After the AMA session with the GM of Alienware, there will be no MXM GPUs or DT CPUs in the near future. Therefore, if this information is important to you, you can switch to a clevo.

thanks for the information. there are too many issues in aw gpu upgrades.

QUOTE(GreaseMonkey90 @ Feb 3 2015, 01:37 PM)
nice, but maybe you wanna wait for a refresh, especially the one with x79. (this one is a damn heavy beast). for the one with mobile cpu (2x gpu), there is still no m.2 slots for pcie ssd. (well maybe there will not be one with m.2 slots i am not sure yet) there are already new models with z97 chip (1x gpu).

GTX980M SLI > GTX980 in AGA. plus the AGA only runs at 4x PCIE.

Alienware 18
Intel Core i7 4930XM | GTX780M SLi | 16GB 1600MHz RAM | Samsang 840 Pro 256GB | Seagate Momentus Hybrid 750GB | 120GB Crucial mSATA OS |Bluray Reader | Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 |

Still not enough? Your's just upgrade to GTX 980m then is almost same spec. as the Eurocom (Clevo) one already right?

GTX980M is not working properly with AW18.

1. BIOS is locked
2. Needs UEFI so I need win8/8.1
3. It throttles if I add inside

In order for it to work properly, AW needs to release a new unlocked BIOS with Maxwell support.

what kind of stuff would throttle if u added into a laptop?
Root cause of throttle = heat
Heat from source = GPU sweat.gif

What do you mean by good enough? Good enough for your assignment and presentation?
No Alienware 13 is too good for you. You should get cheaper one. tongue.gif

Anyway, just tell us your requirement like what you want to do with the laptop.

Well, I do game. Starcraft 2, FPS games.... and some video and photo editing
My main concern is cooling
Is the Alienware 13 cooling better than Inspirion 14 7000?
or save some bucks and get the Inspirion?

Inspiron 14 thinner, dual fan
Alienware 13 thicker, also dual fan.

I think Alienware 13 cooling better. Because Inspiron 14's thin form factor cooling will be a big limitation.

Inspiron come with GTX 850m right?
Alienware 13's GTX 860m is much more powerful.

Inspirion has a i7 version.
Alienware with i7 here is the AW 15 or 17

Actually, what is the 'u' series they used in AW13?
