QUOTE(onepack @ Dec 3 2013, 11:50 AM) ^ which part in the article say fellaini over kagawa fighting for same spot Caption for the picture of Kagawa and Fellaini. Yep, I agree that he is fighting for the #10 role.i think giggs can be the guy providing/exchanging passes wt kagawa like leverkusen game. kagawa clearly fighting for no 10 role wt rooney.. unless he adapt playing in different role he will continue struggle to performed and getting min of play |

Guys, learn to play nice or I'll have to bring out the rotan.
Anyways, i think SomeoneElse hit the nail on the head. Kagawa is more to short passes with lots of movement off the ball, players coming in short to receive a short pass and link up play and people making runs behind defenders. When you see United play, the whole team is static. They don't make runs or anything like that. And they don't come in short. The only one who does besides Kagawa, are probaby Carrick (a little bit) and Cleverley. And sometimes Nani when he plays. This is something that has been happening since the SAF days. United have always played more of a mixed passing game with a lot of width. This makes the spaces between United players a lot bigger and a lot of emphasis on wing play. The total opposite of how Kagawa plays. Just two seasons ago, united depended a lot on a crossing game. SAF tried to change this a bit, so he bought Kagawa last season to give more variety and options. For Kagawa to play better, we'll need more players moving off the ball, players keeping the gap between each other smaller and more players making runs behind defenders, etc. Which we don't. So there's our conundrum. This probably explains why Moyes wanted Herrera or Thiago. He wanted not just a replacement/complement for Carrick. He wanted to give the midfield more pass and move kinda players. Basically a premium version of Cleverley. The key question now is how to maintain a balance between the Kagawa style and the traditional United style to give United variety in attack. So far, SAF hadn't really gotten a perfect formula during his time and now it's up to Moyes to figure this puzzle out. As for Cleverley, from what I've seen, he's good for link up play (always offering himself as an option for a pass and good for short passes), but not much else. He can't really defend well like Carrick or Fletcher (he does try though, hence all the unnecessary fouls) and he can't really make super passes like Scholes or Carrick. This is why he plays well with Carrick, because he gives Carrick an easy option for a pass if opposing teams decide to pressure Carrick, while Carrick does all the premium moves. I suppose he is a good squad player, but what United really need right now is a replacement for Scholes. A top class midfielder. We have enough squad players as it is. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I pretty much share the same view. But in the meantime, our lines-up against Arsenal was the most promising combination under Moyes imo, like other who have thought since last year or more, Carrick works better alongside player like Jones. Now Jones is a player with positioning's significant improvement than before, he just needs to be more clever with his tackle. Those 2 are best bet at the moment. Would love to see combination of Evra-Kagawa at left and Rafael-Januzaj at right. |

It is not hard to figure out why cleverley wasn't as good as before. He still trying to surpass the mental block and trying to be free injury. The Injury after injury really catch him up.
He need to be brave to perform and show his talent.anyway, good luck lads.please secure 3 points.this month is very crucial for us.(no more dropping pts ala west brom and soton game) |
