QUOTE(taiping boy @ Nov 29 2013, 01:23 PM) Dear Almerian, my VL already clocked 9,000 km. Should be due for 3rd service on next month. So far after 5months, i would like to make some comments and appreciate if everyone can give feedback or advise. Thanks. 1. Exterior- good noise proof. Acceptable design(mine without bodykit). Looks like mini luxury. My brilliant white paint doesnt looks durable. Wondering anyone install any BK apart from Impul? DRL? Pls include price. 2. Interior- acceptable design & quality. Spacious rear legroom. Good headroom. Uncomfortable seat. Its no providing enough support and comfort. Gear knob looks cheapo. Awkward steering positioning. Handrest at door too low and narrow. Not practical. Switches at door too far from reach. Need to buy armrest. No seatpocket at rear. Compartment above glovebox not practical. The two bar holding windscreen is too width and bulky thus blocking view during cornering. Appreciate feedback on this. Since we will be inside most of the time. 3. Handling- smooth drive. Decent gear switching. My top speed is 180km/h. Miserable cornering at above 50km/h. Car will is very floaty and swirl alot at above 100km/h. Steering lack response at speed above 140km/h. Tyre feels uneven and unbalance at speed above 80km/h. Car will sidestep during high speed braking. Can't agree more on this bro, all I can say is my driving style has been changed drastically after I started driving an Almera, from Fast & Furious to Slow & Steady Any solution? Change tyre? Change rim? Install anti roll bar? Im really stuck at this part. The most important issue that i wanna solve. Kindly give recomendation and price. I reckon by changing to a wider and better tire would improve braking, while lowered spring+ARB+camber adjustment would improve handling 4. Bonnet- looks spacious. Looks width. In actual its depth. Due to rear seat cant fold. 5. Engine- lightweight engine. Wet based battery. Everything is just fine at the engine compartment. I was wondering whats the engine oil used on 10k service? Can we choose or bring our own oil? They'll pour in Castrol semi synthetic, which then will change your service intervals from every 5000km to 10000km. Almerian, come and spill out whatever your thought is. I hope that we can all improve our Almer into flawless drive. |

QUOTE(evilpenguin @ Oct 8 2013, 10:36 AM) I think it is generally a good car. My basis for comparison is mainly between Almera and Vios (since my mom owns a Vios and I've been driving it before getting this Almera) any suggestion to improve torque ?FC = My mileage is less than 500km and I'm getting around 9.7l/100km 95% city drive. My mom's Vios clocks the same consumption. If you're paying 65k for an Almera vs 100k for a Prius C, you have 35k to spend on petrol! Noise insulation = Pretty good. Engine is silent when in operation (compared to Vios) Comfort = Tons of space, and bumpy roads don't feel uncomfortable. Actually, going over bumps is a joy Handling = The steering wheel is super light but I can feel significant body roll when cornering at higher speeds (worse than Vios) Acceleration = I'm a light-footed driver so I prefer to step on the pedal gradually to build speed. The CVVT engine is very smooth (I'd say it's between CVT and Vios' engine in terms of smoothness). However, pick-up wise, the Vios is better. Interior = It's not ideal. It seems pretty ugly and dated. However, it is simple and has all the basic necessities you need in a car. Simplicity also means less potential for parts to break down, and stuff will be easier (& probably cheaper to repair). The front pillars of the car gives pretty much an identical blind spot as the Vios. Exterior = I personally found the Almera awful without the bodykit, which prompted me to spend 1.5k on the Impul bodykit.... The bum still looks a bit awkward, but the front and side look waaaay better with the bodykit on. Safety = Well, let's just say many Jap carmakers take advantage of the fact that Malaysians care more about a car's looks rather than its safety. However, if you drive safely and defensively, you're more likely to stay alive than a person who drives like a madman in a car with a gazillion airbags. Overall, 65k for the lowest spec-ed auto variant is pretty okay for what you're getting, given it's a foreign car brand with less headaches (reliability, servicing). My 2 cents. |
