Engineer is considered as a professional career... but, do you know how much is the monthly salary in term of job, qualificaiton and year of working experience?

for example: consultant engineer (degree, no professional cert)
year 0 : rm 2k
year 1: rm 2.2k
year 8: rm 5k
year 30: rm 8k

maybe you can tell what are the other constraints also in determining the salary...

this is just an example... share your idea with us to standardize the engineer's market pay... dun let the bosses bully us... whistling.gif

i'm an engineer myself and the problem with consultant firm is the bosses knows that these fresh grads are out to learn from them. therefore, they will squeeze your pay and make the full use out of you. sad but true.

as for myself, i'm already in my third year in a consultant firm and my salary sitll doesn't go pass 2.5K. sad...

my advice is, since you're still young, why not go for a try in a consultant firm. that would beef u up with some experience and if you don't like it, you have nothing to lose, just leave and find another...

my advise it.. go for your dreams.. dont get "stuck" like us! just read the tucker max's speech http://messageboard.tuckermax.com/showthre...95&page=3&pp=10

i know! its for lawyers.. and lawyers rot in hell.. but its about living your dream. When I am a student, I thought when I work, I'm gonna buy this buy that.. but guess what?! i'm f***ing poorer than being in student time. hehe.

Btw.. jobs as consultick oopps, i mean consultants require constant dealing with authorities too... just as much as achitect do. and I REALLY is a pain in the ass EVERYTIME to meet them, unless they're the pretty clerk there.. IT SUCKS!

hmm.... we all agree our job sucks! but where else to go? not to say too old also. work as mechanical or electrical engineers in factory pay high but darn boring. our work is freer.. can go site, make fun of clients, act like a complete ******* with contractors and see them comply. i think i should put more "stupid" stuff of working in my blog hehe...

Fresh graduates engineers pay:

From my own personal experience when I went out to look for a job (MEng in E&E). These happened a while back so I guess the pay structure may have changed quite a bit.

Manufacturing Companies:
Motorola: RM2800
Freescale: RM2800
JVC: RM2200
Sony: RM2500
Agilent: RM2800
Intel: RM2800

Non-Engineering Related:

UOB Bank: RM2200
CIMB: RM1800
Nestle: RM2000
IBM: RM2500
McKinsey: RM7000
Arthur D Little: RM4000

You need to apply for membership via our BEM and IEM and then follow their procedures for getting IR from them. Needs working experience but I am not too sure how many years.

If you are a UK graduate, then you can apply for your chartered engineering via their engineering institutes such as IEE or etc..

I am a full member of IEE. Is it important for me to register with BEM ?

That is up to you, if you attached with the IEE then you can aim for a charteredship. The period depends on your degree. If you graduated with a BEng then the process takes a little more before you can get your charteredship because apart from the standard 3 years relevant work experience you would require to take another course.

If you graduated with an MEng then you would need 3 years work experience . Just follow their guidelines because your company needs to give in a full report about your work and job.

If you want an IR then its best to apply it via BEM then later IEM, see their procedures and the proper steps.

IEM Website:

BEM Website:

BY-law.. its a must to register for BEM in order to work as engineer. IEM not mandatory.. but need to also if you're aiming to became an IR
