Hi , I recently got a Sapphire Vapor X 7970 6GB

I press the 'lethal boost' button and restart.

Clock speed remains the same at 1050 which is without the button pressed.

Anything i did wrong ?

Missed your post, did GPU-Z show 1050 default clock or 1100?

Anandtech review of Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC is up, this thing is going to sell like hot cake at $449 SRP.

I can see thermal pad on VRM1 but none in VRM2 area. hmm.gif

QUOTE
For the 290 Tri-X OC Sapphire has reverted to traditional power and temperature based throttling, opting not to use the functionality of next generation PowerTune. This means that the 290 Tri-X OC does not offer the ability to throttle based on fan speeds, nor does it offer the ability to adjust the temperature it throttles at, instead throttling at Hawaii’s TjMax. This implementation caught us off guard at first since we had expected everyone to use next generation PowerTune, however as it turns out this is something that board partners get to decide for themselves on their customized cards.

Waiting for Vapor-X versions to come out... brows.gif

Very good heat and noise performance, and it's a beast when overclocked.... brows.gif

I'm liking the Tri-X, pretty beefy heatsink. No backplate unlike 280x Toxic though.
I wonder if Sapphire will sell the cooler as standalone product.

Based on the current available Sapphire GPU coolers, the Tri-X is supposedly the highest end available at their disposal. Unlikely they will utilize the current Vapor-X cooler (which should have a lower thermal performance) unless Sapphire completely redesigns a new 2014 Vapor-X cooler. brows.gif
