Didn't know that 1s is available for wcdma already, as just read recently that China mobile TD version just pass through tenaa.

Pay bit more for zte star 1 and you get 4g with snapdragon 400 1.6ghz with 2gb ram and 16gb rom, a better design and android 4.4.2

It's 5 mode 17 band, support both TD lte and FDD lte. According to zte customer support, current available star 1 only support TD lte and 3g in China, but support FDD lte and wcdma when roaming. Official China unicom version ( wcdma + FDD lte) will be out in may. Current star 1 official price is 1399 yuan, fhd resolution. I myself also just order the zte grand s2 with snapdragon 801 at around rm1050

Hongmi 1s I read it pass through tenaa for the TD version. So wcdma version won't be far I guess, but most likely specs will similar to the current CDMA 1s only

By the time it's available, I am better off with the zte star 1. You should know how xiaomi hunger game strategy in distributing their stock, waste of my time only. Besides I would rather pay slight more for 2gb ram and 16gb ROM. If really so obsessed with miui, just flash the ROM lor

I prefer AOSP. ZTE hard to find locally.

I also like the cleanliness of aosp. Just order online only, rely on local market supply will hardly enjoy any goodies with affordable price.

How's the custom ROM scene for this phone? Cyanogen, AOKP etc.
Haven't used MIUI before but it looks a bit dated from screens - the icons, interface, colour schemes.

You can change themes for a different look.

As far as I am concerned, ROM development is lagging, mainly because of MTK kernel sources. So even if there was a custom ROM, it'll be a stock-based ROM, customized by some user, with their own mods.

As long as MTK doesnt release their kernel sources, AOSP ROMs like CM, OmniROM, AOKP, PA etc etc wont work.

So Xiaomi isn't well-known for releasing kernel sources? That's sad sad.gif If they do so, so much can be done with the phone.

Wonder if the Hongmi 1S will be easier to develop custom ROMs seeing it uses the popular Snapdragon 400 SoC.

Quite hard, since miui itself is closed sourced doh.gif

But the snapdragon variant, may be better, but I dare not guarantee.

The a flip side, the mtk variant already has a custom recovery......
