You're all doing it wrong. Quick Ball first, no questions asked. It has a catch rate of 4.
For perspective, Ultra Ball's catch rate is 2.

Ditto safari hunting? I just put a weak Pokemon in front with Smoke Ball (If you're looking for specific nature then put something like Ralts with Synchronize and the same nature Ditto you're looking for) then throw Quick Ball terus. Smoke Ball since the weak Pokemon in front always get in trouble trying to run away from other wild Pokemon. If fail then the Ditto transforms into the harmless Pokemon then switch to Scyther to False Swipe it to 1HP.
