has their fundamental and valuation changed as big?
it may continue to drop or stayed low for sometime...just like the China funds in the 2008
for me, I think I will stay away from this direct country specific only funds. My risk appetite is limited .... my Asia x Jpn funds did have some exposure in it.

I'm not an active trader at all - often I just buy then don't check for quite some time. Not looking to sell at present unless significant gains have been made as I'm holding for the long term and looking to diversify rather than sitting on cash.

I'm not heavily invested at the moment - less than 9.5% of my assets are in funds/equities.

Although looking to increase this a lot over time, especially the weak MYR hasn't been good to me recently


I'm interested in Indonesia focussed funds too , performance has been pretty poor





But if you look at USDIDR / MYRIDR the IDR has lost a fair bit of value over the last year - but those 2 funds are MYR based so taking into account the currency drop ... fund performance hasn't been too bad just the IDR being cheap! :



The JCI has lost less than 1% during this year. Cheap time to buy Indonesian stocks / funds, tempted

good insight...i already bought eastpring indo equity fund rm2k on 18th....if it drops another 5% or more ill keep buying it in multiples of 2k... hope to see indo market rebound back in the coming months...

Lets see how it goes. I may add some and revisit in 3-4 months time to see what the situation is then with both the Indonesian market + currency.

Charts are easier on the eyes than a bunch of numbers

based on ur historical charts now is definitely the mega sale discount time to buy indo funds... fingers crossed though and hope can profit in the long run with this scalping method...

I'll sit on the fence - the index has risen a lot in the last 5 years (difference between now and today 5 years ago is greater than 300%!)

But looking at currency history it's at a 5 year low against MYR so there may be some upside there too either way, quite high risk (IMO, of course )

Another option would be just to play the currency only (any banks in Malaysia offering IDR deposit accounts? )

indeed thats impressive! the cycle seems typical to malaysia stock market and equity scene on 2008... average all malaysia equity unit trust performance between 2008 up until today is around 125%-150% increase in value...

it is a very high risk and bordering speculative but if one is able to take risk and can hold for the next few years im confident the return will be almost similar to 2008 bounce... double or more your invesment value in 4-5 years time

Want to ask: I'm first time buying into kenanga growth fund via EPF. Can i email the a scanned copy of the form to them or I have to mail them a hard copy?

I guess you cannot scan the form.
