Having a question,

Assuming my Maybank credit card limit is RM5,000 only

But I need to swipe a RM10,000 value of transaction in the coming month

Can I bank in a RM5,000 cash into my credit card account before hand? So indirectly I have RM10,000 limit which is sufficient for me to swipe.

Can this be done?
*
yes, this can be done.
or just call to temporarily increase your credit limit.
no need to show payslip or whatever bcs it's for temporary.

CL 10k is entitled to be upgrade to Platinum from Gold right?

Does MBb auto upgrade for card user or need to apply through card center by myself??
*
QUOTE(ekroyorke @ Jan 29 2014, 10:40 AM)
mine CL got upgraded from 7k to 10k to 12k

MBB never offers me to upgrade to Platinum. hmm
*
no auto-upgrade. you need to apply for upgrade yourself. no matter for credit limit increase or from gold to platinum.

reasons are:
1) if they auto increase your credit limit (without your consent), let's say from rm10k to rm15k, if you lose your cc and your cc being used for unauthorised transactions til rm15k, you will blame the bank for simply increase without your approval causing additional lost.
2) if they auto upgrade your cc from gold to platinum (without your consent), you will blame the bank when you find that all your auto-debit were down because your gold cc has been terminated and been replaced with the platinum cc, so you suddenly have to go through all the hassles to change all your auto-debit to the new platinum cc.

just want to add the point..
if the auto-debit is on maybank end, it will auto transfer to new cc..
if the auto-debit is on retailer end, then you need to contact retailer..
*
usually the auto-debit for payments like insurance, tnb, tm, will be on retailers side. you need to go to each to update your cc details again one by one.

do you mean visa day for agoda?

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Jan 29 2014, 11:26 PM)
i am guessing when you file a dispute form and got a replacement card, the auto-debit won't go through as well
*
yes, as long as a new replacement card with new numbers is out, all auto-debit will not be functioning anymore.

can, not increase credit limit. i go to cdm, and put in cash 18K into my credit card account , then I can swipe for 25k...

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Feb 4 2014, 12:13 PM)
I can confirm that it is indeed possible to increase your credit limit by 'overpaying' your credit card account. Been there done that. As a matter of fact, there was a time i used up my credit limit but not aware of it. Tried to buy something online but my card kept getting declined. Called Maybank hotline and was told my card will be good to use again if i deposit RMxxx into the account and i need not to clear the statement balance right away. Due date was about two weeks away, so i did not want to clear it so soon too  biggrin.gif
*
yes, it can be done as i did the same during my earlier stage of using cc (more than a decade ago) when my cl was still very low.

bro, you should not have disclosed all the details here because you won't know who is reading.
with all the information given, meaning that you are paying with cc, which also means that you will be carrying your wedding angpow money in huge cash with you after your wedding dinner.
not to make you afraid but just a friendly reminder to be extra careful nowadays. icon_rolleyes.gif
HAPPY WEDDING DAY to you! rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(JyeLim @ Feb 4 2014, 08:14 PM)
Hi, just received my maybank 2 cards few days ago and i have some questions, from the FAQ in 1st page:

6. You do not need to activate the cards by calling in. Cards can be used immediately.
7. You do not need to post back the acknowledgement copy when you receive the card by post/courier.

So, It's true? i'm maybank debit card holder and when I login maybank2U there have the selection  "activate card" for these 2 cards.
*
yes, it's true.

don't you think for 70k spending, ocbc 1% unlimited rebate is a better choice? unless

1. ocbc doesnt allow spendng about credit limit
2. u dont have ocbc cc

forget about it if you have any of the above 2 points tongue.gif

QUOTE(kezman @ Feb 4 2014, 09:29 PM)
RM70000 will give me 350000 treatpoints and with 250 equivalent to RM1, I can change it to RM1400 in Metrojaya, Parkson, Sony, Senheng, or any shop that can use treatpoints.

while 1% of RM70000 is only RM700, right?

and yes I dont have ocbc cc... i have M2card and Cimb Petronas (which i never use, sux to the max)
*
mbb2amex 5xtp equals 2%, double than ocbc titanium 1%.

1tp equals 0.4%, so 2x equals 0.8%... just a mere 0.2% difference from 1%. unless the transaction amount is huge, otherwise, you don't see any difference.

Based on your Transaction History, you seem to be paying CC before the Due Date.... you should put the funds in monthly interest bearing CASA to earn interest from bank and pay full a few days before Due Date (after you earned your CASA interest)
*
the problem is his credit limit is low. so have to pay earlier in order to swipe huge amount later (increasing his credit limit in a sense).

Have a question. Can I cancel my maybank card to avoid GST but still have 1 more final installment payment after the anniversary date?
*
just call the cs and inform that you want to do full settlement for your installment. then only cancel it to avoid the gst. you can't cancel your cc if you still owe them money.
