Well... I am no electrical expert... but rechargeable battery seems to put out more juice even though it is rated at 1.2v... however rechargeable battery dont seems to last long in between charges... meaning u get more power but dont last as long as those normal batteries.
I'm no electrical engineer either but your experience above does not really apply to low discharge batteries like Eneloops... The older battery technology like Ni-MH (and more so Ni-Cad) behaves like that, when fully charged they are like on a turbo boost and gives out a lot of juice but fades off very quickly.... Those batteries will go flat even if you leave them fully charged for a few weeks/months depending on the health of the battery... Low discharge batteries like Eneloops are more linear in their output. My 2 cents.

Current sales due ALJ's demise ie. losing their distributorship on Lego... discounts up to 50% (and hopefully more at the end of December)... all this may be one-off occurrence, so let's enjoy it while we can. When TLG takes over next year, many speculating and hoping prices will be much lower... but it's doubtful we will see prices drop to same levels as in the US and Europe. More likely, prices here will be similar to Singapore, where TLG has been distributing and setting retail prices for some time now. Just refer to bricksworld.com. For certain sets like DS, the price is SGD900 which is higher than local retail. Of course there may be other benefits like better discounts, improved availability of sets, and hopefully Lego retail and online stores available in this region eventually.
Ultimately TLG/Lego is still a business and their no.1 priority is to make as much profit as possible for their shareholders. Employees and customers are important but no.1 will always be their shareholders. This is the same for all businesses. Like Gordon Gecko used to say: "Greed is good"
Just my 2 sen of how things will develop in our local Lego market. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Change always brings with it hope, anticipation and uncertainly.

Fully agree with you bro, I'm also not too optimistic that prices will drop drastically... We don't have a hugh domestic market for Lego. One thing for sure is that it is game over for ALJ, AFOLs are simply fed up with their marketing strategy. What comes next is anyone's guess... lower pricing, better availability, online shop, seasonal freebies, Lego boutiques are all possible but it depends on who TLG is working with...
I hope TLG takes over the Malaysian distribution just like what happened in the automotive industry some years back. Companies like BMW and Mercedes Benz came in and took away the sole distribution rights from Sime Darby and Cycle & Carriage respectively. These companies are now dealers, they have to compete with other dealers for the same pool of customers. Hope this is what's brewing in the boardrooms now for Lego Malaysia...

I highly doubt the online store will be available in Msia... even if its available... it will prolly be priced at retail... just look at other online lego store and u will see the pricing is actually same as retail... the only place is cheap is US coz of their real tax deductions...
You look at msia so called duty free... well... not really duty free or tax free...
Just hope LLM will give good pricing... and not 35% markup from the US pricing...
Don't mean to pour cold water but Malaysia will never enjoy US retail pricing. Period. Heck, even Danes where Lego originates from do not enjoy US pricing. It is simple economics, US is the biggest retail market in the world. They have a huge domestic market and buying power. I speculate that Malaysia's domestic market demand for Lego toys probably can't even match most European countries, so at best we can hope for is Europe RRP not USA RRP...

Agreed, the price might not be drastically low but when TLG take over we can expect great support from them. I know its all come to business but its better to buy item direct from the manufacturer rather than by monopoly 3rd party.

Yup. I agree with these. I don't mind if the price is slightly higher than us retail, which makes sense due to transportation etc, but if we can get the similar additional benefits as in Lego.com, I'll be quite happy

There should be some price adjustments but we should not put too much hope on lowered pricing to the tune of USA RRP.... I personally hope that we get the complete works like better support, availability of Exclusive sets, online stores, seasonal freebies, Lego VIP points (equivalent to 5% off RRP), Lego Club etc.
And perhaps with TLG's presence here we can have our own LUG and annual Lego show/convention. That would really create a big following for this fantastic toys and inspire creativity in young kids. (aka poison them for life!)
Need to ask a favour:Any scout report from Avenue K? Specifically
7498 Police Station, I need to get it for two kids' birthday in early January. Groupon will not be able to deliver on time... Thank you!
