Hi, I wanted to cut my u mobile normal SIM into micro SIM and I am just wondering if any u mobile service centre/dealer in kl can do it for me for free?
*
iinm, all svc ctr cut for free. they use a puncher anyway.

i'd suggest to convert to nanosim (RM10 fee for actual nanosim card replacement), then get adapters instead cuz it give you all the options (nano > micro, nano > mini, nano > micro > mini)

Hey anyone experienced your phone can't receive phone calls or messages at all?i think the reason is 0.00 credit in my account which mean i get barred from UM?
*
you cannot keep 0.00 as credit. it need a certain minimum amount so calls can be made (credit reservation).

keep a few bucks as float, e.g. rm2-rm5.

p/s: remember to activate LTE via the SMS activation shortcode LTE ON to 28118

by right, it will consume your 50MB free data (from top-up) and then 1GB purchased quota (from UMI38).

usage logic: free > purchased

I will await the new postpaid plans and hopefully they don't continue shafting consumers like this.

Postpaid should award more value to LOYAL customers,

- customers who are willing to sign up with their personal details, name, email and physical address
- customers who are willing to authorise their bank accounts to pay Umobile automatically.
- customers who might get locked into Umobile for a couple of years due to laziness to move elsewhere after setting up everything.

*There's even a deposit fee of one month in advance to get Postpaid running*

The last time someone reason out to me it was cheaper for Umobile to service Prepaid than Postpaid customers, I mean wth?

0 logic in the way their business models work.

If Postpaid gets massive improvements, I am pushing people around me to sign up.
*
isnt that ALL telcos doing that?

1) postpaid registration requires personal details --- MCMC requirements, except for email addy which u can skip or use fake. all telco doing that.

2) autopay -- a payment channel option. good for telco to easily collect payment, convenient for customers (who dont bother much on billing, e.g. U28 Postpaid customers which is literally minimum-maintenance plan biggrin.gif ). this is an opt-in feature anyway. no force needed. also, all telco offering that too.

3) umobile postpaid got contract? since when? as far as i know, contract only kicks in when you get the phones. if you purely get the postpaid plans, you are free to terminate or MNP.

4) advance deposit aka forward charging (pay first, use later). no more like last time, use firs charge later. isnt all telcos are doing that now including Unifi? this is standard industry practice (not sure if ddirected by MCMC). no matter who you use the service, the telco will charge you such.

agree that Postpaid customers doesnt get much benefits compared to Prepaid. why? well, industry ratio for prepaid:postpaid is on average 80%:20% split. guess which portion they going to target? answer: Prepaid customers.

also, prepaid have very high churn rate (i.e. very volatile, churn anytime) compared to postpaid (tends to stay longer, less fussy).

guess which telco offers the most prepaid promos/freebies? answer: ALL of them.

guess which telco seldom offer postpaid promos/freebies? answer: ALL of them too!

it's easy to acquire these prepaid customers than postpaid (good for their management/exco numbers!). but it's difficult to retain prepaid customers, hence the need to keep giving freebies/promos just to target these prepaid segment.

prepaid industry is a war, especially there are so many telcos in malaysia alone. one telco's churned customer = other telco's acquired customer. rinse and repeat the process. thumbup.gif

prepaid customers, especially Malaysians, will always hunt for the best bargain (cheap plan, high quota, more voice minutes). where got such plan la. now umobile is probably affordable, next time sure got other telco offer competitive plans too. and the cycle repeats again, ppl churn from umobile and go for new promo.

in general, no-proration on termination (as iterated by FluffyTee, this is to cover those who abuses the bundled data/calls/sms before full month).

to get the best out of the current plan, switch/terminate near the end of the bill cycle or bill reset.

of course those who intend to maximize the bundled freebies, it wont make any differences anyway since you've paid upfront biggrin.gif

what do u mean by auto pay service on PREPAID ? how should prepaid being autopaid while u got no outstanding ...

by they should open a thread for comparing different telcos plan for this  hmm.gif
*
basically, best of both worlds: benefits/freebies from Prepaid but payment (auto-reload) like a Postpaid thumbup.gif

however, problem with Prepaid (along with other telco) is there is no way to reload directly from M2U online banking/CC without using reload voucher/softpin.

haha umobile can get from me for the direct reload lo brows.gif  but really hard for the AUTO-RELOAD like monthly automatic top up for u and charge ur credit card, can't imagine that way works on prepaid
*
yeah, probably a niche request anyway, but that's the only reason why i always been using Postpaid line, since day 1 getting mobile phone doh.gif

current, the cheapest postpaid line is U28 with 1GB quota and 100+200 sms, dont mind payu for calls/sms/etc. umi28 is slightly better but that is for prepaid, and ayam effing lazy to reload every time validity near death sweat.gif

now umobile postpaid ebill is getting better, so i can monitor if they over-charged me. so far, always rm28/mo. thumbup.gif

say if i top up rm168 &  apply the subscription automatically renews on UMI 28, does this mean within 6 months i don't need to top up any reload (call/sms usage within the free package) ?

Will this work out instead of need top up/reload monthly? hmm.gif  tongue.gif
*
iinm, if there is failure on renewal day, there will be a retry the next day (last i check, umi renewal is set around 11:45pm daily)

just be careful (on excessive usage) if there is failure because there is about 1 day gap between expiry of umi <----> retry renewal.

actually topping up extra is a good idea too, but provided you can manage your PAYU usages properly.
