Kagawa is overhyped. Dont care if he is being played out of position or playing your best position. Your duty as a player is to follow the orders from the manager and do your best. Kagawa had a chance against Spurs to operate in the middle, Welback did better than him in truth. Kagawa struggled on the left. That is the fact.
Juan Mata. Operates on the left, right but his main position is CAM. Operates well without any issues. Even if Kagawa is operating at his best position, last season, did he excel? No. Sure injuries and match fitness is an issue, but is he doing anything to improve on his fitness? Just like what Van Persie did after he recovered from a serious injury.
Playing at the position that he is uncomfortable with is a weak argument. You cannot expect a player to be playing at their favorite position all the time, that is why as a team player, you need to adapt to changes not changes adapt to you. Mind you, football is a team game. Everything you do is for the team. So how long will it take for Kagawa to excel in England? Why can't Fellaini get the same treatment? Why are some calling Fellaini a flop in his first few months at the club? Why can't they give him the same number of months to adapt like Kagawa, or maybe still adapting? Just because he is signed by Moyes? Same thing.
Yep, Kagawa didn't have a good game against Spurs (in ANY position). But it is his first time getting a proper run in his favoured position since joining the club. When did Kagawa operate in his best position last season? He has been playing almost exclusively as a left winger since joining, if at all. He has played on the left without complaint, and tried to do well to keep his place in the team (since doing poorly is just asking to be benched). Fact is, he just isn't as good as a winger. Januzaj would be the more exciting choice by far for the LW.Juan Mata. Operates on the left, right but his main position is CAM. Operates well without any issues. As for Fellaini, he probably gets more stick because he has been doing well for Everton for several years before the transfer. He is familiar with the league and it's style. Probably a case of "why isn't he doing the same for us", eventhough at Everton he was playing as an attacking midfielder whereas for United we have been using him as a CM/DM.
That said, I think they BOTH need more time. People have been so quick to say player X/Y/Z is rubbish and not United quality, it's quite .... brutal. New manager and backroom team are still getting a hand of things, and the piss poor transfer activity in the last window did nobody at the club any favors. I don't agree with Beckham saying "the transition is over" after the Leverkusen result. 1 great result isn't an indicator at all, however welcome it was. It's probably going to be 1-2 seasons before we can really say that Moyes has had time to change the team to suit his vision. Until then, I expect us fans are going to have high blood pressure and a lot of anxiety when supporting and watching the team play.
