Steve Vai........ total BadAss..... but still can't believe Steve Vai got his Ass kicked by The Karate Kid...... But honestly....... he DOES have some skills..... if you notice his finger movements...... it's pretty damn close to the real thing...... Get the movie just for the final sequence. Everything in between is just filler............ And after watching it....... I REALLY need to start learning classical guitar!!!! It can kick the devil's ass you know! I know you wouldn't know the way but I thought Jee would know lol... It's not easy to get to that place even though you're in Mont Kiara. Haih... if I knew that would happen, should have asked you guys to come over to Subang first as I was picking up somebody there too. Oh well.... gona be a double blow for me if tics for fourplay has been sold out. I think it's sold out. Well... now can talk about The Gathering....... how did JS Music go??
Oh.. and Kingston..... if you're reading this...... If you're playing a more traditional classic Rock like Jimi Hendrix or Clapton or Pete Townshend.... go for a fender stratocaster. If you're more into modern rock like Slipknot or even *shudder* Korn or LimpBizkit.... then go for an Ibanez. But honestly.... in my opinion, if you have the cash.... go for an Epiphone Les Paul like what I have... well.... not my Zakk Wylde model, but get a Les Paul Standard guitar. Retails about Rm2300 at Rhapsody in Mid Valley. It has a nice mix between Modern and Classic rock sounds. (But then again....... I AM Freakin' Biased towards the Les Paul). But if you're REALLY into nu metal, then you'll need to go for an Ibanez witha Floyd Rose Tremolo (The little bar at the end of the guitar that if you hammer on it, it makes the guitar go Weeeeeeoooooo oooooewwwwwww)..... Also don't forget..... your amp is as important as your guitar. Get a crap amp, and you're fantastically awsome guitar will sound like crap also. If you're on a budget and going for a great sounding amp, I would highly recommend the AD series from Vox. The AD50 is great value for money and has some very cool features. And if you have left over cash..... invest in a good wah pedal.... a Rock guitarist always has a Wah pedal in handy. |

Yeah.... But problem is where else do they stock Epiphones?? Even Woh Fatt's stock is really dwindeling down.
Kingsley wants a guitar that can cover most, if not all styles..... It's kinda hard to recommend that... especially for a beginner.... So I'm looking at this from MY prespective as a beginner..... I just basically played lots of "riff" songs, and wanted the heaviest distortion possible..... I would suggest starting off with a Fender Stratocaster (see if you can get a humbucker installed, but able to switch back to a Single coil config too), and later.... once you progress and know a little bit more of what you want to play..... explore the rest of your options.... maybe you might end up as a Les Paul person (like me), or perhaps move to an Ibanez/Esp/Jackson type plyer.... or be a total maverick and play a Gretsch or Hagstrom!!! You never know. But I guess the Fender Strat would be a good start since it comes with a basic trem, light body and sounds great when played through the right amp..... even better like I said if you get one with a Humbucker installed. Something like the Highway One HSS would be cool....... http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0111760306 Or if you have more cash to burn...... The American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS with Deluxe Locking Tremolo!!!!! http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0101592764 But nothing against Ibanez though..... they make great guitars and have awsome features...... but they are geared for great Metal....... but not so much for other types of musical styles. That's why we here at the forums waste so much cash on our guitars!!!!!!!! Check the thread on how many guitars we own.... it's ridiculous. I already own 2 Les Pauls and a strat (the other Red strat is now back with it's original owner This post has been edited by blacktrix: Aug 5 2006, 11:24 PM |

well, i just checked gibson's website, and lookie here...there is no more gibson distributor in malaysia.
sweelee SG is now listed as the malaysian distributor. and yes, i would recommend 24.75" scale length as beginners guitars. like i said before, its more forgiving for beginners. plus i wouldnt recommend any trems for beginners which is often found on beginner's strats, cos the cheap bridges on them are very bad. cheap tune-o-matics are still much better than cheap crappy trem bridges. |

That's true........ but don't forget..... it's a beginner's guitar.... let them use it to discover their "tone".... and IF they actually need a trem or not.....
