Bought this today.
Everything is good,

my only complaint is the weak wifi card or antenna.

seems like my old laptop can surf the net faster.

I wonder if I can swap them laugh.gif

Anyone else got upgrade the wifi hardware?

LOL, I just realised I depend a lot on the "options" key, normally to the right of the space bar.
unfortunately this notebook omitted the button.

-edit-
I just found out two-finger tap will bring out the options menu thumbup.gif

Can you guys please download any benchmarking software like unigine heaven or 3d mark?

My laptop fan speed is incredibly loud when benchmarking and this is quite unbearable.

Not sure if this is a defect and if so I definitely would wan to get an exchange.

I experienced loud fan noise during gaming.

And also once during a certain driver/software update, which was strange.
Can't recall what driver/software was that.

Oh damn, was hoping that I was the only one experiencing this really loud fan noise during gaming *sigh*

Anyways, does it help if you use a notebook cooler?
*
In my exp, using cooler doesn't really improve the fan noise level. Maybe just a little bit.

I usually position the cooler fan closer to the left, where the air intake is biggrin.gif

HP Service Centre called me up and said that my laptop has been fitted with a new exhaust fan but the problem is still there. He did also say that it's quite "normal".

Le Sigh. Just have to live with it I guess, will collect it back tomorrow and replace the HDD with a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD and upgrade the ram to 8GB.

I guess you'll just have to tolerate the fan noise issue. Afterall, it's a thin notebook, maybe the fan just have to work harder to remain cool.

I've upgraded to 8GB since day one. Dun like to make frequent visits to computer shop biggrin.gif.

Recently upgraded to win8.1, windows update got provide the latest driver for the f12 "flight mode" button.
One thing i noticed is the power brick does not get hot at all, means it's quite efficient.

So far so good with this laptop. thumbup.gif

Have any1 tried playing PES 2013 on this laptop? On medium setting can run smoothly? Will bottleneck since it is onli dual core? hmm.gif

When gaming, the palm rest wont heat up too much right?

Running softwares like Netbean and Eclipse then compiling and debugging codes will lag?
*
I play F1 2012, moderate settings.
The air vent is on the left side, but it generally doesn't affect the keyboard and palm area. Maybe just slightly warm towards the leftmost area.
The fan does get noticeably loud when gaming.

Can't guarantee, but I'm sure programming won't be a problem. Just upgrade it to 8gb to future-proof.

Anyone has burned a set of 6 recovery discs already? bearbear PaulReedSmooth fastreader dadurtyz CHEVELLE_84

It takes so freaking long to burn 1 disc, about 1.5 hours, so 6 discs will take around 9 hours shocking.gif

I'm burning the 3rd disc now but I want to settle my laptop stuff by tonight so I'm thinking of going to lowyat to grab my SSD and RAM first.

Question is whether I can stop the process halfway and continue to burn later on? It'll be a disaster if I have to start all over again or that the process fails.

the HP recovery software is damn shitty.
It only burned for me 1/6 part. When I inserted a new DVD to continue to 2/6, it just won't continue. It just displays error.

I tried to do it three times.
Now I have three pieces of DVD containing the same 1/6 part sweat.gif doh.gif

That's funny, I'm on Disc 4 now, no issues so far except for the long waiting time and noise.

Btw, I just discovered that it's difficult to replace the HDD as you need to remove the entire exterior to gain access to it. Not as user friendly as other laptops where just you need to unscrew 2 screws at the back plate to expose the HDD. Will get someone to do it for me tomorrow.
*
I'll just give up on the recovery disc, and pray nothing happens biggrin.gif blush.gif

Ya, it's not very service-friendly.
Only ram and wifi module can access easily.
I downloaded the service manual pdf, i think the hdd is somewhere beneath the right palm area.
My previous laptop, I used to take out the whole heatsink and clean the fan and reapply thermal paste once in a while icon_rolleyes.gif
