If you are driving your friend's car, I dont see why you need Singapore driving licence.

BTW, I got friends working here with EP everyday driving with a malaysia licence. so not a problem.

A Singapore driving licence is required after 12 months. Those on short term social visit may drive with their foreign licence for up to 12 months each time they enter into Singapore. Not possible any more unless you got 5 wifes contributing theirs to the same house. One month from CPF only 1k+ leh unless you volunteer to contribute more.
