damnnn AMD for the superb strategy!! if 290 non-x can fight head to head with 780 but priced lower then nvidia is gonna get hurt again.. or nvidia will just fix their prices because their reference cooler > AMD's

high heat/noise only applied to those of amd's reference cards.. high heat is because they let their card go as fast as possible. as for nvidia they set it at lower max temp hence the power cannot go further
