but i thought even if u do it during weekend, it might not get processed during the weekend... they might process it during weekday and ur extra 5% during weekend cashback is gone?

i guessed u've constantly did it that way and got it? that's awesome news biggrin.gif
*
no, even though i know we can do it that way, but i have not done it myself just yet. because all the while i am subscribed to auto-pay with ocbc titanium for both tm and tnb bills (for additional rm2 rebate from tm for using auto-pay service). i just only terminated the auto-pay recently when i heard the news about ocbc going to end their 5% rebate.

They did some mistake on my payment n charge me interest so complain bout it n said very disappointed n would like to terminate immediately... later on somebody call back ask me not to terminate first as the bank would like to compensate haha. So I got it.

Not sure if we said wanna terminate ocbc immediately they will counter offer or not to retain customers.

i thought you seduced the cs... whistling.gif drool.gif

Guys,
If keep continue using this card, can waive the GST (RM50)?
So far, we just need spend over RM10K per year and then will get auto waive for it, right?

Anyone know what is the new policy?
*
the term waive should only be used for annual fee but not for gst. annual fee is charged by the bank and the bank can waive it for you because it is within their boundary. however, there is no waiver for gst because it is charged by the government not bank. and so it is against the law for a bank to waive cc gst. the correct term should be the bank absorb the gst for you if you spend over rm10k in a year (meaning that the bank pays the gst on your behalf). icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, you're right. Sorry...so if not spend over RM10k, bank will not absorb the gst for me  blush.gif
*
the best way to achieve rm10k using this card (which starting to offer only 1% cash back) is to pay for your insurance (those insurance that don't accept amex). my annual insurance is more than rm10k already (currently subscribed to autopay with different cc). so i plan to shift all to this card. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(red_scorpion @ Nov 12 2013, 02:14 AM)
OCBC is smart..
Maybe they found that they cant earn much from old cash back benefit.
As we know, merchants are paying around 1.8% to bank for each swipe, so by giving unlimited 1%, they are earning 0.8% for every swipe.
For old benefit, they are losing 3.2% for some category, and earn back if customer swipe more than 1k (Cap 50/month).
I think they already expect will lost some customer, but they surely calculate and estimate before make this big changes.
Maybe next few months when they compare their Titanium Card earning report with previous 5% benefit, found out that they earn less than that, then their management only will do something. So what we can do now is, after 29-nov, find other replacement card, reduce OCBC card usage, reduce their profit.
*
if you assume merchants are paying around 1.8% to bank for each swipe, yes, it is in the normal acceptable range of merchant fees.

however, if you assume ocbc is earning 0.8% after giving 1% rebate, no, because the 1.8% fees is shared between merchant's bank (acquiring bank), customer's bank (issuing bank) and the network (visa/mastercard/amex/etc).

which means, if the merchant machine is from mbb, your cc is from ocbc, and the network is mastercard, so the 1.8% is shared between mbb, ocbc, and mastercard. if ocbc gives you 1% out of their share, it is still equals that ocbc is not in profit or almost not in profit. they are still counting on charging the customers with interest on outstanding balance, late payment fees, and others. brows.gif

i suspect in the aftermath of this new policy, UOB will be the biggest beneficiary as IMHO the One card is as close as it gets.

However for utilities, there isn't really a better card even at 1% is there?
*
hlb wise card, mbb2cards, uob one card, citibank cashback platinum card are the biggest beneficiaries now...

how to request for higher CL?  brows.gif
*
usually one can only request for higher cl after 6 months of using the cc.
if you have any increment of your pay/salary within the 6 months, just submit and apply for higher cl.
otherwise you may also just call to ask for cl increase.
they may give you higher if you did utilised your current cl and have a good payment record.

I thought it's "2% Cash Rebate for AEON Big, Tesco, Cold Storage, Jaya Grocer and Giant" for UOB ONE? Unless not stated here it's 0.3%
*
he meant ocbc titanium is good for all other transactions (other than petrol/groceries/bills) as it offers 1% over 0.3% (citibank cash back platinum and uob one card) nod.gif

But if you read his sentence carefully (maybe I got it wrongly), he says

" For non-petrol, bills payment & groceries, this card (OCBC Titanium) still good as it offers 1% rebate over 0.3%" (citibank cash back platinum and uob one card).

OCBC Titanium 1% over all this?
GROCERIES: 2% Cash Rebate for AEON Big, Tesco, Cold Storage, Jaya Grocer and Giant
BILLS: 2% Cash Rebate for major mobile service providers  AND 0.3% for OTHERS

Correct me if I'm wrong.
*
yes, you are right, i understand what you mean.
there is something wrong with his sentence. biggrin.gif

but somehow i just understand what he meant. rolleyes.gif
i supposed he meant for non-petrol, non-bills payment, non-groceries, this card (OCBC Titanium) still good as it offers 1% rebate over 0.3%" (citibank cash back platinum and uob one card).
maybe he just put one non at the front but is for all these 3 items (petrol, bills, groceries). laugh.gif

yes, you are right. we should not just assume this is what he meant. perhaps David83 should come to explain by himself to clear things up. icon_rolleyes.gif

sorry, post counts doesn't mean anything to me. tongue.gif
i'm just interested in sharing cc information/experience and having warm interaction with all lyn members. wink.gif
i also like to clear things up so that all lyn members (old/new) could be in good terms with each other. thumbup.gif

sometimes i feel that we don't have to be too sarcastic or too strict in our reply to each another. shakehead.gif
when one has some noob/repeated questions, we don't have to give sarcastic reply to them, but with simple explanation will do. nod.gif
when one has gone off-topic, we don't have to give a harsh warning to them, but with friendly reminder will do. icon_rolleyes.gif
we are all credit cards owners or owner-to be > meaning that we are all adults who know how to think smart > to save money through credit cards rebates. cool2.gif

i'm just a normal person who have been using many types of cc since more than 10 years ago and would like to share information and experience with each other here. smile.gif
but at the same time, i'm also just a newbie here in lyn. i just joined lyn recently as i don't know there is such a place like lyn to share all these, so i'm sorry, bcs i'm not familiar with the culture here. sad.gif
