Those who thinks Kimchi is junkshit just did not have the chance to drive one. Love the car. Never regretted getting one. I however have to admit that the engine is less refined, the rear absorber is less steady as compared to T&H.

Absorber i can agree... my engine still very quiet leh...if turn off the a/c.. it feels like the engine is not started from the inside of the car..very quiet still but still the T & H will bash kao kao hahah..and seriously it feels a worlds difference in the H...soundproofing is absolutely rubbish compared to kimchis..

I think you misunderstood. I did not question the quietness in the cabin for our car. What I meant is that how the engine accelerated when you press on the pedal. T&H Altis and Honda 2.0 does feel smoother.

Power not really. Depends on how your drive. My unker driving style tasted no difference.

The true feeling is that the pedal feels more compact when you step on it. Our car feels more kosong under the feet.

None the less, love the car.

I kinda think the 2.0 doesn't have strong enough torque to propel the car. On paper it looks good but truth is the acceleration is a tad slower even against a 1.8 civic. I pitched it against a 1.5 Manual CRZ before years ago...acceleration was on par and that said the hybrid itself is not a really fast car...so I do think there's a lot of room for improvement for korean engines. Heck even the older 1.8G altis engine feels much faster. But once speed picks up, yes its a pretty good engine to work with.

I never dragged with any of the car before from standstill. Also, I have the potent booster hence my light weight right leg cannot justify the whole scenario.

Guys, I am highly interested in purchasing a 2.0sx, maybe a 2013 model. Dislike K3.

Anyways, family comprises of Kimchi haters and am currently facing lots of attack on this, they are asking me to get a Vios etc. Need some help in getting less rejection (not approval, cause die die they still won't approve).

So far I understand that engine is not proven (when compared to vios), but how reliable does it fare for you guys in terms of power (accel and top), sound/vibration, cost. Lets use the assumption of doing everything outside or without the warranty. Family is bombarding nothing beats the spare parts availability and technical know how (more people know how to fix vios thn kimchi).

And heavy righters please comment, how does the whole car fare? I've test driven last time 2013 the 2.0sx, but sadly couldn't afford back thn.

Sorry if you feel I want to be spoon fed, I've done lots of reading and comparison, but nothing concrete of proof enough from real users, mostly bits and pieces here and there. And I'm looking to purchase sometime in Q3/Q4 this year.

Hope you guys can shed some light for me and hopefully I'll be coming into this family soon

Ask them where have they seen cases of forte having major breakdown? Even in forum/facebook group, only a handful faced major technical problem. I've owned one for 3 years and i only had to replace steering rack once under warranty. Not too bad for a car people say will breakdown every 3 months

Spare part availability is no issue with many auto shops now specialize in korean car. Common issue is with rear absorbers cannot last long and steering rack.

Of course buying car also depends on luck, you get a lemon unit then too bad for you. Every brand will produce lemon units. Compared to a vios its much faster, bigger cabin space, looks way better(personal opinion), safer.

Downside maybe tyres price more expensive

Major breakdown they will argue cause still under warranty ma, where can compare to vios, 10-20 year old still less problem etc ( of course la, kereta kosong in my opinion, how many things can go wrong la)
And about the stigma, korean car last time always has many problem, and with the recent test drive of Santa Fe, compared to CX-5 and Fortuner, lets just say family killed Kimchi even harder after that.

I can live with the 'common issue', a good after market set should at least settle the rear absorber issue for awhile, and being a spirited driver, those are among the 'upgrade list' I have.
Spare part wise I believe will be more expensive compared to Toyota, however my argue would be it won't be like 50% extra etc, more like 10-20% range (I randomly pluck this figure from the sky in hopes I can pull through).

As for the 'lemon car', yes, hopefully I won't be that 'lucky', buying a secondhand unit doesn't really reduces this chance as people with lemon unit will definitely try to get rid of it. But I can only think of try ur best to prevent (get mechanic to look at it and read more on what are the issues with Forte, thats why I'm already doing slow reading now, buying in Q3/Q4)

And yes, lets be honest, it looks damn good!! That and the functions the car offer, spacious good for high speeds.

Yes, the new vios is not without problems.

Whats wrong with the santa fe? CX5 ride quality is not that good in my opinion. Not to say forte is the best car in its class, but its certainly the best value for money car in its class.

Ultimately its you who owns the car. Will you be driving a vios and envy every Forte passing by?

Those driving god cars will spit at Forte, cursing you for driving that junk on the road. God car > all.

I'm driving a 25 year old corolla and everytime a forte passby. And dream of me in that driver seat. Lol

Well, believe it or not, Santa Fe, its the lousiest in terms of handling and power among all three (from a back seat passenger) haha, and worst case is when they demo the sunroof, the rubber seal fell to the cabin and can't be close anymore.

Back to my case, everyone knows when you repeatedly drive hard a car, it will tend to have many problems, so what are the potential problems from Forte? I love them corners.

I'm all for it actually, but you know, gotta make sure try to know more and more. For example, if I know ABC will breakdown, and I mentioned it now, when it does breakdown, family can't say much, expected already, and I've 'factored' it in when choosing Forte.

Compared to not knowing/guessing, whenever something breaks down, family will always: See!! I told you Kimchi bla bla bla bla!! T & H sure won't give you these prob and it won't happen so often bla bla bla bla..........


Nothing is perfect and I would just wanna know so I can set their expectation and let them know EVERYTHING. haha. Tired of all the T&H.

'most' got the car for 4yrs ++ without any major issues....but there is 'some' who get the car few months already got issues.

forte mine is 4 speed one...by right should pull stronger than 6 speed models...just you can feel like the car is heavy and lazy when tekan from zero... but its typical NA characteristics...if ada SC or TC..den different story le
