Does using the paddleshifters a few times a day consider frequent? I use it a few times a day and the gearbox is still very smooth. Just hit 58000km recently.

Before this I drive manual transmission car..so when I drive forte now, I'm using the paddleshifters as frequently as one changing gear using sticks..

Have been busy with other stuff than car. Haha.

We should go Klang for tyre changing. But I am not going to kilang papan. They are too big too busy to have the personal touch. I found one in Bukit Tinggi with the same price, friendlier boss. Will msg u if I do so. But I plan to change in the next 20k km, which will be in half a year.

I have not receive any letter yet,but the experience I get from SC is premium. As long as I don't think of price comparison I am happy. I have not gone for any parts change yet (touch wood) but I am all good for normal service.

Yes , please do ping me 2 or 3 weeks earlier after you've decided on a specific date for the tyre change.
Much appreciated smile.gif

Guys, I am highly interested in purchasing a 2.0sx, maybe a 2013 model. Dislike K3.

Anyways, family comprises of Kimchi haters and am currently facing lots of attack on this, they are asking me to get a Vios etc. Need some help in getting less rejection (not approval, cause die die they still won't approve).

So far I understand that engine is not proven (when compared to vios), but how reliable does it fare for you guys in terms of power (accel and top), sound/vibration, cost. Lets use the assumption of doing everything outside or without the warranty. Family is bombarding nothing beats the spare parts availability and technical know how (more people know how to fix vios thn kimchi).

And heavy righters please comment, how does the whole car fare? I've test driven last time 2013 the 2.0sx, but sadly couldn't afford back thn.

Sorry if you feel I want to be spoon fed, I've done lots of reading and comparison, but nothing concrete of proof enough from real users, mostly bits and pieces here and there. And I'm looking to purchase sometime in Q3/Q4 this year.

Hope you guys can shed some light for me and hopefully I'll be coming into this family soon wink.gif

I got a 2nd hand 2.0, 2010. Its been good. Nothing has gone wrong in 8 months; spares service are no issue. But i do go the extra mile to source directly from OEM suppliers, and keep attention to maintenance.

Don't see any reason why Japanese cars are still seen as better. The build quality has surprised me in the Kia; after the 2009 Spectra which was a massive fail lemon, to build a car as good as this Forte is quite an achievement.

Malaysians are so stuck to their beliefs its amazing. But, Honda still makes good cars, and are now the topselling. I'd still go for a Civic if it was in the Forte price range. But for 80-90k 2nd hand, I'd be in the market for a 320i or VW CC rather than a Civic. Toyota has dropped to third behind Nissan in sales; but both of those are making worse cars. The Almera (Versa in global markets) is one of the worst cars you can buy in the world, while Vios/Altis/Camry built locally are among the lowest-specced cars in their price range.

Anyhow, for below 70k, no other car on the local market gives you the torque-weight ratio of a 2.0 Forte. Great drive.

Hi guys...anyone know whether the steering knocking sound can be repair at outside shop..can share the shop location in klang valley..
*
Izputra from this forum gave me the info. Absolute legend, can't thank him enough.

Head to SC Rawang, say you need to change the Flexible Coupling in your MDPS - Mechanically Driven Power Steering.

Its crazy, this RM 3.50 part, 1cm big is the cause of the knocking sound. But to replace it, they need to dismantle the entire steering column, rack and put it back, then calibrate - all in ard RM 350, not incl wheel alignment. *I did alignment at my regular guy, they didnt find it not-aligned.

All this is assuming you're driving a 2010 2.0 Forte!

Also, 5 SC and NSS 3rd party specialist told me I have to change the entire steering system for 3.5-5K; utter nonsense esp as there is a Kia service bulletin on this said issue. Everybody is looking for a dime but RM 350 vs RM 5000; thats just plain swindling. SC Rawang took 3 months to order the said RM 3.50 part. If there's a downside to Kia, Naza and the 'K-car specialists' are causing it.
