doesn't works on a R4 with 120hz (3d) screen right?
*
Ya, I guess so, coz it need to run together with Optimus.
3D screen, there will no optimus is a output that called "PEG".
Maybe we just wait until the new Alienware 15 and Alienware 17 with the GTX 980m and get the vBios in that card, flash over to Clevo or MSI card to test out.

-Edited-

Is worked. Just you need to use Windows 8.1 with UEFI enabled.

Aw17 i7 4710mq, 8gbDDR5 gtx880.........is this bga
Processor....and the gpu can be upgrade later...gtx975++..
And can aw17 support amplify.......thxs
*
GTX 880m model is old Alienware 17. It didnt support graphics amplifier. It can upgrade to GTX 970m or GTX 980m. Not bga.

The new Alienware 17 which support graphics amplifier is bga, cpu anf GPU both soldered on motherboard.

After the AMA session with the GM of Alienware, there will be no MXM GPUs or DT CPUs in the near future. Therefore, if this information is important to you, you can switch to a clevo.

Your game killer tongue.gif
Alienware 18
Intel Core i7 4930XM | GTX780M SLi | 16GB 1600MHz RAM | Samsang 840 Pro 256GB | Seagate Momentus Hybrid 750GB | 120GB Crucial mSATA OS |Bluray Reader | Bigfoot Networks Killerâ„¢ Wireless-N 1202 |

Still not enough? Your's just upgrade to GTX 980m then is almost same spec. as the Eurocom (Clevo) one already right?

GTX980M is not working properly with AW18.

1. BIOS is locked
2. Needs UEFI so I need win8/8.1
3. It throttles if I add inside

In order for it to work properly, AW needs to release a new unlocked BIOS with Maxwell support.
*
What do u mean by it throttle if u add inside?

*
What do you mean by good enough? Good enough for your assignment and presentation?
No Alienware 13 is too good for you. You should get cheaper one. tongue.gif

Anyway, just tell us your requirement like what you want to do with the laptop.

Well, I do game. Starcraft 2, FPS games.... and some video and photo editing
My main concern is cooling
Is the Alienware 13 cooling better than Inspirion 14 7000?
or save some bucks and get the Inspirion?
*
Inspiron 14 thinner, dual fan
Alienware 13 thicker, also dual fan.

I think Alienware 13 cooling better. Because Inspiron 14's thin form factor cooling will be a big limitation.

Inspiron come with GTX 850m right?
Alienware 13's GTX 860m is much more powerful.

Inspirion has a i7 version.
Alienware with i7 here is the AW 15 or 17

Actually, what is the 'u' series they used in AW13?
*
ULV. is low voltage processor. Even u saw I7 in U series. It is still dual core. haha...

I heard the new lineup is coming up on March. What do you think? Also comes with NVIDIA GTX 980m.
*
I think you are talked about the AW 13 with 5th gen Intel processor. Yes, US already launching. They did a great job in provide free "upgrade" for those who not yet received the unit m Malaysia is not launching yet.

Yup the AW13 and actually im really interested on the AW 15 spec but I'm afraid that i can only afford on RM4999 spec. The difference is only on the processor. It is really a dream if I can buy this machine. For a guy who never own this kind of laptop before I think this is really great for nubs like me.  tongue.gif
*
U can afford just buy then. Else, get a second hand one. Or find myway1985. He got really good deal some time.
