QUOTE(riku2replica @ Feb 20 2014, 10:03 AM) there is no such model also bro. g46vw yes. not g45vw :/ whatever it is, i hope buyers can at least think of business sustainability of sellers for a while.with a 6k budget, i guess he can build a decent desktop by himself, then upgrade when he has some spares. |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Feb 20 2014, 11:53 AM) no problem man QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Feb 20 2014, 12:56 PM) well that depends. that ultimate PC project isnt important to me, so i will only do it when it comes to the time. i will first fund for a gaming laptop (im a mobile gamer) > travel to Japan for 1 or 2 weeks > investing > set up business > PC project. im targeting myself within 5 years from the day i got a proper job, i must accomplish all of that. and thx for the support. i was thinking to build desktop rigs as a hobby when i am old and retired. (however by that time i am not so sure if there are still desktop parts available to do that) |

QUOTE(riku2replica @ Feb 20 2014, 01:46 PM) Well, i haven't been upgrade my desktop since 2013 last added a SSD for OS. Others still stays intel qx6800, 4gb ram, AMD HD4850. Not sure to upgrade as this rig wouldn't want to die on me yet. older generations of stuff usually lasts longer. (very hard to die haha!) to me, i get stuff for self satisfaction, for self rewarding.QUOTE(riku2replica @ Feb 20 2014, 02:05 PM) Still there are slim ultrabook with powerhouse graphic card. No sign of Alienware intending doing that though Razer Blade seems to push the market to get rid of OOD and provide slim and sleek looking power gaming laptop. Followed by Gigabyte P34G and Soon Lenovo Y40/50. i hope alienware is otherwise. they can create new slim models; but i hope they keep the bulky design for 17; maintainability and upgradeablity are important for long term use, so is the proper cooling for important components like cpu/gpu.QUOTE(alfie87 @ Feb 20 2014, 11:00 PM) budget i dont mind because i know a good price between the two, i will always choose alienware. if you're looking for 3 years or more of usage, like raymondtong94 said, get 17.but yet considering both is a different brand and im looking for now and future 3-4 years usage and i dont want to regret it afterwards :-) |

QUOTE(Str33tBoY @ Feb 24 2014, 12:12 PM) i plan to do a whole format or a system restore for my used unit... i have 17" not aw 14 but in general there will be no problem to do a fresh install of w7. ani idea how to do it? as it doesn't like d way of windows 7... btw... ani sifu here using windows 7 on a alienware 14? first i will get all the latest drivers from dell. for a new ssd, i set sata operations to ahci mode. then i will update the ssd firmware to the latest. w7 can be installed in uefi and legacy/bios mode. (this depends on your install media. afaik w7 by default is installed in legacy mode). both modes are fine in terms of w7. there are plenty of tutorials already. google and read a bit and you will be good to go. |

QUOTE(alfie87 @ Feb 25 2014, 07:53 PM) hallo allllllll Its a individual preference. (I mean how long you wanna keep it)usually how long can u keep ur alienware? then u change ur alienware? the estimate time for alienware usage until it wears out 2 years? more? and if we buy alienware from shop, can we extend the warranty by calling dell center? coz my understanding the shop said only 1 year warranty I think it can last for 3 years or more. (17" or 18") Afaik, the complete cover (part-only warranty + accidental damage) is only offerred by dell at the point of online purchase. If you ordered the warranty extension separately through the dell website after that, the new extension is part-only warranty. For better choices of warranty i suggest you talk to sellers like putochip123. |

QUOTE(alfie87 @ Feb 25 2014, 09:47 PM) so if we keep upgrading and changes the thing inside, can longer aight Firstly its electronic so there will be definite limited shelf life. Secondly due to implementations of newer technologies (e.g. Change of cpu sockets, compatible chipsets; gpu socket types, etc.), this will limit upgradeability also. Thirdly i dont think you still wanna use it after a few years because the performance of newer models simply are better than old ones. so let say i wanna keep it forever (lol) how long the mobo can last and be used for future gpu and processor part-only warranty? as in? such as if ram/hdd failure? To me a better indicator is the limit of warranty by manufacturer (i think the max is 5 years for aw) As for the details of scope of warranty that they can provide, its better to ask sales reps. They should know best. |

QUOTE(mansooriqbal @ Feb 28 2014, 09:42 AM) Intel 7260Ac adapter installed already with the latest drivers from intel download center. I lost one screw out of those 7 screws, yea the big 7's I hope I can find a replacement at a PC shop. I will setup netgear nighthawk today! Will surely give my review on both items after testing them imo the older drivers for 7260ac works better with my .ac router at home (full 867mbps almost always). hahaha! it's better to keep the screws in organized manners in a container with compartments |

i guess you haven't enabled the ssd caching. if you didn't do anything to the bios, then to enable it is pretty simple. just make sure you have install intel rst driver package in full (i.e. not the drivers only but the full suite)
