is that although they're usually tagged as refurbished, there are new ones with something like minor cosmetic wears.

i have a m17x r4 dfo. when it was passed to me i could see that it was kind of dusty. (imagine how long it stayed in warehouse lol!) later i learned that it was a refurbished unit. (i am still glad because the seller was kind enough to tell the truth).

.. and it turned out to be a damn good machine. (stock 3840qm, gtx 680m, killer 1103 .n, 1x hdd. all i did was to add 2x 512gb sata ssd, 1x 256gb msata ssd, and swapped the 32gb stock ram with performance ones).

i abuse it a lot. (i do that to my machines. the guys who handled my cases know). however come to think of it, this r4 has never let me down since day one. not even once. (there was this one time i got pissed and hit the keyboard so hard the keys came out. when i calmed down i just put the keys back and moved on. they are still working fine haha!)

to me, although it was tagged as refurbished, it's a perfect machine. however, if you really MUST have spanking new stuff, then go to dell directly, or get them from reliable sellers, and pay the right price.

it's what inside that matters brows.gif
*
right, that, and good supports.

after sales support (with parts readiness) is important for good customer experience. (no matter how good you are in making stuff in large scale, sh!ts do happen) not many brands can fulfill that part of the product sales cycle, even if they are very well-known of producing high-quality goods.

.. and i really don't think the description, 'well-established', can be used to appropriately describe such companies, because their people are not even capable of managing their support services, the last frontier to make happy customers come back to them in future sales cycles.

what actually are these guys getting paid for?

I'm currently browsing through the internut for some ideas on watercooling solution for the X51

given the case design, there are hardly any factory sealed system that can fit. I've seen there are some modders who sacrificed the lighting panel in order to drill holes & make way for radiator. there are even who opted for externally mounted reservoir & radiator sweat.gif
*
given its compact form factor, it's better to put the radiator outside of the system.

aurora also cannot fit larger cooler without mods.

nitrogen cooling system? hehe

too crazy lah. for me water cooling is very good already smile.gif

QUOTE(rihuhs @ Sep 18 2014, 11:45 AM)
I'd prefer to keep it inside, to maintain the clean look.

I've seen a build which the builder replace the radiator with slim rectangular one as opposed to the normal square shape. should fit nicely on the rear vents of the case but the question is: where to get one? sweat.gif  sweat.gif
too extreme bro hahaha. plus, not practical

LOL fridge is cold & wet, so not really good with sensitive electronics

dry ice, maybe? hmm.gif
*
oh. it must be really packed inside.

I give my slot to horns. his rig need more kipas. haha
*
haha! the stock wc unit in aurora is good enough to cool down the cpu already biggrin.gif (and i bought a backup wc unit in case the reported problem occurs)

it's gonna be sweat.gif

or maybe I just invest on a low-profile high performance cooler with heatpipes to replace the stock Intel ones laugh.gif
*
hm.. that depends on the air flow inside the system for a performance air cooler to work well.

this is why i don't opt for compact desktops. with my limited skills (well if i have any lol), it's better to have plenty of space to work with. i will definitely put a larger and hopefully thicker rad in future. (a 360-rad aio is on its way)
