QUOTE(shanelai @ Jan 5 2014, 08:31 AM) Another option, go get condo. =D Haha not elite enough for that. With condo prices now at 1.3k psf minimum, I can only probably afford a 4xx sqft shoebox, and frankly speaking those are WAY too small for a couple, or couple plus kids |

QUOTE(Eisenmeteor @ Jan 5 2014, 10:03 PM) Hey there everyone..I'm planning to apply for a banking position in Singapore this year..Anyone in bank operations here(back end)? Local banks maybe still got, but international/foreign banks the bulk of their back office work will either already be outsourced or in the process of being outsourced to lower cost countries. Malaysia, China, India, etc. |

QUOTE(Sammyking @ Jan 10 2014, 04:47 PM) I've got a question here. Can sg employers/recruiters find out my employment history in msia when they do a background check? The MNC I work for engages a background check agency to verify personal data. Employment history, education, etc. I don't know in what detail though. |

Guys, what's best FD/etc for rainy day funds? From what I can see, seems like boils down to SCB bonu$aver vs CIMB regular FD
SCB https://www.sc.com/sg/save/current-bonussaver.html 1.88% on $25k - need to spend $500 per month on credit card (easy enough) CIMB http://www.cimbbank.com.sg/index.php?tpt=cimb_sg&tpl=sgdfd 1.1% on 1 year FD |

QUOTE(OrCaGaL @ Jan 20 2014, 10:05 PM) really barred from entering for 30 days? my friend got barred for 90days after staying 60days.. 60 days at one go or 60 days broken up (each trip less than 30 days)? QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Jan 20 2014, 04:03 PM) if u got 10k la. http://www.ocbc.com.sg/personal-banking/Ac...bonus-plus.html Wah kaoz this one damn complicated, lol. Read once still don't exactly understand all the t&c. QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Jan 20 2014, 08:56 PM) Maybank used to be the best and I still using Maybank now for our emergency fund. The 500 spending per month like forcing you to spend. Can get better cash rebate eh from other credit cards. Since you saving it for your rainy day, suggest you save it else where. Singapore interest rate just can't make it... Well not really 'rainy day' but more like 'emergency i need money now' pool. QUOTE(seantang @ Jan 20 2014, 11:03 PM) CIMB Starsaver. 0.8% if you deposit $100 or more every month. Simple, no time limits, promo periods, complex conditions/jumping through hoops AND you can go up to $750,000 before a lower rate of 0.5% applies to the excess above 750K. And you get free cheque books/current account as well. And I luv CIMB's preferred customer service... my r/ship manager actually remembers my name and fetches me a drink as he runs behind the counter to kowtim my transactions instead of me queuing. http://www.cimbbank.com.sg/index.php?ch=sg...er_st_cur&ac=12 ... seems to have changed to $500/month now. Which anyway isn't a problem. Slight concern on branch location since I work east stay east. Lemme think about it, thanks! QUOTE(cimb) 2. How can I apply for CIMB Preferred? To enjoy the privileges of CIMB Preferred, you have to establish a banking relationship with us, worth a minimum of S$250,000 in deposits, investment and/or insurance. We may also extend invitation, at our discretion, to selected customers based on other qualifying criteria. your thread in /k/ already useful lor so might as well close this one.
but essentially your #1 already cannot because officially you not allowed to rent anything on a tourist visa. unofficially you can find some landlords who will rent rooms on short term basis; but since you want to stay alone, highly unlikely to find anything. |

Cross border to JB?!? At the kind of relatively low amounts he's changing, you want him to go through all the hassle of bus fares, border crossings, etc etc, just to get maybe $5 or $10 extra?
lunayan If you have maybank then maybank SG atms give you decent exchange rates. And maybe CIMB too (not too sure on this one). Other banks you might get screwed a bit on the cross-border transaction fee. |

QUOTE(Sammyking @ Feb 8 2014, 05:16 PM) Wah siao ah...I thought HR have to pay according to the wage range given by MOM. Mana boleh anyhow just make up their own rule like this? Where on earth you heard this la? Does MOM even publish any wage ranges? Of course HR can set their own reasons, excuses and policies as to why they want to pay you low. The onus is on you to understand what your market range is and not to accept a below par offer. |

QUOTE(zephyrus9999 @ Feb 8 2014, 10:25 PM) Well, in short, what is the maximum number of days with extension we can keep our car in SG, and also what is the ballpark figure charges per day? Simple. If you are PR cannot drive foreign car in SG. If you are work pass holder and stay in SG you also cannot drive foreign car in SG If you are work pass holder and stay outside SG then you can drive in but only that whatever 16 hours a day then must drive out. |

QUOTE(Sammyking @ Feb 9 2014, 10:32 PM) MOM does publish wage range according to occupation and level skill (I've seen it before..in pdf file wan) You got it the wrong way round. That one is not MOM set range then companies pay. That is companies pay according to market forces then MOM compile and publish. |
