Flashing tonight on my n7 and n5 but of course will do nandroid backup first before proceeding.

Only Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi version have it currently, but you can always look for a port for your device if there is developer willing to do the work.

I am referring to the guide in the MIUI forum to flash L, not MIUI rom. You mentioned you have flashed to L. Flashing to L will wipe the device or not?
