Btw, do you know when the Gigabyte 290X Windforce is coming to Malaysia, and how much? My buddy is intent on getting it, but last I checked the damn thing was $699.99 on Newegg. @.@
I don't remember non reference cards jumping in such huge numbers in price except for MSI Lightnings.

I'm guessing that's the price for the folks in US, where crypto craze is still going. Maybe in Malaysia they won't sell that high. Heck, I don't ever see AMD cards selling that high

Bloody bitcoin miners basically bought every damn 290/290X available on the planet. Prices for both shot up by $100 easy. Serves em right when the Chinese government declared bitcoin illegal and made it lost 50% in value.

But yeah, I hope not. That is 780Ti territory. Friend is hoping it stays under 2300/2400. Do you know if any non reference models have made it to Malaysian shores yet?

1. They did not declare it illegal. China just restricts yuan exchanges
2. Lost about 50% of the highest recorded value BUT I guess what you didn't realize is that it already went up again, and it's still more than 1000% the value of what it was.

They did last year, and maybe 2 years ago but certainly not for the last 2 quarters of 2013. Not anymore.

Okay I read or saw the wrong things but seriously, I meant it in jest dude. Of course bitcoin miners didn't 100% cause stock drops and piece increases. I was at viewnet last week and they were selling a 290X for 1999 just fine. And I'm not that sick to wish misfortune apon others. The 'Hit' I was talking about is value, nothing else. And as you said, the value is still 1000% of what it used to be.

Sigh forget it. I'm sorry, and I won't jest like this again.

Nah, I'm just adding information that Bitcoin miners will not buy AMD GPU already these days. ASIC miners out-do AMD GPUs by far.

If anyone uses an R9 280X for Bitcoin, they could only fetch 5.40 USD per month at the current difficulty.

R9 290X maybe about 7 USD.

I know, but it was just an easy thing online to blame the shortage of 290/290X on bitcoin

But of course it's all just speculation. Just adding the fun LOL.

And yeah, they only release a set amount of currency per day, which is why mining in is not an easy process and gains are not instant, and like you said, $7 per month per card.

But oh well, at least I got my 290X now. Hope to use an aftermarket cooler on it soon. Now a sincere question, what are your recommendations? I'm looking at a Kraken X40/NZXT G10 combo. =)

Casual miners hoping to make a quick buck are disappointed. LiteCoin is now half what it was about 2 weeks ago but still 8 times more than what it was many months back.

Some trivia.

DeepCool Dracula looks eerily similar to the Alpenfoehn Peter, and shares the same fan mounting, which looks similar to the FMK-01 Fan Mounting Kit sold by Prolimatech.
