hey guys, its been a while i visiting this thread. how are you guys doing with your mothership?

there is possibility that next year, i will get a mothership, so that i can join, contribute and organize events.

in general you can get any decent ssd in the local market (samsung, plextor, intel, corsair, sandisk, etc.). they will work fine.

if you have some spares, and you wanna get it like now, i suggest you invest in a 256gb or more of samsung 840 pro. although 840 evo should be fine but i personally haven't tested it. based on the feedback from various sources, it's a good choice. (by the way, the RAPID mode feature found in 840 evo has been added to 840 pro just recently)

if you can wait, new releases should be coming out after june this year. there is plextor m6. (plextor m5pro xtreme is one of my personal favorites beside samsung and intel. don't get older drives although they are cheaper; tend to have issues)

i am not quite a gamer also. i go into bf4 to get killed most of the times

to me the main purpose of having a ssd is to load OS and apps fast (e.g. click and start typing in word; running vm's).

yeap by putting in a ssd and setting up a small ramdisk made my dad's i3 hp laptop became much more responsive (MYR 300.00 very well spent. never received any complaints after that)

vm's are good to test stuff without formatting when tahi happen. it's boring work thing.

i got bf4 when it's on sale. save a bit lol! i just put all the settings ultra and go in shoot sand, shoot airplanes, drive tanks, and fly helicopters.

ah.. yes, if possible just max it out at the point of purchase. while it's true that 8gb will work fine, but the system will get more boosts when you have a small ram disk for cache and temp folders. (with ssd's, ram disk is a good thing to have because you can help reduce a lot of writes off ssd)

recent ramdisk technology is really simple to use. good stuff like softperfect ramdisk is free for personal use.

hm.. aw14 has 2 slots only right? from the manual it looks that way. you need to swap it with 2x8gb. looking at the price of ram today, i suggest you go for ssd first that gives you much better performance boost.

yeah.. it's more fun upgrading it slowly. you can see the performance maintained with time.
