If you are driving your friend's car, I dont see why you need Singapore driving licence.

QUOTE(doogiedog @ Feb 21 2014, 09:10 AM)
BTW, I got friends working here with EP everyday driving with a malaysia licence. so not a problem.

Just because your friends didn't get caught, doesn't make it "not a problem." The fact is that according to law once you've worked here for a year, you are not allowed to drive in SG using a Malaysian license. Yes, the chances of getting caught and fined are very low, but anyone reading this forum should know the law and make his/her own decision whether to risk getting caught.

This link is clearer I think, directly from SPF. http://driving-in-singapore.spf.gov.sg/ser...nformation.html

QUOTE
Foreigners

A foreigner above 18 years of age and holding a Work Pass/Dependent Pass/Student Pass may drive in Singapore with a valid class 3, 3A or 2B foreign licence, for a period of not more than 12 months. A Singapore driving licence is required after 12 months. Those on short term social visit may drive with their foreign licence for up to 12 months each time they enter into Singapore. For licence not written in English language, an International Driving Permit or an official translation in English language is required.

So the "each time they leave and enter Singapore you get a new 12 months" applies to people on Social Pass, LTVP, etc, and not for WP/SPass/EP holders.

hi all, some question to ask. do we need to pay s20 everyday for our car if we working in singapore? hows the area in woodlands for living? ppl are friendly?

if you are living in SG you not allowed to keep your Malaysia car in SG. If you are living in JB and driving in every day then yes it is $20 per weekday.

got offer 1.6 for degree fresh grad acc, too low?

I don't know accounting payscales, but 1600 in general seems low for degree holder. Plus you're looking at a pretty sad life in SG.

Singapore has topped 131 cities globally to become the world's most expensive city to live in 2014, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

The city's strong currency combined with the high cost of running a car and soaring utility bills contributed to Singapore topping the list.

It is also the most expensive place in the world to buy clothes.

Singapore replaces Tokyo, which topped the list in 2013.

Other cities making up the top five most expensive cities to live in are Paris, Oslo, Zurich and Sydney, with Tokyo falling to sixth place.

The EIU's Worldwide Cost of Living Survey is a relocation tool that uses New York city as a base. It looks at more than 400 individual prices.

Congrats everyone, we now live in the most expensive city in the world tongue.gif

With this salary range, can i survive in SG and save more than i earn in Msia now? Currently im working in a MNC bank IT role, income below RM3k.

Depends if you're currently also paying for all your own expenses i.e. your own room/house, your own transport, your own food, etc.

Hi there!
Nope, I'm just a freshgrad with 6 months working exp in bank biggrin.gif
so currently no commitments yet, except insurance and PTPTN.

So in other words, right now your parents are paying for your housing, some/many meals, and provide you with a car (I guess).

When you move to SG you have to pay everything yourself.

Based on that alone even without looking at any figures, what do you think?
