QUOTE(ralfmars83 @ Apr 24 2014, 03:33 PM) http://www.lazada.com.my/import-xiaomi-hongmi-520288.htmlNah They didnt explicitly say 1S, but the 8GB ROM and Snapdragon 400, quad-core 1.6GHZ with the Adreno 305 is a dead giveaway This post has been edited by ericmaxman: Apr 24 2014, 03:35 PM |

QUOTE(sniperwolf @ Apr 24 2014, 03:46 PM) Didn't know that 1s is available for wcdma already, as just read recently that China mobile TD version just pass through tenaa. CDMA or WCDMA? Pay bit more for zte star 1 and you get 4g with snapdragon 400 1.6ghz with 2gb ram and 16gb rom, a better design and android 4.4.2 |

QUOTE(sniperwolf @ Apr 24 2014, 03:56 PM) It's 5 mode 17 band, support both TD lte and FDD lte. According to zte customer support, current available star 1 only support TD lte and 3g in China, but support FDD lte and wcdma when roaming. Official China unicom version ( wcdma + FDD lte) will be out in may. Current star 1 official price is 1399 yuan, fhd resolution. I myself also just order the zte grand s2 with snapdragon 801 at around rm1050 no, i meant the hongmi 1s |

QUOTE(sniperwolf @ Apr 24 2014, 04:09 PM) By the time it's available, I am better off with the zte star 1. You should know how xiaomi hunger game strategy in distributing their stock, waste of my time only. Besides I would rather pay slight more for 2gb ram and 16gb ROM. If really so obsessed with miui, just flash the ROM lor I prefer AOSP. ZTE hard to find locally. |

QUOTE(jimhorn @ Apr 24 2014, 04:31 PM) How's the custom ROM scene for this phone? Cyanogen, AOKP etc. You can change themes for a different look. Haven't used MIUI before but it looks a bit dated from screens - the icons, interface, colour schemes. As far as I am concerned, ROM development is lagging, mainly because of MTK kernel sources. So even if there was a custom ROM, it'll be a stock-based ROM, customized by some user, with their own mods. As long as MTK doesnt release their kernel sources, AOSP ROMs like CM, OmniROM, AOKP, PA etc etc wont work. |

QUOTE(jimhorn @ Apr 24 2014, 04:53 PM) So Xiaomi isn't well-known for releasing kernel sources? That's sad Quite hard, since miui itself is closed sourced Wonder if the Hongmi 1S will be easier to develop custom ROMs seeing it uses the popular Snapdragon 400 SoC. But the snapdragon variant, may be better, but I dare not guarantee. The a flip side, the mtk variant already has a custom recovery...... |

Cheap and cheerful phones are on the rise..
Since xiaomi Malaysia is making an appearance, I wonder how much will the original sets costs.. The Honor 3C has already set the price benchmark, so the redmi has to undercut that to sell well |

Wonder IF xiaomi Malaysia skips the MTK Hongmi and gives us the WCDMA Hongmi 1S with the snapdragon 400.
Now that, I'll be interested |
